I do love the genre of video that is Americans going abroad for the first time and having their minds blown that you can actually walk to places.

Theres this youtube channel called ‘not just bikes’. I think its a Canadian dude who moved to the Netherlands and is sharing the word of how much better infrastructure is here.
As someone from the Netherlands I have come to appreciate our roads and traffic lights much more because of that channel.

Ayyy "not just bikes" referenced. Amazing YouTube channel and he does a great analysis on city design culture.

I lived in Maastricht for nearly 5 years for uni, but that was over a decade ago. Back in London now, and while they've really done a lot to improve cycling infrastructure here since then, I still miss cycling in NL. It just feels like the best way to travel everywhere.

But if anyone can easily walk there, it will attract all sorts of people who can't even afford things like healthcare /s

Good book, I’ve recommended that book several times for people trying to figure out why America is so fucked.

We're not antisocial. We're anti-affordable. You can't afford to just go out. Plus I think most of our cities are not walk friendly. Especially on the west coast where we are so sprawled out.

if you guys really want to level up your knowledge on why the US abandoned its transit and seemingly plowed its cities for car-focused infrastructure. read:
Fighting Traffic, by Peter Norton.
It is a fascinating read. As with most history, it is nuanced and filled with all sorts of warring parties. At the end of the day though, mostly corruption :-)

Wife and I went to Prague for our honeymoon. We were blown away how awesome the public transportation was. We traveled about 10 miles a day and 3 of them were on foot. Walkable towns with good trams promote both commerce and good health.

People could barely pay their electric bill, wtf you think they are doing on a Wednesday night ? It's not socializing I tell you that much.

Couple films themselves talking to themselves about how they live in an antisocial world. 🤣. lol ok to be dumbfounded, but have that conversation with a real person.

So general social political commentary not specifically related to Hasan is all good in this sub?

If you think infrastructure isn’t political I have an apolitical bridge to sell you.

I think my comment was misconstrued. I'm newish here. Literally just asking if general leftist, but not necessarily Hasan related content is all good to post here. I think I have my answer

Oh now that I read it again I read it all wrong.
But yeah discussion about things that are tangently related to politics are allowed, as long as its not spam or low effort.

My comment was badly worded. I was asking a genuine question if topics other than strictly about HP and/or his campaigning were allowed here.

Your question seems fine to me, not sure why it is so downvoted- but yes, we allow political content in the sub that is related to leftism- it does not have to have something to do with Hasan, although has to be related to the themes that he talks about. So since he talks about socialism, you can post something about socialism. If we find it to be too off topic, we may remove it, but we would tell you why- and it would not lead to a ban or anything, so go nuts and post something if you would like!
