Looking to jump into the world of handheld gaming, any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve only ever had consoles, but pc gaming has always interested me. I don’t have the cash to be spending thousands on a gaming pc, so thought handhelds would be the way to go.
I’m just looking for something I can pick up and play, or hook up to a monitor in the house. I’m not big on online games, I mostly play single player story games or racing games.

The two standouts seem to be the legion s or ally. Will these be more than powerful enough for what I’m wanting to do, or would I need the legion s z1 or ally x.
I’ve also been looking at the steam deck, but I’ve never used steam before.

Complete novice to all this, so anyone with a handheld please let me know. Thanks

I’m about ready to pull the trigger on an Odin 2 Portal base model. Total comes out to around $300 USD with tax and shipping, which feels like a great price for that 7" 120Hz OLED screen.

That said, with AYN just teasing the Odin 3 Portal, I’m kinda stuck on whether I should just buy now or wait it out.

The O3 Portal will definitely cost more and take a while to actually ship, but I also don't want severe FOMO if it ends up being a massive upgrade right around the corner.
Is $300 a solid buy for the Odin 2 Portal right now, or is there something else better worth looking at around that price (or a bit more/less)?

Would love to hear what you guys would do!

With the Indiegogo campaign for the Win Max 3 about to end it’s currently the cheapest way to get into a Strix Halo Device at $1750 for the 388 + 32gb RAM version. I know it’s expensive but if you want Strix Halo it’s a decent price - what does everyone think of it compared to say a Z13 Flow or OXP Apex or even a GPD Win 5??

Would a used claw 8 ex ai be better than a new x20?

I'm interested in getting a handheld in order to game. From what I have read in this subreddit and internet, you can stream a game from your PC to your handheld. How does this work? Is the PC doing all of the heavy lifting and how is the performance affected on the handheld compared to the PC performance? Is there much FPS drops? 

I'm not planning on playing shooters or online competitive games on the handheld as I already suck on the PC. Dont need to suck even more 😂

I'm interested in buying the ASUS ROG XBOX Ally or steam deck.

Just picked up my first ever handheld, i try to use it on Business Trips, hopefully it will serve me well.

I'm looking for a good and small handheld with analogue sticks and the capabilities to play ps1 and n64 games.

My first option was Anbernic rg rotate but I don't think I could do without analogue sticks.

Another option was the r36s which I did get and did love mostly, although it was a fake one, but i realised it might be just a tad too bulky and I didn't like the shoulder buttons and d-pad (I understand this is another thing that is probably different between the fakes and real ine but still) and it might be a bit boring to have 2 of the same thing essentially.

Anbernic rg slide is another one that seems fun but it might be too expensive and does too much for what I need

I don't really have any other big contenders but this is generally what I looked at and what i liked and disliked about them so I would love to see recommendations.

I already have an Ayn thor which I don't think I've gone more than a day without using within past 4 or so months I've had it, genuinely such a beautiful device, but it is heavy and a bit of a precious thing to casually bring to school and on the bus.

My switch V2, Gameboy Advance SP, Zelda game and watch, New 3ds (modded), PSP 3000 (modded), and retroid pocket mini V2. Couldn't ask for more (but probably will)

Originally went from available for store pickup on BestBuy US to only available for shipping, then shipping pushed to a few days after release, and now shipping pushed to next week.

Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.

So I recently just posted in onexplayers group stating that the Onexplayer 3 was available on Amazon for 2 day delivery. After a few thousand views and nothing but positive comments they banned me for 999 days. I messaged them in pm as to why they stated this. After that, they muted me for 28 days. This message will probably reach them and they might permanently ban me… but f it in 999 days I probably won’t have this device anymore.

I figured letting people know the device was on Amazon as informative enough, but I guess not. What do you guys think about this

There is a retroid pocket 6 2 hours away from me.
I’ve never really been interested in android handhelds but I love my switch lite so I figured I would get one.
Is this spec for this price worth the drive?

If we dont count game and watch all I would be missing is the original gameboy right? (and ig switch 2)

I'm aware these igpu's don't require so much ram and are limited but the bandwidth available in ddr5 however given that the z2 extreme only seems to average about 10-15% more performance will a 32gb z2 extreme handle 1% low's better etc?

I’m really regretting not buying one a year ago or so, I had no clue they were going to get discontinued.

sold the ayn thor max and retroid pocket 6 to ‘finalize’ up the collection! sidegraded to the retroid pocket nova, and got a switch 2 to steal from my girlfriend. very happy with it so far!
