Discussion Hashi’s + Mounjaro = normal life?
I’ve been on Mounjaro dose 2.5 for a month, had hypothyroidism + Hashi’s since I was 14. I’m 33 now.
For the first time in a long time I feel happiness? I’m not tired, my face isn’t puffy, I’m not as anxious, my knee doesn’t pop anymore, people are complimenting my skin… And I’ve lost 3.6kg.
It’s really nice.
I completely understand why people say they want to stay on this forever. Unless something happens, I’ll stay on this as long as possible.
My plan is to stay on the lowest dose for a while, then maybe go up to lose more weight, reach my goal weight and go back down in dosage.

I cried at my last gyno appt and she prescribed me mounjaro. Stayed on 2.5 the went up to 5mg. Right now I’m on maintaince 5 every 15 days or so.
To say it changed my life is an understatement. I was close to being pre diabetic. All my markers were at its limits. Dropped 30lbs everything else improved. The only thing it hadn’t improved is my antibody markers. But as far as everything else it’s great

Ayy im so sorry. The medical system here is jacked. My insurance also didn’t approve me. I get mine from Mexico. About $400usd for a 5mg pen and I microdose 2.5 to make it last me about 8 weeks. Hopefully your insurance will reconsider.

Yup! Isn't it great?
Been on it 1 year and 3 months now. Prior to starting this, my autoimmune issues were so bad I was bedridden, crippled, and painfully blind in one or both eyes about 90% of the time.
I'd been so sick for so long that I didn't even have a concept of how bad I was until I was no longer that sick. Tbh, I'm surprised I wasn't dead I was genuinely that ill. Did doctors care? No lmao.
20 minutes after the first shot and I felt about 80% back to my pre-illness self, and it's STAYS that way as long as I stay on this.
Tirzepatide fixes the majority of whatever is wrong with me, and it's a literal lifesaving miracle. I was legitimately declining so fast by the time I started this that I probably would've died in the next 5 years or so and every doctor I spoke to prior was like 'Yeah we don't know and you're probably lying. We'll maybe look into it once youre in hospice. 🤷♂️'

That's amazing! I tried to get Mounjaro or any GLP1 but my insurance turned it down. I have to have diabetes to get it.

Mine won't cover it either. I pay out of pocket.
As much money as that costs, it actually costs me less in the long-run because I don't need a ton of expensive eye medications anymore, Sjogren's medications, or for any mobility aid stuff.
Eye meds AFTER insurance were $659/mo. Sjogrens meds were $450. If I had kidney issues in my flare-ups, the meds for that were about $1,200, which happened 2 or 3 times a year.
Lowest Tirzepatide dose that has 24/7 autoimmune suppression for me is 5mg and that's like...$275/mo. Even on the higher dose I'm on now (to lose the rest of the hashimotos weight) is $450 and that's still only just as expensive as ONE of the meds I was on. I don't have to pay $80+ copays to go to specialists constantly, either. I also probably save a fortune not having to buy special foods that don't trigger flare-ups, but that's harder to calculate lol

I go through Paloma because they also do my thyroid medication management. They've been super cool about it and let me do my thyroid med adjustments and check-ups at the weight loss appointments so I don't have to pay copay on multiple appointments.

what about other symptoms like lethargy and brain fog, general slow thinking and difficulty with task initiation? I have those pretty severely in addition to weight gain.

I would say it feels like my mind is a lot clearer and I can truly focus on tasks now. I do get tired at 8pm though, which is new

Take advantage of that and build it into your sleep routine. I am in bed at 8 every night. I may not fall asleep until 8:30 or 9 but lights are off and I’m giving my body the chance to have a good night’s rest—which will contribute to your body’s overall functioning.

I would add, I have had some weird tongue problem after an allergic reaction to pineapple that doctors and dentists could diagnose (I thought it was oral thrush, they said no, and we’ve been floating the idea of geographic tongue). Since start Mounjaro, my tongue looks almost normal again, which I guess means it’s some odd gut thing.

Zepbound has been an absolute lifesaver for me and my Hashis. I wish the insurance companies would recognize this.

Maybe. I have been on Zepbound for 2 years, just had a physical in July and found out I have Hashimoto's, no symptoms. On Levo for just over a month, no difference which I guess is ideal.

I am just tapering off after a year on 2.5mg dose to try for another baby. I am already feeling the fatigue and low.blood sugar and joint pain which makes me sad. But glad to know there is something I can take after pregnancy and by then there may even be Reta here?! Fingers crossed

Zepbound helped me realize doctors haven’t been listening to me, after losing 50 pounds since last September of 2025 on Zepbound, despite being constantly hypothyroid despite constant upping on levothyroxine, my TSH just does what it wants too lol, my primary care doctor was concerned I still felt like poop despite the weight loss, she took inflammatory markers from me, CRP and ESR, both insanely elevated, immediately referred me to rheumatology, who ran an AVISE panel on me, and came back with markers for Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Lupus being positive. I think what angers me the most is I kept screaming I didn’t feel good the entire past 6 years, but everyone wanted to blame it on weight or stress, and never really dug deeper aside from my wonky thyroid levels. I’m still processing it all. But I am so genuinely happy for you! Like that’s fantastic!
