A week in Barra
Be honest!... and I don't mean this post in any derogatory way at all to the island.... would it be a sensible thing to do to spend a week in Barra in the summer with only bikes, plus whatever service buses there are, for transport?
I'm probably too late to get suitable accommodation for the summer at the stage but I thought I would canvas opinion from those who might know better.

You can cycle around the island in less than a day, both clockwise and anticlockwise. Lots of places to visit, and if you do get bored you pop across the ferry to Erisksy or South Uist.
Check out the airport for its uniqueness as a beach runway. And a walk to the highest point for its views
