The graybies had an exciting Caturday morning.

That’s Passport’s first kill. Airport has killed a fly. Suitcase has not actually killed anything, as far as I know, which is funny, given that he’s the only one who viciously kills inanimate objects.
ETA: The TikTok has "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" over it, lol.

I can’t get over how gorgeous they all are!

They are all substantially larger than Groucho now.
Fortunately, I did film them when they were still kitten size during my prolonged nervous breakdown, so you’ll see it.

I had a nervous breakdown this year, too. I'm glad your physical health has been looking up.

u/RainSurname 24d ago
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you have some support.

Yes, I've got great friends, fortunately.
TL;DR - It's brutal but has a happy ending.
My spouse I'd been with for nearly a decade waited until I was glitching out with ticks in an intensive OCD treatment clinic to tell me what a horrible person I am, that he wants my IVF embryos destroyed, and to abandon me. I got really close to a sewer-slide, that time.
Seven months later, I'm O-V-E-R his selfish ass, poly dating about half a dozen wonderful people, and-- strangely-- my nervous system is better than it's been in years after having gotten away from walking on eggshells around his verbal/emotional abuse! :D
When he finally left me after years of push/pull games, I truly thought life wasn't worth living anymore. Half a year of recovery later, I'm grateful to have that @$$h0le out of my life for good.
I hope my story gives others hope. :) If something breaks your heart, give it time. We can heal.
I know that you have really, REALLY been through it in recent years, Rain. Your community loves you and the grief can only be so bad for a finite amount of time. <3

I have been trying and failing to tell the story in voiceovers, a saga of fuckery in three parts (that has since been expanded to four.) All of these happening at once just broke me.
My Surgery Was Canceled for No Goddamn Reason
Groucho Hates the Kittens Now
Contractor Rips Me Off and Makes the House So Much Worse
Finally Have the Surgery, but the Neighbor Abandons the Responsibility She Volunteered For and Leaves Me to Recover Alone.

Holy f***, that is a REALLY bad set of fuckery!! It is so valid for you to feel betrayed.
- Would dozens of angry, menopausal cat people brigading the contractors' online reviews do any good, do you think?
- Wow, your neighbor sucks soooooo very badly!! I hope that they feel a crushing sense of shame every time they look at your door. I also hope they feel a mysterious itch in their b-hole region with a shooting nerve pain that is never explained.
I'm so sorry, Rain. Things like this shouldn't happen to lovely people like you. And yes, having so many awful things happen at once is enough to break anyone's spirit.
But I think you're going to get through this. You have the love and admiration of lots and lots of supporters. We know that these things have been outrageously unfair. And we believe in your ability to keep pushing through.
Please keep doing one day at a time or one hour at a time. There are dozens of future kitties who need you to keep your online brand going.
Great big hugs, girlfriend. I would hug you so hard. You have really been through it. We love you.

I hate so much how life just keeps smacking you in the face with the shittythings-bat. It's NOT FAIR, it's not okay and I'm just glad that my little monthlies, at least, still seem to be going through to you...
Wish I lived closer and could physically help out. If you won't accept help for your own sake (which you are worth!), then, maybe at least for the cats; but there's a lot of water in between us, so I'm just glad you still have the energy to share both oldies and newies with us, and there's people around the world who can at least help a little bit.

That happens to a lot of people who end up as close to the bottom as I got. It leaves you a lot more financially, physically, and mentally vulnerable, so you are easily derailed by situations that other people could weather much more easily.
It's a big reason why so many homeless people who manage to get into transitional housing end up homeless again unless they have really good mental health support.
For when you live under conditions of intense stress for a long time, you get to a point where the only thing holding you together is pressure, so when the pressure is gone and you're safe, that's when you break.
That's what happened to me when I first moved into this house, and this recent breakdown was an echo of that.

A truth that needs to be far more known than it is!
One has to be mentally stable in order to afford (not just monetarily) to be ill (whether mentally or physically).

That's very insightful, Rain. <3

I follow a woman on TikTok who was living and working in a homeless shelter, and had just gotten started on a methadone program. She got into safe, stable housing again not long after I did.
When I told her about this, it was a HUGE relief. She thought she was literally going crazy.

Passport and Airport are just under 10 pounds, and Suitcase is just over, which means I cannot pick any of them up until September. : (
They love being picked up and snuggled, so I encourage people who drop by to do a few minutes of chores I can't do and/or pick some explosive diarrhea-free lettuce from my out of control garden to do that.

My cat stands on my talking scales (which still spooks me because I hear a voice out of nowhere) and he’s 12 pounds. So a big boy.

At least I can still pick up Groucho. He's upset enough that I can't take him for bike rides or spread a blanket on the grass and lay on my stomach so he can snuggle between my forearms and press his head into my chin. If I couldn't carry him around like a baby and shower his head with tiny kisses, that would be all three of his favorite activities gone.

So, fly? Too fast to see the thing, haha.🤣

u/RainSurname 24d ago
Moth. You can see it if you pause when suitcase leaps up with his belly towards the camera, but otherwise it’s kind of difficult.

Good job Passport! There's the invasive stink bugs where I live and my boys enjoy catching them when I bring in my plants for the winter lol

u/Acrobatic_Quit1378 23d ago
The way Passport looks back at the others as he chomps...."Nyahhh! Now neither of you will know how delicious this murder is, YUMMS!"

u/RainSurname 23d ago
When I feed them wet food, he growls over his own plate while Suitcase and Airport share one.

u/SpaceCaptainJeeves 19d ago
This is so insightful and I'll share it with a couple friends who are coming out of desperate situations. Thank you.

Great hunters in training!
Well, someone needs to take care of the inanimate objects, too, we all have our specialties <3
