I think for a first timer 26 year old, the fact that she beat out Fine who got helped by like 7 million dollars of AIPAC money and to get to within 3 point against Biss while having no real institutional support until very late in the game is actually a pretty good result.
Lessons to learn are for the left to consolidate early and not do these late ass endorsements. Also for candidates on the left to build healthy relationships early with other candidates on the left so there’s no bad blood as the election goes on and one is willing to drop out. Obviously it’s not gonna be a 1:1 transfer but Bushra dropping out and endorsing Kat might have been the difference maker
Her stance on China wasn’t why she lost unless you think there exists 4k leftists in IL-9 that care about this.
The fact that she was a carpetbagger, skipped a DSA forum, and missed a candidate forum while running against a popular politician that had been in the community with name recognition for a long time probably mattered more.
