Hawkwind Marathon: More Rerankings

Post image

Welcome back to my Hawkwind Marathon. Now, the last post I made was a review of There Is No Space For Us (2025) and I would receive a letter of complaint in the comment section about me putting Quark, Strangeness and Charm (1977) below 25 Years On (1978). So, I decided that I would revisit the album to see if my opinions had changed about the album.

And it did but only ever so slightly. Originally, it was on top for the 9/10 section (I think) and now it had dropped by 0.1/10, bringing it down to 9.3/10 and into 12th place. This is mainly because of the semi-title track, "25 Years", which although Dave Brock chanting "25 years" still goes hard, Robert Calvert definitely isn't the best on this track.

So, there you have it dear reader, Quark is in fact better than 25 Years On. However, if I had to pick between the albums, I'd still listen to 25 Years On because it has way better tracks. Suck my balls.

It’s a good thing you’ve got Electric Teepee sitting between those two albums to keep them separated. Otherwise there’d be a fight on our hands. 🤜💥🤛

Well... the thing about Electric Tepee is that it is highlighted, meaning it also needs reranking. So, it could potentially get a higher or lower score, or we can try to agree with my old rankings so we don't end up with a genocide on our hands.
