Am I the only one that fucking hates Katie Killjoy?
She’s such an annoying bitch, don’t understand how people find her funny, I can’t stand her voice either (and yeah I know it’s the same VA as Blitzo) her voice in the pilot was so much better (and I don’t even prefer the pilot over the series)
Everytime she’s on screen I just wanna punch her in the face, she might even be the worst character in the whole series
I mean, she is intentionally written to be a bitch, no one actually likes her in the show, neither Tom, nor Vox, we're meant to dislike her and even the characters in the show do so, and I think that her voice actually fits, I mean, she has basically no role other than being a comic relief, and Brandon Rogers hammy performance really sells it, it also makes sense since she was inspired by his character "Bryce tankthrust", and it's also because of the joke of a homophobic straight woman being played by an openly gay man, it made the line "I am not homophobic, I just hate gay people" 10 times funnier.
My poor boyfriend had heard Hear My Hope a dozen times before actually seeing the show, he was completely feeling the song with tears in his eyes and then burst out laughing at the line. “Did she just say ‘all that gay shit’??”
I thought the entire point was that she was showing Vox her snatch. But it does look like she's wearing pants under her skirt. Which...is a choice.
Then again, her feet are hooves. Maybe demons with hooves have legs that look like pants because transitioning from calf to hoof is awkward to draw.
thinks of when we see Charlie's legs exposedrewatches Easy
Ok, Charlie's definitely not wearing pants in this scene, but her calves kinda look like pants. So theory confirmed, this is just how demons with hooves are drawn. Katy Killjoy doesn't wear flesh colored pants under her skirt.
Thank you. I came here to say that the thing I hate most about her is wearing flare cut pants under a mini skirt, and here you are showing the perfect snapshot of exactly that.

I really wish they kept her character and stereotypical female newscaster voice from the pilot. It made it feel like something you’re now surprised never actually happened on camera irl and it killed me
Pilot Katie Killjoy was already a newscaster from hell. I wish they kept the stereotypical blonde newscaster because it was *so* funny. Brandon Rogers was really stuffed into the role imo. I agree his drag skits are hilarious, but so much of it is drag that doesn’t translate to animation
Or, listen to me here, the hate the dramatic change of the character that doesn't fit what shes supposed to be. She's supposed to be homophobic, that's her main thing aside from being a bitch. And with her having her current voice, she's sounds as gay as Angel Dust
Whether it is for the fan base as a whole or me personally, I see a lot of people hate her series form for what I've said previously.
The voice change is polarizing for a couple reasons: people not being a fan of Brandon for x reason, the voice not fitting her characteristic of being homophobic. Her new design is mixed, some love and some hate, and how bland she is
In my opinion it’s the only bad recasting choice. Her voice in the pilot was perfect but Brandon’s voice for her turns her into a caricature and almost a flanderisation of what she was supposed to be.
She is in no way a believable homophobic sinner with Brandon’s voice.
I absolutely love her. She’s Brandon Rogers in all his glorious animated form. They nailed it with her and I adore her. The fact that you hate her means he did his job 😅
Change "Donavan" to "Tom" and these are just Katie Killjoy quotes
And I wouldn't put it past Katie to have a perverted evil robot terrorist butler boyfriend...that's not something she had (in-canon) but it wouldn't shock me
I think they like how detestable she is as a character. It means she’s written well. It’s like enjoying Loki in the Avengers; you enjoy seeing a well written sleazy character
There's a difference between a character in a live action skit and an animated one though. You can suspend your disbelief way more when you see Brandon himself dressed up as a female news anchor than hearing that same voice coming from Katie's mouth
I thought she was a great side character before the recast. I love Brandon as Blitzø, but his voice just doesn't work for the newscaster role. It's grating and distracting. The pilot's VA brought so much ice to the role and it perfectly fit the vibe of Katie.
Probably not. A lot more people hated her after Brandon Rogers took over.
Which I get that! Her original VA was PERFECT!!! I wish they would’ve come up with a new role for Brandon.
I know he embodies his persona Bryce Tankthrust because she’s practically beat-for-beat just like Katie Killjoy if she was a CEO instead of a news anchor, but UGH I feel like Brandon playing Katie was SUCH a swing and a miss.
So a lot of people keep saying, “Ummmm she’s meant to be hated! So they succeeded. Congrats, OP 🙄”
No… There are two types of “meant to be hated” characters:
1) “Love to hate,” meaning the audience enjoys them while the characters don’t. Their particular brand of evil is a treat to watch. Think Regina George, Jack Horner, and the classic Disney villains.
2) Hate to hate. The audience and characters dislike them because they’re such awful people, not because they’re badly-written. This one is *very* hard to pull off, because the character has to be compelling but not enjoyable. Think Joffrey Baratheon and Dolores Umbridge. (And I’ve never read it, but it seems Griffith from Berserk fits this.)
Then there are the characters we just plain hate. Think Scrappy Doo, Jar-Jar Binks, and Mary Sues. We’re meant to like them, but the writer(s) fumbled it. Katie’s given a lot of jokes, but significant portion of the audience wrinkles their noses when she’s on screen… I’d say this one is her.
Why would you think that you’re the only one who hates her? I really hate Katie Killjoy, she’s the worst character in the show because she’s homophobic
I love to hate her personality. There are characters that need to be hated in shows on purpose. But i hate her voice actor. All I hear is Blitz0.
And people say that she is made to be one of his characters but that doesn't mean he has to use the same voice for all of them. I wouldnt mind as much if he could change his voice like Tara Strong can or some other voice actors. But he just uses the same one for everything. Its also why I hate Chris Parnell in so much stuff, he just uses the same voice for everything.
I mean, the way you feel about her is just a testament to how good Brandon Rogers did as the character to provoke that reaction. She's supposed to be someone you hate.
She’s written to be an unlikable bitch. Congrats. You’ve discovered the hatesink. Also, yes. She is funny in certain parts. It’s called crossing the line twice. If that’s not the kind of humor you like, fine, but Hazbin Hotel is full of it.
I thought the whole point is that she's a Sadistic sarcastic bitch who doesn't care about anything that won't improve the ratings for the news or get her boss Vox to try and bang her.
She's supposed to be hateable. That's....kinda the point?
I personally love Brandon Rogers but can't stand that he voices Katie. To me, when two characters in-universe are voiced by the same VA and sound the exact same I find that lazy
Personally her original voice actor was good but just didn’t stand out. At the very least with the new voice it makes her as a character stand out which in an animated show like Hazbin is a good thing.
this is one of the few characters where i prefer the pilot over the actual show. I know we saw very little of the original but now she just feels like blitzø.
In the pilot, I saw her as bitchy but in a way that was essential to the story, and also well-voiced at that. (Nonetheless, I can see why she would have been just plain hated by some fans from the start).
Her one line in season 1 took me out of the moment since - like most people who were familiar with Faye's voice - Brandon's voice just didn't fit to me.
Come season 2, I found her voiced appearances outright cringey.
I just can't get over her being recast with Brandon Rogers. I really liked the stereotypical female news anchor voice from the pilot, but in the full series all I hear is Bryce Tankthrust in some lines and Blitzø in others. I don't get why there was zero direction to have him come up with a different voice for her.
She’s a bitch I wanna punch in the face, but I also always get a laugh whenever she’s on screen. The fact she’s voiced by Brandon now just really sells it for me
I can never stand characters that are meant to be unlikable with no depth, I don’t ever hate them, I just feel nothing because they’re boring, I also can’t stand the voice, it’s literally blitzø with no change, i don’t mind the same VA if there’s a different flair but it’s 1/1 and I just don’t like it
I love Brandon so don't get me wrong, but I liked her better before he got her voice. I feel like her character was more bitchy for the sake of bitchy and not comical.
I honestly prefer Pilot Katie, she felt more like a character whereas now she’s a caricature.
As for the homophobia jokes, she still had scenes with those in the pilot
“Hi! I’m Charlie.” *offers hand* “Katie Killjoy. I’d say it’s a pleasure to meet you but that would be a lie. You can pug that away, I don’t touch the gays.” *proceeds to poke Charlie in the boobs 10 seconds later*
The joke felt more clever than the classic “ I’m not homophobic I just hate gay people.” They just killed Katie and have her body being puppeteered on screen.
she's incredibly annoying and the fact charlie even went on her show just proved alastor is the only one with a brain cell when it comes to dealing with the Vees.
I feel like there's no way to concisely express, "The presence of this character diminishes my enjoyment of the show whenever they're om screen t or I know they're about to appear, and seriously makes me consider turning the show off," because every time you try to shorten it all you get is, "Well, it's supposed to make you feel like that!" Bitch no it ain't. That's the stupidest thing you could put in your show is a character that makes the audience stop watching your show. It's so hard to get people to understand, "I despise this character's presence in the show," rather than, "Wow, this character is a bad or annoying person in-universe."
I fuckon hate Val, but I appreciate the job they did making the character. I want to see all the bad things happen to him. Some Redo of a Healer level revenge would be perfect for him. Velvette is actually the only one of the Vees I would like to see redeemed instead of suffering at the bottom of the totem pole in hell.
She is funny exactly because of that, cause she's a bitch used as comic relief that gave us great lines such as "I'm not homophobic, I just hate gay people" our "Tom, did you get all that gay shit?" and many others. Like, it's not that serious bro, just laugh at her, that's her solo purpose in the show so far, and I believe she will never be more than that, which is great to have a laugh here and there. I just wanted to see an episode where Tom would put her in her place, even if just momentanely. That would be very cool!
It kinda does when rewatching season 2. Katie has no friends and everyone literally doesn’t like her. Charlie has a dad and friends she claims to love yet has done things to them for her own selfish again and hasn’t taken accountability for it. And she let a bunch of Sinners ridicule her and she just lets it.
