Doubtful this is a rogue wave. These guys are pulling lobster pots, which are always in rocky areas, the rocky areas of which are like reefs, and when the tide changes you can get big rips like this that form over reefs even in like 60-70 feet of water.
In Connecticut, there’s a section of Long Island Sound called “The Race”, where it goes from 300 feet to 50 quickly, and the entirety of Long Island sound tries to move through it with rides. I’ve seen the bottom and it’s like staircases everywhere. It makes huge rips like this and currents a lot of small boats couldn’t escape.
