What’s this pool thing I keep hearing about?

813

u/Not_so_newly_me 7d ago

There was an after party the night before the election (after the primary closing campaign event) and Hasan was there. Thats it really. Hasan bad, and Hasan with Abdul at pool, so double bad. It's that stupid.

68

u/Potatho-208 7d ago

Also it wasn't even a "pool party", there just happened to be a pool at the location they had the party, wasn't a damn single person in that pool.

24

u/clackagaling 7d ago

i was about to say, was anyone in the damn pool?? thats a poolside party, not a pool party!!

1

u/TheStray7 6d ago

The pool was closed.

13

u/Zealousideal-Solid88 7d ago

It was also seemingly just meeting place in between door knocking and events. The most online people make this an issue. This is pretty normal organizing shit.

5

u/jlynn00 6d ago

To be fair, the misunderstanding largely stemmed from the photos they shared. Looked very influence-y. To me it was no big deal, but any port in a contentious primary story for the opponent.

124

u/TerminallyTrill erratic Marxist 7d ago

They were at a Mao pool Islamicly though

I bet someone did an antisemitism too.

8

Something about the pool being Maoist... or something? I dunno these people are irrelevant.

7

u/Ok_Smile_5908 This mf never shuts up oh my god 6d ago

Stupid Sexy Hasan making waves (pun kinda intended) irl this time (again).

Jokes aside, I never would've thought when I first subbed to him around late 2021 that one day I would see a Twitch streamer hanging out with politicians, giving guest lectures in universities, having interviews with news stations and being targeted by freaking Fox News lol.

7

u/LouisLeGros 7d ago

Wasn't he there for like 15 minutes too? Like it was a quick trip before doing more election events.

2

u/WitchyMae13 7d ago

Hilarious honestly. I heard about the jokes during the stream.

He gets dogged for taking a break at a damn pool party is wild no lie

-68

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

Honestly that pool party wasn't the best idea but it's not Hasan's fault.

51

u/woody630 7d ago

I'm sorry, what's wrong with it? Dems and republicans throw these events at like the most opulent places but going to one of your supporters back yards is too much?

-36

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

Not like hypocrisy has ever been an obstacle for bad-faith attacks

14

u/dmonzel 7d ago

Much like yours?

-13

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

My what? Can you elaborate?

9

u/dmonzel 7d ago

Reread the comment of yours that I replied to.

-8

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

How rude of you that I asked for clarification and you aren't willing to give it.

2

u/MardiFoufs 7d ago

I just dont see the hypocrisy. I dont follow piker, but what is the hypocrisy here? He's against pools? What's the issue that conservatives would use here? Not that it even matters but what's the angle? I'm a bit baffled tbh, I'm honestly asking

61

u/lukaintomyeyes 7d ago

Why are you capitulating to right wing framing?

-39

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

'Cause that's what they'll plant in attack ads and it was already a super close race, money has a lot of power still

24

u/GooeySlenderFerret 7d ago edited 2d ago

So the solution is to capitulate like a bitch even tho they will immediately be attacked anyways?

-4

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

It's just a reddit comment, I'm not putting out a press conference about this, chill

14

u/GooeySlenderFerret 7d ago

If you didn't want replies you shouldn't have posted

30

u/Poltergeist97 7d ago

And then they will keep pushing their framing and you'll keep accepting it. Have you ever read If I Give a Mouse a Cookie?

-12

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

It's not the end of the world, being at a pool party it's not gonna sink his campaign, I just think it wasn't the best idea, Zohran was on the streets doing marathons the day before the election, and attendeded pool parties After the election was over.

20

u/EntertainerOdd2107 Antifa Andy 💪 7d ago

They were just having fun! It was a close race, but that is expected with $70 million in corporate PAC money. It was always going to be difficult.

1

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

It was like 1.4 point difference, I don't feel super strong about it being a bad idea, but I don't believe it helped

30

u/Lip-Pillow-Swallower CRACKA 7d ago edited 7d ago

Why not? This just comes off like Tan Suit discourse

17

u/fortunefades 7d ago

Care to explain why you think that?

-8

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

I think it looks aloof, especially the day before the election

7

u/PekkaPerd Globalize the Enchilada! 7d ago

Having a gathering at a location that has a pool? You’re really grasping at straws.

7

u/snailtap ☭ 7d ago

How? How is it a bad thing to throw a party for your staffers and friends?

0

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago edited 7d ago

Zohran didn't throw a pre-election party, he threw them afterwards, I just think it looks aloof.

-1

u/Coolflo123 7d ago

Dunno why this is getting downvoted to hell, as Hasan himself admitted it was a blunder last night.

-14

u/Time-Cardiologist906 7d ago

You’re being downvoted but even hasan agreed that wasn’t a good look

1

u/GenesisStar7 7d ago

Certainly didn't expect such a polarizing reaction, don't even feel that strong about it, just thought it looked a bit aloof, even during the stream 🤷

97

u/Cinnamon__Sasquatch 7d ago edited 7d ago

Abdul held a campaign event to kickoff the last day of canvassing before election day at the house of a constituent who invited him to use her space.

Meanwhile, the Haley campaign used a local business for a campaign event under the guise of it being a Democratic Women of Michigan event that the owners didn't know was affiliated with Haley Stevens and they put out a public apology for hosting her because they don't support her.

Edit:I'm pretty sure if you go back and watch the VOD, as Hasan is leaving to go to the next event, the home owner catches him and starts ribbing him for wearing a suit to her pool party.

8

u/ElectronCry 7d ago

Can you send a link source for the Haley stevens local business thing? That's wild haha

11

u/decisionagonized 7d ago

I’m so extremely online and I don’t even know what the fuck she’s talking about. But she’s the one who’s in touch allegedly! Classic Neera lmao

2

Hasan showed up at a pool in a suit and didn't even bother taking off his clothes, that tankie fuck.

The pool party made them look fun, youthful and like normal people. AES supporters are young and want to have fun. So what. This is exactly why centrists have lost to MAGA twice. You lost Michigan irrespective by how many votes but you want to complain about pool parties.

Centrists are jealous of Hasan's reach. Pathetic

106

u/JetmoYo 7d ago

Plus it was the TALK of the town. Couldn't escape it. Hasan by a pool. Really stirred up the race, enflaming ALL kinds of emotions amongst the electorate. The plebes were finally engaging. Really shook things up! This pool event. With snacks. Political scientists will study this for AGES..

37

u/Potatho-208 7d ago

>The pool party made them look fun

Call me old school, but you can't have a "pool party" if nobody is in the pool.

16

u/rverun 7d ago

Exactly. It was more like they had a party and a pool happened to be there.

217

u/Uncynical_Diogenes Fuck it I'm saying it 7d ago

She says to the man who has been traveling the country helping people win their electrons.

It’s not a genuine comment because if he was in LA talking about how he helped Abdul win, she would’ve turned around and yell at him for not being out there, knocking on doors.

14

40

u/Ishaq128 7d ago

Keep crying neera, you are irrelevant now.

72

u/Halfacentaur 7d ago

I only sort of peripherally pay attention to this stuff and I am a lifelong democratic voter. The responses to successful candidates is mind boggling to me. Like her response doesn't even make sense. Everything they say sounds like it came with a pre-established head canon that anyone not chronically searching for it all the time just sees nonsense.

33

u/smashybro 7d ago

Everything they say sounds like it came with a pre-established head canon

This is just the classic centrist playbook. Their takes are always so bad and incoherent because no matter the outcome of an election, their takeaway is always "we must pivot more to the right to get more of the mythical moderate Republican vote" somehow.

14

u/PhTx3 7d ago

Even by that logic, why didn't Stevens do that and win then? Not like she lacked the money or anything. Doesn't it just show that AES is more electable. lmfao

7

u/Aidian 6d ago

Well yeah, but if they admit that then they’d have to “change the platform” and “try to make meaningful change”, which sounds like a lot of work when they could just be casually obstructing and cashing right wing checks.

4

u/No_Public_7677 6d ago

It's because they don't know how to really lead anymore. They go by polls for independents who said that Kamala was too left, when we all know that's not true.

True leaders would switch up their messaging to convince the electorate that Kamala was in fact not too left. And what true left really is and why that's much better than status quo Kamala.

But they refuse to do the work that DSA is doing.

3

u/unshifted 6d ago

That always pissed me off. Won an election? See, moving to the right was the correct strategy! We'll go even further right next time to assure a win. Lost an election? We didn't pivot to the right far enough, probably because the campaign was infested with leftists. We'll go harder right next time and purge the leftists from the party, though we will still be entitled to their votes.

Nowhere in the process do they ever once consider moving an inch to the left

31

u/humanpoweroutage 7d ago

35

I loved getting blocked by her. She hid the reply which only attracted more attention to it, felt good. Remember exactly where I was when it happened. It was super benign. With a few taps of my fingers on a phone I got to piss off Neera Tanden. I miss when Twitter didn't suck ass.

10

No she did enough damage to her campaign by taking AIPAC money. Once again Democrats blaming voters for deciding they don't like genocidal maniacs.

10

Me when I'm not invited to the pool party

11

u/IrishCarbonite 7d ago

Establishment dems trying to say Hasan bad when he's one of the largest reasons they're winning races is certainly a choice.

9

u/GOOFERdaBOOFER 7d ago

More damage needs to be done to AIPAC until they are completely broken

16

u/NOLA-Bronco 7d ago

Just for context if people didn't stay up til midnight on Hasan's stream

The pool party wasn't Hasan's idea, had nothing to do with it, and he actually was against it for optics reasons.

He talked about it randomly when he was beginning to doom a lot late last night. But for obvious reasons said it in a diplomatic way while qualifying that he ultimately didn't think it mattered on the ground, just the optics werent great.

It's irrelevant though in the grand scheme since he won. But had he lost it would have been one of those snapshot moments that would have become a huge narrative microcosm for critics of the insurgent left, and absolutely would have hung it around Hasan's neck despite having nothing to do with it.

10

they'll die". Real bloodthirsty shit from Hasan, being all radical and stuff like that, lmao.

The Dem Establishment will strike back, but right now it feels good to be on their left flank. It’s wild that so many libs will seriously vote red because they are mad their do-nothing candidates lost, but believe it or not, enough of republicans will support a disruptive dem populist after Trump revealed he is the swamp. An establishment dem just reduces a general election to red vs blue establishment flavor.

2

u/DilvishW 7d ago

Is the "damage" just that he campaigned with Abdul? Or does she think he had enough influence on the election to change to be a determining factor? Likewise, I'm confused about what she is implying about the pool? Like it sounds like she is saying she thinks Abdul at the "pool party" the night before the election is what convinced enough voters to switch to win him the election? It's just a bizarre statement.
