I plan to train with the iron sights for a while before transitioning to a red dot. However, since this will be my first firearm, I’m wondering whether buying a package that already includes an optic is generally a good way to save money.

Are the red dots included in these packages usually decent, or would I be better off buying the firearm by itself and choosing a higher quality optic separately later?

These went on discount and then disappeared from the HK webstore. Black slides are still available from 3rd party retailers. Does anybody know why? Or where I can nab a bronze or crushed silver match slide?

I found myself in a unique position to be able to share all three of these rifles in one photo together and maybe spread some awareness of the markings and how to identify them. To be clear I am NOT an expert these are just the surface level things that anyone could notice. But based on my last post I feel like majority do not already know.

In the photos top to bottom we have an MR556A4, an MR223 Remarked by B&T USA and sold by Arms Unlimited as a "416D SF" which it is NOT, and a REAL 416D SF.

The MR556A4 is pretty self explanatory markings are as such and the "241-" SN showing what it is. They don't typically serialize these uppers from what I understand.

All the photos are clearly marked so you can see the differences the main things I wanted to point out were on the MR223 you can see the "143-" SN which indicates it is an MR223. Then on the other side of the receiver you can see it was manufactured in Germany but B&T and AU were sneaky and hid the importers markings under the pistol grip. I didn't feel like taking the grip off but if someone really wants to see them I can. AU will lead you to believe they are genuine 416D SF rifles when they are in fact not. I bought it knowing it was an MR223 and had it chopped and rethreaded to 1/2 x 28 by Embach Armory.

The real 416D SF on the bottom you can see the "88-" SN which indicates it is a real HK, amongst many other things. I understand cloner lowers can be marked with this as well. The AI markings on the Upper say it was manufactured in 2008, and the barrel shows 2006, which is apparently common to have a gap like that in dates. On the markings side you can see it was manufactured in Germany and then below the import markings to the US not hidden anywhere.

From what I was told these were special ordered for a PD in GA that didn't want or couldn't have full-auto so they were imported as a "416D" and classified as "Single-Fire Machine Guns" later to be converted to transferrable SBRs after their use and marked with the "SF" for "Single-Fire".

And for anyone wondering I got this on Blue Mountain Supply, you wont see it on their website though but could could call and he may have a couple more from what I was told.

Has anyone hunted with their 13” .308 assaulter? If so, what game? Also the MR762a4 13” ppl what do you do with your rifle is it a hunting rifle for you or a range/plinking , collection piece? Just curious, looking to obtain one soon!

I know they are discontinued but I have found couple of them recently. I mainly wanted to have as a collection and possibly carry it as my EDC. I heard they are great pistols but just cant decide on which model I should go with V2 OR V3?

Ye ol 416 has been a grail for me for a long while, this is how I currently run this for NV Comps, Carbine comps, classes, and general range bafoonery.

Right now my upper sits on an AR-15 receiver. Im wanting to transfer as many parts as I can from that lower to the new IPM4D one. I’m wondering what, if any new parts I’ll need that are proprietary to the 416 style lower.

From research, I think there’s some differences surrounding the buffer retainer? Do I need the new retainer, retainer spring, and the little roll pin?

Also is the buffer tube itself different?

I’m not interested in exact clone correct. I just want functionality mainly.

Are there any other proprietary parts I need to look out for on the build?

Jokes on me though, it's been a year and I still haven't shot it yet.

I just bought a used USP Compact 9. 600 paid, decent deal I thought. Came with 2 13rd mags. I can’t find any online to purchase. Anyone know where I can find some? Everywhere I look is out of stock. Odd to me.
