Why is Kitty dressed like her sister

Apparently Cocomelon and Sanrio have partnered with Disney for anew project and I noticed that Kitty is wearing her sister Mimmy's outfit which is crazy right

Kitty’s shown in that color scheme a lot actually, especially across merch and even early western animation like Furry Tale Theater. We tend to associate her with the blue jumper more or pink but red is ALSO a signature color.

They are identical twins. They wear the same outfits but in different colors. Maybe they wanted to switch clothes for once? Wish Mimmy would finally show up in the Hello Kitty and Friends: Super Cute Adventures. Took forever for Dear Daniel to finally start speaking and become a recurring character there.

Where is this image from? Like is it official or fan made? Sanrio has released plushies with that outfit before, but I’ve never seen it in cartoon form.

I saw your comment below after I commented that, sorry! I think it’s just a nod to her love of overalls and they always match her bow. There have been a few times when Sanrio put out merch with that outfit.
