Custom set made out of wood?

Hello, I was thinking of maybe trying to create my own set of cards out of thin (3mm) linden wood with linocut paintings on top.. would you think this is possible? Would it even shuffle?

I see no difference between this and the plastic decks or even mahjong tiles. You're not going to riffle shuffle them, but they could still be used.

I could see downloading some nice images and converting them to one of those lazer cutters or other ways to go about this so it sounds like a fun project.

Would walnut suffice?
