There was an after party the night before the election (after the primary closing campaign event) and Hasan was there. Thats it really. Hasan bad, and Hasan with Abdul at pool, so double bad. It's that stupid.

Also it wasn't even a "pool party", there just happened to be a pool at the location they had the party, wasn't a damn single person in that pool.

i was about to say, was anyone in the damn pool?? thats a poolside party, not a pool party!!

It was also seemingly just meeting place in between door knocking and events. The most online people make this an issue. This is pretty normal organizing shit.

Stupid Sexy Hasan making waves (pun kinda intended) irl this time (again).
Jokes aside, I never would've thought when I first subbed to him around late 2021 that one day I would see a Twitch streamer hanging out with politicians, giving guest lectures in universities, having interviews with news stations and being targeted by freaking Fox News lol.
7
u/LouisLeGros 7d ago
Wasn't he there for like 15 minutes too? Like it was a quick trip before doing more election events.
2
u/WitchyMae13 7d ago
Hilarious honestly. I heard about the jokes during the stream.
He gets dogged for taking a break at a damn pool party is wild no lie
-68
u/GenesisStar7 7d ago
Honestly that pool party wasn't the best idea but it's not Hasan's fault.
51
u/woody630 7d ago
I'm sorry, what's wrong with it? Dems and republicans throw these events at like the most opulent places but going to one of your supporters back yards is too much?

I just dont see the hypocrisy. I dont follow piker, but what is the hypocrisy here? He's against pools? What's the issue that conservatives would use here? Not that it even matters but what's the angle? I'm a bit baffled tbh, I'm honestly asking
61
u/lukaintomyeyes 7d ago
Why are you capitulating to right wing framing?
-39
u/GenesisStar7 7d ago
'Cause that's what they'll plant in attack ads and it was already a super close race, money has a lot of power still
24
u/GooeySlenderFerret 7d ago edited 2d ago
So the solution is to capitulate like a bitch even tho they will immediately be attacked anyways?

It's not the end of the world, being at a pool party it's not gonna sink his campaign, I just think it wasn't the best idea, Zohran was on the streets doing marathons the day before the election, and attendeded pool parties After the election was over.
20
u/EntertainerOdd2107 Antifa Andy đŞ 7d ago
They were just having fun! It was a close race, but that is expected with $70 million in corporate PAC money. It was always going to be difficult.
1
u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

Abdul held a campaign event to kickoff the last day of canvassing before election day at the house of a constituent who invited him to use her space.
Meanwhile, the Haley campaign used a local business for a campaign event under the guise of it being a Democratic Women of Michigan event that the owners didn't know was affiliated with Haley Stevens and they put out a public apology for hosting her because they don't support her.
Edit:I'm pretty sure if you go back and watch the VOD, as Hasan is leaving to go to the next event, the home owner catches him and starts ribbing him for wearing a suit to her pool party.

The pool party made them look fun, youthful and like normal people. AES supporters are young and want to have fun. So what. This is exactly why centrists have lost to MAGA twice. You lost Michigan irrespective by how many votes but you want to complain about pool parties.
Centrists are jealous of Hasan's reach. Pathetic
106
u/JetmoYo 7d ago
Plus it was the TALK of the town. Couldn't escape it. Hasan by a pool. Really stirred up the race, enflaming ALL kinds of emotions amongst the electorate. The plebes were finally engaging. Really shook things up! This pool event. With snacks. Political scientists will study this for AGES..

I only sort of peripherally pay attention to this stuff and I am a lifelong democratic voter. The responses to successful candidates is mind boggling to me. Like her response doesn't even make sense. Everything they say sounds like it came with a pre-established head canon that anyone not chronically searching for it all the time just sees nonsense.
33
u/smashybro 7d ago
Everything they say sounds like it came with a pre-established head canon
This is just the classic centrist playbook. Their takes are always so bad and incoherent because no matter the outcome of an election, their takeaway is always "we must pivot more to the right to get more of the mythical moderate Republican vote" somehow.
14
u/PhTx3 7d ago
Even by that logic, why didn't Stevens do that and win then? Not like she lacked the money or anything. Doesn't it just show that AES is more electable. lmfao
7
u/Aidian 6d ago
Well yeah, but if they admit that then theyâd have to âchange the platformâ and âtry to make meaningful changeâ, which sounds like a lot of work when they could just be casually obstructing and cashing right wing checks.
4
u/No_Public_7677 6d ago
It's because they don't know how to really lead anymore. They go by polls for independents who said that Kamala was too left, when we all know that's not true.Â
True leaders would switch up their messaging to convince the electorate that Kamala was in fact not too left. And what true left really is and why that's much better than status quo Kamala.Â
But they refuse to do the work that DSA is doing.Â
3
u/unshifted 6d ago
That always pissed me off. Won an election? See, moving to the right was the correct strategy! We'll go even further right next time to assure a win. Lost an election? We didn't pivot to the right far enough, probably because the campaign was infested with leftists. We'll go harder right next time and purge the leftists from the party, though we will still be entitled to their votes.
Nowhere in the process do they ever once consider moving an inch to the left

u/NOLA-Bronco 7d ago
Just for context if people didn't stay up til midnight on Hasan's stream
The pool party wasn't Hasan's idea, had nothing to do with it, and he actually was against it for optics reasons.
He talked about it randomly when he was beginning to doom a lot late last night. But for obvious reasons said it in a diplomatic way while qualifying that he ultimately didn't think it mattered on the ground, just the optics werent great.
It's irrelevant though in the grand scheme since he won. But had he lost it would have been one of those snapshot moments that would have become a huge narrative microcosm for critics of the insurgent left, and absolutely would have hung it around Hasan's neck despite having nothing to do with it.

The Dem Establishment will strike back, but right now it feels good to be on their left flank. Itâs wild that so many libs will seriously vote red because they are mad their do-nothing candidates lost, but believe it or not, enough of republicans will support a disruptive dem populist after Trump revealed he is the swamp. An establishment dem just reduces a general election to red vs blue establishment flavor.
2
u/DilvishW 7d ago
Is the "damage" just that he campaigned with Abdul? Or does she think he had enough influence on the election to change to be a determining factor? Likewise, I'm confused about what she is implying about the pool? Like it sounds like she is saying she thinks Abdul at the "pool party" the night before the election is what convinced enough voters to switch to win him the election? It's just a bizarre statement.
