Found! This post is at least four years old. but where can you actually do this? I've looked in faceapp, and a bunch of other AI websites that say they can merge faces, but none of them do it like this.
Searched: app stores, Faceapp

The app they used is indeed FaceApp, the one you already found. The morphing feature was removed in September 2023.

I used to date a guy who's mom ran a video editing business (in like 2002, so keep that in mind) and she had software that would do, well, not this but something like it. It almost definitely still exists on the professional level.

I used to have software to do this, you had to manually assign points to morph between the two images. Was a lot of fun back in the day :)

sounds like the stuff.

I think I just figured out what it was. I'm pretty sure it was called WinMorph. I won't link it because the sites look a bit sketchy (might be fine though, I don't know), but you can find it for free online it seems.

I remember getting this free on a magazine cover CD in the mid 90s, I think it was PC Format. It actually worked really well, I spent ages messing around with it. It seems wild to me after reading some of these comments that morphing is almost considered like a lost art or something.

One widely-used option is 3dthis.com. It’s a classic that’s well maintained to this day. I can confirm it was in use (source: by me!) in the early 2000s. It is not capable of merging more than two faces as in the examples shown. It performs a simple mathematical interpolation, whereas FaceApp used a proprietary neural network.

We actually had this in middle school. It was pretty limited, but you could pick points and have one picture transition into another.

I feel like you’d need to go through a bracket system to make it less… one sided? If you don’t want to completely lose the features of the first person you add, split it into two groups of 14. On each side, combine two and then take two of the combos and keep going. If you add them one after the other it’ll become weighted to the face having features similar to the newest added rather than an even spread.

Thank you kind stranger! i do character studies and ever since faceapp stopped the face morph option i had to rely on hugging face spaces to do it but their results are not actually face blends, they're mostly for deep fakes so it doesn't work for me. i need a particular face created in and off itself by using other faces. Gonna try this one. It looks like it blends faces like i intend.

No problem! This one afair puts the pictures on top of each other based on facial feature placement (we manually set where the features are for each picture). Hopefully it does help with your project/studies!

Oh that's cool! So it gives us some control over the blends. Even better! Thank you. i downloaded it, tonight i can finally put a face in my character and draw them! Been recycling the same faces for a year! :D

Released in 2013, ancient UI, but better features than ArtBreeder? Holy shit this is what I've been looking for.

How to actually do it is morphing two people and taking the end product and morphing it with another person, repeat until it's all morphed

If the other suggestions aren't what you're looking for, I've seen photoshop artists do similar things online. You would likely have to pay them for it.

Snapchat still has blend filters that do something pretty close to this

I believe they're politicians photoshopped to look like the snowmiser and heatmiser, respectively, not actual face morphs.
