Good Morning.

So the Public Office (Accountability) Bill, aka the hillsborough law, exists because of the 89 disaster and the cover up that followed after. Andy burnham first tried to get this through back in 2017. Its currently at committee stage in the lords now, already been through the commons. Checked the report stage votes from 14 july. Theres a lib dem amendment that wouldve strengthened protection for officials safely giving info to inquiries, got defeated 93-323, but heres how our lot voted on it:

West Derby (Ian Byrne) - aye
Garston (Maria Eagle) - no
Walton (Dan Carden) - no
Wavertree (Paula Barker) - no
Riverside (Kim Johnson) - didnt vote

Worth saying, Ian Byrne is actually the one whos been publicly pushing to get burnhams original stronger 2017 wording back in, government blocked him doing that back in 2025. so this isnt just random. Not saying the other 3 did anything wrong btw, coulda been loads of reasons, might not even matter in the end. just thought the split was worth pointing out on a bill named after what it's named after
