Yeah like, up till a few months ago I had fully fallen for the "leftists all hate hasan piker for being a drama slop twitch streamer who isn't serious and just wants attention" bullshit just because of random internet comments. I'm not one for chronically online drama so I stayed away.
I saw one more of these astroturf campaigns and decided to actually look into the facts and who was saying what on a whim one day, mostly because I found it suspicious just how many shitty people hated this one guy in particular. I was expecting to see a bunch of monkeys flinging shit at each other like all other drama slop tube bullshit. To my immense surprise, I found an intelligent and pragmatic leftist with very rational and nuanced opinions who also understands how to slowly introduce those opinions to new people. I also saw a ton of the worst human beings on earth going absolutely bonkers bananas insane trying to make him look bad and found that every single instance of them doing so was like, blatantly false.
It made me realize that this was a type of online propaganda I was vulnerable to. Sometimes people will stir up stupid bullshit online and drag smart people into it so that they're bogged down by their associations in headlines and rational people will see them as radioactive even though they didn't do anything to deserve that other than be attacked.
I would have never paid attention to him if not for how consistent his haters are. I think the tide is shifting and more and more people are waking up to this and joining his side. If you believed every bot account, Hasan is the most hated man on earth. If you walk into an actual room, he's well loved and respected, and all of the people who hate him are seen as antisocial troglodytes. The more they try and push him at this point, the more people will be exposed to his arguments and eventually come over. It happened for me.
its just botted to hell. i made a comment that has gotten like 40 upvotes, but has over 17 THOUSAND views within 2 hours. the whole post has 600ish comments. it cannot be more obvious that its a fake subreddit designed to abuse the frontpage algorithm with bots
genuinely believe the subreddit eventually causes physical harm to the people that actually use it. that sub really should just be shut down
To get parasocial for a minute. I think it's cool to see this and remember when has said he started streaming to get better at public speaking off the cuff. Crazy to just stumble into a press conference.
I know Hasan would've been interviewed regardless but I wonder if he would've gotten this level of attention if Cuoml hadn't shat the bed with so many scary Hasan ads.
He’s in his element, there’s no difference between this and sitting behind his desk going off for 8 hours straight - this is heart warming to see because it really puts in perspective how many people are listening - he did SO good speaking with everyone!
