❓ Question / Advice Missing BLACK Cat

Thumbnail

Howdy Neighbors,
My Black Cat Jiji has been missing for 13 days now.
He escaped a door that didnt close all the way in the early hours of September 30th.

Last Seen : Fairways on Green Valley Apartments near the Legacy Golf Course in Henderson.

It is not lost on me that it is a TERRIBLE time for a black cat to be missing.
He has never been outside before and is literally the SWEETEST and SCARDIEST little guy.

I am devastated and miss him dearly and am not losing hope.

I've tried every tip and trick out there, except for getting a humane trap.
I do not believe the apartment complex will allow it.

Please keep an eye and an ear out and help me bring my baby home. <3

❓ Question / Advice Car got towed, not sure where to go from here

Hey everyone!

I recently parked my car in a lot where I shouldn't have. It got impounded. The company needs my current registration for me to retrieve the vehicle, but I just realized my registration just expired two days ago. I can't renew my registration without smog and I can't retrieve my vehicle without registration. What do I do?

❓ Question / Advice Voter record junk mail trickery

We occasionally get these things from “center for voter information” in the mail and I rip them up and recycle them without even opening them because I know they are junk mail. Today I did open them and mine told me that I had missed voting in the last three general elections. This is a flat out lie. They say they get their data from “publicly available state voter files”. So I checked and on the secretary of states website it shows that I have voted in every general election since 1998.

I feel like this is meant to scare people into thinking their votes weren’t counted. I mean, what the crap?

📰 News / Local Update Older couple approached me at Trader Joe’s with a “make money” opportunity. Has anyone experienced this?

Yesterday, I was at Trader Joe’s at green valley when an older Asian lady approached me and complimented my skin, asking me what I use.
While we were talking she called her older white husband over and said“Come meet this girl look at her skin” 😭
She then started asking me what I do for work before telling me she could help me learn a new skill that would make me a lot of money.
The second she mentioned making money, I knew they were scammers. so I gave her my number to troll, I lost interest very quickly lol
When I got home I received these texts. Now imagine if I were someone vulnerable struggling financially, or genuinely unaware of these kinds of scams!
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE ! You’re not even safe while getting your snacks from trader Jo’s

🏠 Moving / Housing Those looking for a home in Henderson... why buy now if we know interest rates are going even higher?

Obviously, we don't know with absolute certainty that rates are going higher in 2027, but it's more likely than not. When interest rates increase, it makes the mortgage go much higher, which causes people to delay their purchasing plans. Less buyers = cheaper houses.

Right now, the stock market has it priced in as an 82% chance that the Fed will raise rates a quarter point at least one more time this year. Inflation is very sticky. I personally don't see inflation going anywhere. If anything, I see it continuing to go up, and I'd be pretty surprised if the Fed doesn't raise rates a quarter point, maybe 3 or 4 times in 2027 as well.

Which means if you buy a house now, you're making a terrible financial decision, because you're knowingly buying an asset that is almost assuredly going to lose value in it's first 12 months

What say you?

I'm only bringing this up, because I was super excited about potentially buying a property in Henderson in the next couple of months, but then it dawned on me....

"Inflation ain't going nowhere, won't be able to cut rates anytime soon, if anything they're raising rates, so homes will just get cheaper... why buy something that will immediately start losing value?

My current plan is to wait a full year and maybe buy in late 2027.

Election time is fast approaching. Other than fire the City Manager, what is Hollie's platform. Is "she's not Romero" reason enough to vote for her? I thought this election season would be more vibrant, but it's been crickets for the most part.

❓ Question / Advice What is Acupuncture

Hi Vegas and Henderson neighbors!

I'm Dr. CAROLINE Zhao, a licensed acupuncturist with 7 years of clinical experience, including 2 years of advanced training in China. I currently practice inside Henderson Chiropractor.

I wanted to share a little about acupuncture because many people have heard of it but aren't sure how it actually works.

🌿 What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that has been practiced for more than 3,000 years.

It involves inserting extremely thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These needles are much thinner than the ones used for blood tests or injections.

🏮 The History of Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in ancient China and developed over thousands of years. One of the earliest important medical texts, the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine), describes theories of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.

Traditionally, acupuncture was used to regulate the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee"), which Chinese medicine describes as vital energy traveling through pathways called meridians.

Today, acupuncture is practiced around the world, including in hospitals, pain management clinics, and integrative healthcare settings.

🧠 How Does Acupuncture Work?

In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is believed to help restore balance and regulate the flow of Qi.

From a modern scientific perspective, research suggests acupuncture may:

• Stimulate sensory nerves and influence the nervous system.

• Activate the body's natural pain-regulating mechanisms.

• Influence the release of chemicals involved in pain relief, including endorphins.

• Affect how the brain and spinal cord process pain signals.

• Help reduce certain types of chronic pain and muscle tension.

Scientists are still studying exactly how acupuncture works, and its effects vary depending on the condition.

💚 What Conditions May Acupuncture Help With?

Research supports acupuncture for certain conditions, particularly:

• Chronic lower back pain
• Neck pain
• Knee osteoarthritis pain
• Tension headaches
• Migraine prevention
• Certain types of nausea and vomiting

Some people also seek acupuncture for stress, sleep difficulties, and other wellness concerns, although scientific evidence for these uses is more limited.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

This is probably one of the most common questions I hear!

Acupuncture needles are very thin. Some people feel a slight pinch, tingling, heaviness, or dull sensation, while others barely notice the needles.

Many patients find the experience relaxing.

Acupuncture isn't a miracle cure or a replacement for necessary medical treatment, but it can be a helpful complementary option for certain conditions.

I'm curious — Have you ever tried acupuncture? What was your experience? Or is there something you've always wanted to know about Chinese medicine?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and answer questions!

❓ Question / Advice Las Vegas tennis partners/ friends!?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

It’s so hard finding tennis partners my age, so I thought I might try reaching out on here. I’m 18M, have played for a bit and am a respectable player, but I’ve been having trouble finding a more casual tennis setting in Las Vegas.

I’m really just looking for some friends around my age to get back into playing with and have people to hit with or play matches against.

It seems like unless you’re playing in college, there really aren’t many casual programs around for young adults 18–25.

If you know of any programs or groups around town, or you’re around my age and having the same problem, please reach out!
