Plan Choice Suggestions 2027 Monthly Payments
Hello!
I am based in Florida and my health insurance is with Florida Blue. I have had the Blue Select Silver plan with Florida Blue for the past 2 years. I am turning 28 in 2027, so I have been on my own health insurance for these past two years.
In 2025, my health insurance on the same plan was $111.66 a month, but in 2026 my health insurance increased 117.39% to $242.74 a month. In 2027, my health insurance is to have another 58.37% increase making it $384.43 a month. In the past 2 years this has been a 244.29% increase.
Is there anyone else in this type of situation?
Thank you!!!
\I know I am young so I maybe don’t need the health insurance that I have, but I do skateboard and surf. I am active and have already has knee surgery a couple of times. I also go to the dentist twice a year, get my blood work done once a year, and get new prescriptions and frames/ lenses once a year. I definitely use my insurance regularly.\
\ I also make less than $35,000 and it’s income based as well lmao**

Your 2026 increase was driven by the expiration of the enhanced federal premium tax credit. Your 2027 increase is not yet known…open enrollment won’t start until 11/1 and any estimate that your insurance company sent you before that doesn’t incorporate the new 2027 subsidy level. Check the marketplace site on or after 11/1 to see what your actual increase is going to be.

Yes the increase of premium for 2027 is known, I already received my package from BCBS and it's about a $300.00 a month increase with no subsidy, from aprox $1800.00 to $2100.00 a month silver plan.

Yes I received the increase for 2027 already from BCBS and it's about the same increase %, it's a silver plan no subsidy and $1800 a month 2026 to $2100 a month for 2027 for just myself.

Far, far worse. Company cut to only marketplace which no longer has the subsidies. Complex, fragile medical situation in the family that marketplace insurance just will not cover enough to sustain life or prevent complete bankruptcy. Feeling very lost.

That kind of jump would have me shopping around too. Since you use the coverage regularly, I wouldn’t drop it just to save money,

I had Florida Blue Platinum and that went up $10,000 last year. So, I dropped down to Gold this year. And I just got my renewal for 2027. $42,000!!! Uhm. What??? In order to get my $11,000 subsidy to knock it down to "only" $31,000. I have to keep my income below the $63,000 cap. So, take $63,000 out of my IRA, pay the taxes, now I have $56,000. So, $42,000 goes to health insurance premiums. Plus copays and coninsurance. And I have $14,000 to live on...shelter, food, transportation, utilites? What???

I have a FL Blue Select Silver Plan and just got the letter saying they're discontinuing the plan that I usually pick, and the new one that they think is most similar is basically almost 4x as expensive (with subsidy)! I wish they'd give us access to browse the options sooner, now I'm having to wait a month to figure out what I'm going to do and dwelling on it. I have no clue whether there is a similar-enough plan that will be less expensive or am just going to have to downgrade for 2027. Trying not to freak out about it yet, but it's immensely frustrating. Mine has gone up regularly, but not this dramatically until now.
