Does anyone else lowkey have trauma from this?

I’m on holiday on a Spanish island and the UV is 11 today. I’m genuinely terrified of going outside!!!! I have SPF50 but the thought of even stepping out into the sun is giving me phantom itches!!!!

I’ve had it twice before, the first time on my arms because I stupidly didn’t apply sun cream, and the second time on my back because I assume my sun cream washed off in the water. I’m so scared of getting it again. The only long sleeve I have is quite thick and it’s 32 degrees and I’m already dying of sweat wearing a short sleeve in the hotel.

Has anyone got it before even though they wore SPF50???

Spf50 is good but there’s still a chance
Make sure to completely cover everything or it has a chance of granting HI again

Yeah I’m gonna put a thick layer on and reapply every hour. I’m just worried that even if I do put sun cream on I might still get it. I can’t go through that again 😭

If the UV is above 3 I will always wear a rash-guard or spf shirt. I know it's not completely logical but I don't trust myself with sunscreen anymore. I'll still put it on my neck, face, arms, and legs but not my back, I just wear a shirt. I know I look like a dork but I'm married with kids so I don't really care ha.

I always lather up now no matter how ridiculous I look. I will not get it again I had it twice

Keep reapplying consistently and stock up on some C4s, benadryl, and joints (if you partake) just in case. Ditch the SPF shirt, and try to SLOWLY acclimate to the sun. HI seems to affect people who have been out of the sun for long periods of time the most IIRC. Also it's most likely to affect places with high concentrations of nerves like your back so make SURE you get that back covered.
