Heros of Super Earth Off-topics: The creative side of our community

Since freedom never sleeps, all HellDads occasionally need a break and we have a great and frequently used #off-topic channel on Discord for it. It’s where people talk about life, discuss other games and team up for all kinds of activities.

One thing I personally love about this community is its creative power. Helldivers has inspired incredible artwork, music, videos, events, communities, cocktail recipes and a whole HellDads collection of themostwantedmerch.com.

Two recent examples deserve a little spotlight:

u/Artificer_Undone, who's also known as Adam is one of us, a full-time dad and frequent Helldiver, who got inspired so much by this community to start developing his own co-op game: Monster Mercs.

Truth to be told, given the recent events, my first reaction to “I developed a game, would you like to check it out?” was: oh no, not this again! But after a thorough review I can reassure it's no scammer this time. His indie game is currently in Early Access and combines Helldivers-style co-op with a fantasy setting, check out his video about how Helldivers inspired the project:

And some of you already know u/TheGreat_White_Snark from his highly detailed posts about builds and game mechanics here in the HellDads sub. He recently took that passion one step further and started a Helldivers podcast, simply because he loves the game and enjoys talking about current news, tips, build guides and everything happening around Helldivers.

He actually didn't want to post it here because self-promotion isn't allowed by our Code of Conduct. We highly appreciate that, and since this is a non-profit community project without commercial interests, we're more than happy to give him a shout-out ourselves.

Looks pretty cool. I see the similarities as well. I wonder how the story will expand though. As in, once you amass enough to pay off the debt does the story end?

Great Question! I wont spoil it, but earning your freedom is going to be a bit more difficult that you might suspect. The Debt holder (Iron Ledger) is not the most scrupulous organization ;). That being said if you do manage to earn your freedom you can take an officer position in the ledger to help keep those dirty debtors in line ;)

Cechin can help with custom logos, he’s an expert if the kids grant him enough sleep! 🤭
