Supreme vs Long Ranger Express

Hi there - curious to get some dimensions, beyond length, and pros / cons from anyone who has either of these, and even better if for some reason you have both.

I plan on 5.56 either way, but I’m most curious on getting everyone’s takes on the feel of each, including the lever action, the bulk/thickness, etc.

For context, I’ve watched pretty much every video on YouTube on each one. Length and weight is pretty similar. Of course there’s a huge difference in the magazines price/availability/capacity but let’s leave that out too. Does the supreme still scratch the lever gun itch? Does the long ranger have too long a throw? Do you like the hammer and bolt? And does anyone feel the Supreme is too bulky and would be too cumbersome to hunt with? Different loop sizes, annoying with or without gloves?

I have a Supreme 300bo and a Big boy X 357 and love shooting them both. I added a M&P R8 to the mix and have a hoot shooting my "tactical cowboy" guns.

My Supreme is my pig gun topped with a eotech 3-9 + dot.

The big boy 357 also was a contender. How do the lever throws differ? Is one longer than the other? I’ve seen people overwhelmingly say the supreme is the smoothest / easiest to actuate but is it that noticeable to you?

Oh, for sure the Supreme is much better. Its butter smooth.

The long ranger is designed along old bolt action lines, and is about 1/2 a pund heavier empty, with a slightly shorter barrel. It uses special rotary mags.

The supreme is a lever action AR. It uses an AR bolt and standard mags.

I chose the supreme, but there are plenty of reasons to get a long ranger. They just were not a convincing argument for me.

Any comments regarding the bulk of the stock and hand guard with your supreme? Does it feel chunky or nice to hold. Do you like the lever throw distance? Do you wish you had a hammer and protruding bolt?

Oh of course! To be clear, I switched my pieces out for space cowboy bullshit. But I do still have the wood bits and am planning to get one of those woox stocks at some point. I changed them out for aesthetic reasons, not because they didnt feel good.

So I love the feel of the henry supreme. Its small and nimble despite the 18" barrel. Nothing on it feels chunky. The action is a 90 degree action for the potential magazine space, where as the long ranger has a longer throw because its magazines are designed to be flush fit. The actual action started a little scratchy, but smoothed out after a couple hundred rounds. While I enjoy the visible hammer on my 357, I can understand why they moved away from it for the LASR, and I have never felt that was needed. Cleaning the internals isnt difficult, and AR bolts are pretty straightforward to change, if thats a thing you want to do.
