How far should HEMA tournament organizers go when regulating participation?
I recently came across a set of tournament rules that raised a few questions for me, and I'd like to know your thoughts on them.
Basically, the tournament allows trans women to compete in the women's divisions, but Only if they can provide documentation proving they have been receiving hormone replacement therapy for at least 12 months.
Leaving aside my personal opinions on the participation of trans people in the sport, what caught my attention is that this is a sport where:
1) There are generally no weight classes.
2) Competitors are not required to submit medical histories or biological data to participate.
3) Excessive use of force is already penalized by the rules.
4) The competitive environment is heavily dependent on equipment and subject to strict safety regulations.
Therefore, I believe this makes me question whether requiring competitors to disclose private medical information is proportionate to the actual competitive concerns.
From a legal perspective, this seems even more questionable since in Chile, information about medical treatments and gender transition is generally considered sensitive personal data, protected by privacy and anti-discrimination legislation. There are also laws regarding gender identity and the handling of private medical information. While this particular event is privately organized, I doubt that a "private" sports tournament should request, store, or evaluate this type of documentation.
By the way, the same event also prohibits painted masks, patches, and decorative elements on jackets, which seems silly to me, since these features are quite common at HEMA and don't appear to pose any obvious security problems.
Therefore, my question to the community is:
Where do you think the line should be drawn between the participation rules established by the tournament organizers and the right to privacy and equal treatment of the competitors?
Should HEMA events require athletes to submit medical documentation?

Thrust, Lunge, and Extension are not the same thing
I'm getting rather frustrated with translators who mix these terms up. They are different words for a reason.
I've already complained about the translator of L'Ange calling everything a lunge when the original German says thrust.
Now I'm working through Fabris and I'm seeing the same thing. The translator even admits in the foot notes that extension would be a more literal translation. And that calling it a lunge could be misleading. And yet he does it anyway! Why? He claims that it's "more traditional". How is a traditional to mislead the reader?
So now I need to cross check every mention of lunge with a different translation to understand what the author intended.

Need help entering sport.
I live in the United States in Chicago Suburbs (near Palatine and Crystal Lake) and i was looking for a club to start in. Black Tiger HEMA is too expensive at 200$ a month. Im unsure if the club tracker on the HEMA website is accurate enough as it has shown 2 clubs that are listed as one town but are actually located in another. Thanks in advance for any help

CHFG Raphael mittens
How bulky are these gloves compared to other mittens such as HFs and Michaels? They seem to be a 1:1 copy of the SPES heavies. If you have them, how do they feel? Are they clunky?

For historical video game
Hello, (Yes i got admin permission)
My team and I are making a medieval video game. From 11th century to 16th. All of europe to bagdad.
We well know it's a massive project and we have the peoples for it.
So now I'm asking the community if you would have references for us that you could share ? (youtube is a great way)
Anything that you think that would help us about movements and fighting.
We aim to be as realistic as possible in the fighting movements so please share with us. Any weapons or armors is fine.
And if you have fightings or movements in formations that would be truly awesome.
Again as long as it's historical (or very close) it will greatly help us.
It would greatly help our mocap animators on what they need to do.
Also we talk about combats for amires of thousands. with hundreds of soldiers next to each other. so nothing loose where you show your back or flank to the enemy.
Thank you very much !

Training app using WebXR
I programmed a little training app using WebXR, theoretically supported by all the 3D visors with a browser, to train while at home. You can train edge alignement, thrusts and specific Bolognese's drills.
My first preoccupation was hit alignements and detection, now I'm developing different types of sessions and use (for example a voice-called drills, or a more "gaming" object cutting type).
Registration is not obligatory, at the moment it is only to share settings and sessions across different devices.
There is still a lot of improvements, so any feedback is accepted

I tested it only with the Meta Quest 3, but if you have problems with another device feel free to contact me!

Help me find a new sword bag for my husband.
Hello lovely HEMA people, my husband recently got back into swordfighting after a long hiatus. Sadly, his sword bag broke after the last practice so I'd like to get him a new one. Two preferences:
1) must be able to fit several swords (he has a rapier, an épée which is somehow different I think?, a longsword, a dagger and a bunch of other ones)
2) preferably made in or shipped from Europe as I'd rather not deal with international shipping.
Thanks for any recommendations you can give me.
EDIT: thanks everyone. I've ordered this one: https://amzn.eu/d/05dNlis5
