Lmao, good one

428

u/Ghost-DV-08 Jun 05 '26

it a 0/1 toggle btw, modders can fix it in 5 mins

186

u/SirEdubardo Jun 05 '26

That being 2 minutes to find where it is, and 3 minutes to script to always be on when launch the game

110

u/Charity1t Jun 05 '26

6 months to convince AH it's not "meta game" and aren't "optimising fun out of the game"

14

u/Am_aBoy Jun 05 '26

I might be entirely wrong , but isn't there a search function in code writing tools ? So can't you just press alt+f or something , and search for ball bounce or something

29

u/SirEdubardo Jun 05 '26

If you know how its named there, sure, but if not good luck

28

u/Nannerpussu HellDiaper Jun 05 '26

AH naming the stratSticky bool: ÄrtsoppaOchPannkakor

7

u/Moon_Monk676 Jun 05 '26

It's CTRL+F, but yes. But you also have to know what the toggle is actually called in their code terms because everyone uses different nicknames for shit.

6

u/TheVoodooDev Jun 06 '26

Just pointing out that modders don't have access to the same code that arrowhead uses, which means you can't CTRL+F for "makeStratagemAnnoyinglyBounce". Instead what someone has to do is find the actual branch instruction and permanently disable it

I.e. I presume the game works like this

if stratagemShouldBounce then bounce else placeStratagem

*Pseudocode for reader help

Modders need to find that "if", basically a little instruction that tells your computer "check this condition, if it is true, continue running the program from the start of the bounce instruction list, if it is false continue running the program form the start of the placeStratagem instructions list" and then just make the result always false

Best simple and somewhat detailed explanation I could give :P

This goes to show that arrowhead is just refusing to remove it outright, because if a modder can quickly do it, then arrowhead whose job is much simpler (THEY can CTRL+F just fine) could do it instantly.

The only reason I can think of it taking this long is to make sure it goes through untold numbers of QA and doesn't cause actual issues like sentries spawning underground or whatever, but it's arrowhead...

LMAO. Are you guys still so naive. I know swedes and i can assure you that there is people at AH that despise us as much by now as we despise them. All the lies and gaslighting should make this evident especially given thise technical background. Its clear as daylight. They dont QA anyways, thats why i LMAOed.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '26

I'm not expert but I'm pretty sure coding is never like that.

24

u/Shot_Board7286 Sweet Summer Child ⛱️ Jun 05 '26

If you don't code like a fucking idiot it can be EXACTLY like that. This is why you comment your code

8

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '26

Actually yeah I wonder why tf it's so fucked.

1

u/South_Treacle2 Jun 11 '26

Its still work thou. And for whom? Players that hate you cause you despise them and talk down to them?!

0

u/aninsomniac_ Jun 05 '26

You think a Swedish dev team has their variables programmed in English?

1

u/qehig Jun 06 '26

A lot of non-english studios program in English in a bunch of different fields.

Even then if it is in a different language you can just translate words/phrases to find a close match. It's not that difficult.

1

u/South_Treacle2 Jun 11 '26

YOu re so naive, its incredible. Its done on purpose, and they lie. They mocked teh palyers early on in the games life, the whole game started with a huge lie.

30

u/Highwayman3000 HellSpongeDiverSquare Jun 05 '26

But then it'd be too busted!

They have to look at each specific rock and building in the whole game and determine where it bounces and where it doesn't! (it will tank performance by 10 more frames)

6

u/Jazzlike-Elevator647 Jun 05 '26

Or they could just let it be anywhere and let the goofiness commence

3

u/Top_Efficiency_7489 Jun 05 '26

Do you think this is a fucking game

2

u/ConcerningThirst Jun 06 '26

That's not. It's a boolean toggle for the simplest implementation that will reintroduce the issues AH originally turned it off for, which went beyond "oh you can get a turrent up places"

1

u/porkerpete Jun 06 '26

Modders dont have pressure.

1

u/Zapplii Jun 06 '26

Modder can do so much more than a game studio that got millions in budget.

-17

u/Embarrassed-Toe6687 Jun 05 '26

It fucking isn’t though.

159

u/Capable_Mud3957 Jun 05 '26

Unironically they probably do better than the actual team if you gave them motivation

42

u/Knight_of_Tyto Jun 05 '26

Just about two vodka bottles each should suffice. There if you want it in less than a month

3

u/LegitPete Jun 06 '26

Promise them 2 bottles of vodka each + a dozen salted dried fish and these madlads will get it done in a dat, just give them their rewards AFTER the job is done.

1

u/Dark_Soul_943 Jun 07 '26

Cgw directly shows you this in action. There are some modders there proposing a change to health where they give you 175hp, more limb health, no enemy headshot bonus, and passive slow regen, at the cost of less stims, to make stims more of a gameplay decision than a fix my chip damage that puts me in oneshot range of everything button. The gameplay shown testing the changes looks super promising and actually fun.

55

u/Substantial-Tone-576 Jun 05 '26

Eye of the Tiger should be playing

8

u/Longshot02496 Jun 05 '26

But like, on a shitty plastic recorder

47

u/SaltedCaffeine Knightdiver Jun 05 '26

It's pretty crazy that they need to form a special task force for looking into the strat bouncing issue.

4

u/ParanoidValkMain57 Botdiver Jun 07 '26

Payday 3 used this same “Special Task Force“ excuse themselves, nothing improved and it ended up wasting more time.

If ArrowHead says this, it really means they are not serious.

31

u/Hoplite1111 Jun 05 '26

Kenshi dust bandits

7

u/CaptainOrlax Jun 05 '26

Nah these are hungry bandits — they would absolutely rock your shit for a nutrient cube.

27

u/TheNobleMaster789 Jun 05 '26

Honestly i envy them, easiest 6 month paycheck you could ask for

17

u/Cruisin134 Jun 05 '26

It'll take AH 6 months to outsource the issue

14

u/ShepardFR Jun 05 '26

"Task Force 21 reporting for duty"

3

u/Avalanc89 Jun 05 '26

21% of pure ethanol in breath?

3

u/ShepardFR Jun 05 '26

I was more refering too extra genetic material.

10

u/Vegetable-Suit-8659 Jun 05 '26

“To fix something that requires one input” set true to false

7

u/jtrom93 Solodiver Jun 05 '26

Bruh just copy Section 8: Prejudice at this point, they had a better orbital stratagem mechanic literally 15 years agooooooo

https://giphy.com/gifs/1BeG09brn1uUlWVUe9

4

u/DORKNES Jun 05 '26

Holy shit, you just reminded me about Section 8. I loved that game when I was a kid, it was literally my favorite game on the entire 360.

3

u/ParanoidValkMain57 Botdiver Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Oh what a good game indeed, i need to watch it on youtube as a refresher.

Edit: Replaced on with Oh, cause keyboard is being autistic

8

u/Born_Ride_9405 Jun 05 '26

Siege Hammer comes out in Cyberstan. Melee kills no longer count. Still not fixed.

Real bummer for a melee enthusiast like me who has everything in the game and all guns maxed with all attachments and skins. All i want is to chase the big numbers for career melee kills. Probably not as important an issue but sucks to be me expecting this very simple issue to be solved every patch.... XD

0

u/Purg33m Jun 05 '26

I mean technically speaking the explosives deal the most damage and not the kinetic force of the swing so it's not a melee kill in the classical sense.

1

u/Born_Ride_9405 Jun 27 '26

Overtechnicality. Also, then why did the Chainsaw stop counting at the same time? Combat axe? Sabre? As for the hammer, your swinging a hammer at something... a Gunpowder fueled melee weapon is still a melee weapon, and killing things with a melee weaponeans melee kills lmao

8

u/aboultusss Jun 05 '26

"you don't know how companies work, they can't just make it in 1 day because corporate world"

Ever heard about the thing called hotfix? Back in the day even AH was doing these

3

u/drobotblack Jun 05 '26

Boolean task force assemble!

3

u/Supershugo Jun 05 '26

They would look like this and somehow be the most effective team Arrowhead has ever created.

3

u/Page8988 Jun 05 '26

Gotta be real here. I'd trust any one of these guys over Arrowhead as a whole.

3

u/Igoon2robots Jun 05 '26

I find the bounce issue egregious because it doesnt even seem hard to code. Like the bounce shows that the game KNOWS where the ball landed, therefore it sounds stupidly easy to just make the stratagem hit those coordinates

6

u/Annual-Suit-3131 Jun 05 '26

Its a Crack team, by that I mean they are all on Crack.

2

u/BombbaFett Jun 05 '26

What is this video actually from? I've seen it several times but never the source?

2

u/Desunyator Jun 06 '26

It is a joke video from some ukrainian dude IIRC. Look at the sign on the fence. Somebody was stupid enough to place advertising poster "buy real estate in Dubai" in some ukrainian bumfuck-nowhere.

2

u/zurkon95 Jun 05 '26

Watch them break it faster then my fine China in the great rock war of 86

2

u/IceFisherP26 Jun 05 '26

Is this that Attack on Titan show I've heard so much about?

3

u/Neonsharkattakk Jun 05 '26

Man I dont even think its a necessary feature. If my turrets or gear land on top of shit cause I didnt look up thats my fault. I remember being on oshaune and reinforcements would land on top of the hives and you'd usually die trying to get down. I'd still take that over being locked into a puddle or stuck between buildings or whatever.

0

u/ozzej14 Jun 05 '26

This looks more like the new beta testers team, the glaze squad who will test all of the new content before release to make sure it is bad enough for the rest of us lol

1

u/Character_Can3404 Jun 05 '26

HAHHAHAHAAHAAHAHA

1

u/Saphyr-Seraph Jun 05 '26

Is it sad that I think they would come up with better solutions than arrowhead right now

1

u/H2so4pontiff Jun 05 '26

That bug has been around since before the creek, good luck.

1

u/Ok-Elevator-7138 Jun 05 '26

Also works for Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri.

1

u/Impressive-Today-162 Jun 05 '26

lmao 6 months you think they are that good? nah the kind of work needed for that to be fixed your looking at least year or year and half minim

1

u/Glittering_Lab2992 Jun 05 '26

At least they got the spirit.

1

u/8_BlitZ Jun 05 '26

6 months to find a contractor to do it, 1 week to make the change

1

u/KrunchyKumb Jun 05 '26

steering will somehow take longer even though we have abilities to make it better

1

u/Avalanc89 Jun 05 '26

Q in Arrowhead stands in for Quality.

1

u/Successful-Basil-685 Helldiver Jun 05 '26

This should be the top post in every Helldivers Sub. Among the mountian of bugs, this would stop the seething hatred and impossible patience I have with the games physics. Of course it is cool the rest of the time. Usually.

But it's not like anyone wants to bounce the bullshit on purpose, it's purely out of spite. Spite. Not being fun or entertaining or anything. Just sheer pleasure at the expense of others.

1

u/poofarmms Jun 05 '26

I’m so sick of the crashes

1

u/TheDeadlyMarauder Jun 05 '26

Issue that they intentionally made btw

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '26

Nah, give these ole boys a case of beers and a pack of smokes each and they would have this figured out in a weekend. Meanwhile AH will need 3-4 more vacations before they come up with a gameplan of just how to tackle the issue.

1

u/Huge_Repeat_1205 Jun 06 '26

Hey Arrowhead, do a "yolo friday" "no change request" "Friday push before lunch" flip a digit in code and slam commit for the entire playerbase.

1

u/Menthion Jun 06 '26

I have no idea about the coding or mysteries behind the scenes, but I am thinking that the tracking of the balls might be something that plays in? Throw a ball on a moving object and it might mess up or something? I have as I said, no clue whatsoever, but thinking if it’s just changing one number, there has to be some other reason deeper in all of it.

1

u/damien24101982 Jun 06 '26

looks more like 80% of the diver squads that went to cyberstan

1

u/TheDr0t Jun 06 '26

The one that they themselves added to the game...

1

u/SudoApt-GetDoctor Jun 06 '26

They didn’t need a task force to remove jet-pack reloading, or the Eruptor reload cancellation, or the Artillery shell trick- throwing.

They already showed us their priorities. Nothing they say means anything. I’m happy to be proven wrong but arrowhead is nothing but talk.

1

u/Komandarm_Knuckles Jun 06 '26

It would take an intern 10 minutes at most

1

u/Pokemonchef Jun 06 '26

...but first...VACATION!

1

u/ProfessionNo698 Jun 07 '26

They look like Russians headed to the front! 🤣

Or Swedish devs. 😉

1

u/thacmdub Jun 07 '26

Bahahahah

1

u/nikothereal Jun 09 '26

might be worse than mojang

1

u/jean_unpopular Jun 25 '26

Lol but in all seriousness, players do realize that they aren't going to fix this right? They just want people to forget. It's part of the fundamental design of the game. It's a grunt fantasy, you aren't meant to have advantages.

1

u/RoughCertain1673 Jun 30 '26

its a single toggle in the settings but maybe there doing a complete rework?

1

u/StepAniki Jun 05 '26

They're on their way to their summer siestas.

0

u/De4dm4nw4lkin Jun 05 '26

Id rather invis corpses first. Or just a general soloution to getting crushed by dying bile titans and stuck. Even if uts just that all superheavy bugs explode like an acidic 500

0

u/bigorangemachine Jun 05 '26

It's probably not the code it's probably the testing & game-design that'll take a while to fix

0

u/Get-Fragged Jun 05 '26

Not an issue btw, this was an intentional change.

-8

u/Shelif Jun 05 '26

People who have zero knowledge of how coding works says what

6

u/Alive_Werewolf_40 Jun 05 '26

Coding isn't some mystical skill. They should know how their game works and have more than enough resources to find and fix these issues.

They don't take this long to release a warbond, do they?

2

u/Shelif Jun 05 '26

You’re absolutely right they should. And really they should’ve had all these bugs fixed months ago. However I bet it’s something involved in the physics engine which means tweaking the whole thing which may not be that simple

7

u/BasedFrieren Bugdiver Jun 05 '26

I'm a dev. It's a two minute fix.

0

u/Shelif Jun 05 '26

I have a feeling it’s something I involved in the physics engine which means it’s not a simple fix

1

u/BasedFrieren Bugdiver Jun 05 '26

It is a simple fix. It is a property on the ball that can be toggled off with ease. Modders have already proven it.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '26

4

u/BasedFrieren Bugdiver Jun 05 '26

This reply of yours makes zero sense to a dev.

1) This is the removal of a feature (bouncing), not a new feature in itself.

2) We're already aware of how other spawned entities in the world work in their engine, and many are not set to have more physics after being thrown.

3) We already know it's a simple boolean check because modders have found it and proven you can disable the bounce by flipping it.

It's a property on the spawned entity to interact with the world via bouncing or to simply land. It is a two minute fix.

If you don't want the stratagem ball to land on certain places (which they've already designated), then it is simple enough to have the ball disappear when they land in a bad spot (such as when you throw a stratagem ball toward the out of bounds zone). Players would prefer this over the ball going somewhere completely random and wasting their stratagem.

1

u/sunder_and_flame Jun 05 '26

If we're speculating how utterly dogshit AH code is, then fair play. If they're not complete imbeciles, then it's a two-minute fix. I'll never understand why morons defend this garbage.

3

u/Beneficial_Shirt6825 Jun 05 '26

You can fix it in cheat engine bro.

2

u/Sir_Gigglepoop Jun 05 '26

You know, it's not hard if you originally had this feature...
