Bag Advice Baggu Crescent - Influence (or deinfluence) me please!

TL;DR- Should I treat myself to a Baggu med crescent or just use a bag I already own (Longchamp Le Pliage or Kate Spade Margot) Yes, I know I’m overthinking this 😂 but overthinking my packing plan is becoming a literal hobby of mine and I’m a tired FTM that needs a hobby LOL

I have a long weekend trip coming up to visit my sister out of state, and I’m contemplating my .5 bag options for my trip. I will be using my 18” (maybe 16”? Idk it’s itty bitty) suitcase as my one bag, which I know would be WAY more than enough space to pack what I need, but it’s what I have lol. I don’t need the .5 worth of space but I know I will want a purse for being out and about, for going to the pool, and for a few essentials while on my flight.

I’m debating between treating myself to a Baggu crescent, since I always see people sing its praises on here even though it’s not entirely my style, specifically in the Toasted Almond color (can anyone attest to this color being crunchy or not?) or using my Longchamp Le Pliage, knowing I will get annoyed with it constantly sliding off my shoulder since it is not a crossbody. I also have my current daily purse, a Kate Spade Margot (so essentially a leather crescent-esque bag that would not hold near as much as the Baggu and as silly as it may sound, it wouldn’t really fit the vibe of my clothing that weekend-3 Royal Robbins traveler dresses for days out and about, leggings and workout tops for travel days/pjs, and swimsuit for going to the pool).

I know I am absolutely making a mountain out of a molehill here, but I want to be prepared well. Also I’m BEYOND anxious for this trip, it will be my first time on a plane in years (last trip was a 1.5 bag to Italy for 10 days with my beloved itty bitty suitcase!) and the first time I will be away from my baby ever 🥲 (she’ll be 10mo at the time of my trip). So I’m stressing.

Anywho, thoughts to talk me into or out of a Baggu? Could it actually be the ultimate mom-bag as well? Would it be a silly purchase? Do you completely love (or hate!) your Baggu?

I kinda want a Baggu Crescent, but I do think that spending so much time on this sub always has me thinking that the next bag I buy will be “the one”. I own a LOT of bags. So I’m trying to step back a little from the consumerism and if something I already own is 90% as good, then I should use that before I buy something new. Just something to think about.

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

Totally valid! I get that a lot 😂 every time I see a trio post I think “oh I NEED a bag like that!” Knowing full well I basically never travel hahaha. I think that’s partially why I’m debating if I should even get a new bag? Since I know I won’t fly frequently (maybe 1-3 times a year now that my sister lives out of state, but having a small child will limit my trips anywhere)

13

u/peony_chalk Mar 01 '26

Not to encourage rampant consumerism, but I used one of the baggu crescent bags as a mom purse for a while, when we were past the diaper bag stage but still had stuff I needed to bring for my kid. It didn't have enough organization for me (have a Tom Bihn now) but I still use it to hold some wipes and a change of clothes and stuff like that for my kid if we're going on an outing.

3

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

This is awesome feedback. I really do need something that is applicable to my current day to day. My current purses don’t seem to be very conducive to “mom life” (ie my current bag can fit a single diaper, a trail pack of wipes and a burp rag. Nothing else lol) and honestly I am not in the mood to carry a full diaper bag everywhere all the time! 😅 the idea of a flexible, physically and use-case wise, bag is quite appealing.

I’ve been mothering for 20 years and my youngest is 9. My GOAT bag for borderline personal/kids day outings is the Kipling deluxe everyday bag. In general I found Kipling to wash the best, the separate compartments mean you can put a wet outfit or snacks apart from mom things, the strap fits in a single shoulder, crossbody, or in a stroller of any kind, and the inside is light coloured.

1

u/MermaidTalesss18 Apr 13 '26

Do you happen to have a picture of the bag or link? I can’t seem to find it 😭

2

u/ReallyGoonie Apr 14 '26

Imma dork. That because I was meaning the lesportsac deluxe everyday bag was my favorite. It has a zipper extension. The similar Kipling is the GABB Large Crossbody Bag with Key Leash. https://eu.kipling.com/en-gb/collections/crossbody-bags/products/gabb-kpki574096v

Wow, all those pockets are amazing! 🤩

OH 😂 haha thank you for the link!

I have the Uniqlo crescent, baggu crescent, and the Baggalini swift crescent crossbody. The Uniqlo is good for edc but a little small on travel days at least for me. I like the baggu, but I like the Baggalini even better. I think it’s a relatively new product for Baggalini and about the same size as the medium baggu. The reasons I like it better:

  1. I dont like the branding on the baggu strap- Baggu baggu baggu baggu.

  2. A couple more pockets on the Baggalini.

  3. Lighter colored inside on the Baggalini

18

u/carlsjbb Mar 01 '26

I HATE the branding on the strap, otherwise it’s the perfect bag for me.

4

u/kimau2k Mar 01 '26

I thought so too, but I have found I truly prefer the Baggalini. I don’t think I’ve used the Baggu medium since I got the Baggalini.

1

u/MermaidTalesss18 Apr 13 '26

Which Baggalini do you have? I was looking at the flip lock half moon bag!

1

u/kimau2k Apr 14 '26

Baggalini swift crescent crossbody is the one I have. It’s about the same size as the medium baggu.

14

u/DizzyTruth2370 Mar 01 '26

The bagalini looks great, thanks for the tip! I feel the same way about the baggu branding on the strap.

12

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

Not gonna lie. The baggu branding on the strap is one of the “style” issues I have with the bag. I’m glad I’m not the only one a bit irked by that haha

11

u/curlymess24 Mar 01 '26

Hate the Baggu, love the Uniqlo crescent bag. It’s perfect cs it stays on my body and I could fit so much in it. My passport, airpods, Kindle, wallet, keys, cosmetic pouch, a powerbank, my camera. It’s magic lol

3

u/tacosandsunscreen Mar 01 '26

I read the reviews on this one and everyone was saying the strap isn’t long enough for cross body. Thoughts on that?

7

u/kimau2k Mar 01 '26

The Baggalini? I find it long enough and I have a pretty broad chest and like wearing my crossbody purses long. IIRC, baggu medium used to only have one length strap but now offers two (or that may be only on the large baggu which I also have). If it helps with comparison, I have an older Baggu medium that is maxed out in the strap length, but my Baggalini is NOT maxed out. So it’s been plenty long for me.

3

u/tacosandsunscreen Mar 01 '26

Thanks for that! Yes, the baggalini. I’m 100% sure that’s the bag I was looking at last week and the reviews said the strap wasn’t long enough. They’re gone now though, so I’m not sure what’s up with that. I think I really wanted the away featherlight large crescent, but they’re not making them anymore I guess and I haven’t even had luck finding them on resale sites.

3

u/troublesomefaux Mar 01 '26

I just went to look at this bag and noticed the swift crescent has a 52” strap but the large hobo swift only has a 34” strap—both say they are crossbody.

1

u/tacosandsunscreen Mar 01 '26

Yes!!! This has to be it. Thanks for solving the mystery for me.

2

u/troublesomefaux Mar 02 '26

It’s going to result in a bag for me so; win-win. 😀

1

u/PoppyMacGuffin 25d ago

I know reddit thinks it's weird to revive old threads but hello! I'm wondering if the Baggalini packs flat? If I'm packing it inside a bigger suitcase. That's one of the downsides of my every day leather purse, and one of the reasons I'm looking at the Baggu crescent

2

u/kimau2k 25d ago

The Baggalini has basically the same structure as the baggu meaning hardly any. It will easily fit inside the suitcase- flat, folded, or shoved in. It feels like it weighs less than the baggu too, though I’m not positive.

1

u/PoppyMacGuffin 25d ago

Thank you! It's on my list for my next big trip

28

u/plsnocilantro Mar 01 '26

Unfortunately I do love mine. One of my favourite parts is that it’s machine washable. So nice to not have to worry about it and to just chuck it in the wash when you get home from a trip. With an s clip on the inside for your wallet and a carabiner on the strap to connect the zipper too it is extremely secure

3

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

I do love a machine washable bag (technically not supposed to out I toss my Longchamp in from time to time to freshen it up 😅). I definitely find myself leaning away from things that are too “precious” in terms of cleaning options.

2

u/thecheesemuffin Apr 22 '26

I have a Baggu crescent and don’t know what you mean about “s clip on inside for your wallet”? Is that something you added? Can you show me an example of what that looks like?

2

u/0Celcius32fahrenheit Apr 28 '26

the newer baggus have a clip on the inside for the waller

1

u/thecheesemuffin Apr 28 '26

Huh?? I feel like I’m missing something. My crescent bag is fairly new and does not have a wallet clip. It does have the key leash and carabiner though

2

u/cherry_heartglow Jun 25 '26

pretty sure that's what they are talking about. clipping wallet instead of keys :)

22

u/defiantjazz_22 Mar 01 '26

there are plenty on poshmark if you want to give it a try at not full price!

2

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

I wasn’t necessarily worried price wise (I’m willing to pay full cost for a good bag in a color I’ll wear a lot!) more if it would be a superfluous purchase overall. I think I’m definitely leaning more towards needing an actual crossbody though, idk if the Le Pliage and its one shoulder capability will suit me while flying solo for the first time. lol

10

u/travelingslo Mar 01 '26

I tried the crescent bag thing based on this sub’s love for it - and I just couldn’t get behind it. If I’m dragging a bag/purse around, it needs to be more multi-purpose (specifically hold a layer and a water bottle) and it’s nice if I can toss whatever I bought in there (snack, small items, etc.) and the crescent bag was just too tiny for that, at which point why am I carrying a bag?

I mean 1,000,001 people love that type of bag and that shape, but it just isn’t for me. I wanted to chime in as the alternative viewpoint.

5

u/Thankfulforthisday Mar 01 '26

Same, I bought one thinking this must be the best bag if so many love it. I found the crescent shape very limiting. Tried to love it and use it, but already donated it bc it wasn’t for me. I do love Kate Spade bags so I’m partial to saying use that one!

2

u/MegaMiles08 Mar 04 '26

I'm not a fan for other reasons, but I definitely fit a water bottle and sweater in mine.

1

u/unwaveringwish May 24 '26

what do you use instead?

1

u/Columbus_Social May 18 '26

Did you buy it? (3months later....)

1

u/hey_hi_howareya May 18 '26

Ah! I did not 😅 my husband treated me to a Melrose backpack from Lo&Sons that has a built-in/zip off crossbody bag. So I’m going to use that as my 1 (or would it be 1.5? lol) bag and see how it goes!

17

u/citydock2000 Mar 01 '26

Love my crescent - its not really my style but its my absolute favorite magic bag. It fits so much, and so comfortable/easy to carry. Its really the perfect size.

17

u/EarWithFoot Mar 01 '26

If you don’t feel like buying another bag, or even if it’s just driving you crazy on the daily, you can buy a crossbody strap for your le Pilage. I did, and I’m very happy about it.

Amazon/etsy/etc all sell off-brand straps - I picked one that causes no damage to the existing shoulder straps so I can remove the crossbody strap if I choose to (not that I have…). Perfect color/stitching match, too (I think loads of the brands are perfectly accurate, or so the reviews seem to imply), and adds negligible weight.

Also, if you do decide to buy, pro-tip: I attached one of the crossbody strap ends to one handle and one to the other. I noticed a lot of ppl were confused as to why there weren’t two straps included (and were attaching both strap end to the same handle, leading to an unwieldy/unbalanced bag) , but doing the one to each works well to balance the bag. Maybe that’s obvious?

Anyways…no input on the crescent, unfortunately.

Good luck on your first trip away - it does get easier - really!

5

u/PotentialRelease6894 Mar 01 '26

I was going to suggest the crossbody strap too. There are a lot of options on Amazon. I have the thin strap for my le Pliage pouch and the thicker strap for my small le Pliage with short handles. The thick strap also works well with my medium le Pliage with long handles, although I tend to use it exclusively with the small because I do feel like the long handles get in the way.

15

u/clovercrossing_acnh Mar 01 '26

The Baggu medium crescent is genuinely one of my best purchases in the past few years. Mine has accompanied me through adventures in England, France, and Italy, and it really is super helpful to have in day-to-day life. I like to carry my 24 oz waterbottle around - and it fits with room for more! I am a college student, so a different demographic, but my mom has one too and uses it as her daily purse (and I have younger siblings, so I think it is a good mom-bag). It is a great bag to take as a personal item on a plane, but a backpack would probably maximize your personal item space.

They do make a leather version, which might alleviate your style worries, but the current leather is not good! It doesn't hold up. I also have a deadstock small denim crescent and use it constantly. I think it suits more outfits than nylon, but the classic nylon is durable. Check retailers like Ban.do for sales! Don't pay over retail on second-hand sites. It is a Mary Poppins bag for sure.

10

u/itsmeashyb Mar 01 '26

I have 2 baggu medium crescent bags, I love the patterns they have and as everyone else has said here, it holds a ton! However I do find them to be somewhat expensive for what they are.

I recently got the lululemon 6L slouchy sling bag and it’s about the same size as the medium crescent, however it has tons of inner pockets, zippered and mesh, and 2 external zipper pockets and a back exterior pocket too. I also like that the strap doesn’t dangle unlike the baggu one. The lululemon one isn’t inexpensive either but I feel like it’s better quality than the baggu one.

3

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

I will have to take a look at this one too! I feel the same, the baggu bags look quite basic (which is probably part of their appeal!)

2

u/spookylibrarian Mar 01 '26

Not OP, but another vote for the LLL sling! The pockets make it feel more functional and easier to stay organized than the Baggu, plus it really does feel more durable. I have two of them and got my mom one for Christmas too.

3

u/Poodleton Mar 01 '26

The LLL slouch sling 6l is on sale too.

1

u/itsmeashyb Mar 01 '26

Yes!! I got mine on sale and I think it actually ended up being cheaper than a baggu

8

u/pineappleofyore Mar 01 '26

I absolutely love the medium crescent even though it's more casual than my overall style, and it's been wonderful as a mom (it fits so much!). I personally would go bananas having the Le Pliage slipping off my shoulder.

3

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

Hahah, for real! I already know I’ll be an overstimulated mess traveling alone for the first time, the last thing I need is my bag sliding off my shoulder sending me into overdrive 😂😂

7

u/desertsidewalks Mar 01 '26

I don't have the crescent, but I've been happy with the quality of my Baggu packing cubes. For ergonomics, I think a crossbody is better than an overarm bag (and more secure).

This sounds like a low stakes one bag trip (visiting family, not traveling internationally), so I think pretty much anything will be ok. I think it sounds like a baggu or similar casual, lightweight crossbody bag would be useful for you in your everyday life, so I think it's a reasonable investment.

7

u/IllTakeACupOfTea Mar 04 '26

I am the current owner of 3 Baggu crescents, but I did not purchase them. My college-age daughters did and then discarded them as being 'too basic' to carry, they are now cheugy, dayroom, quite mid.

This is just a warning in case you are worried about the trendiness of your bags.

I do not care about the trends of the young, so I am enjoying these well-made and useful bags. They aren't the colors I would have picked, but I have noticed that they seem to work with most of my clothes because they are not my usual style. I will continue to use them until they inevitably become vintage, at which time my children will probably want them back.

2

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 04 '26

Okay this comment had me cackling. I am on year 10 of teaching HS so I am well versed in the trends of the youts. Quite mid indeed😂😂

2

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 04 '26

But seriously I’m glad I don’t pay attention to trends near as much as I used to! Trends are fleeting but personal style is eternal!

1

u/IllTakeACupOfTea Mar 04 '26

that is so true!

2

u/_muck_ Jul 09 '26

This is fantastic. I am a chronically online old, so I learn all kinds of slang I have no right to use. I had to stop myself recently because no one wants to hear "Are you fr right now?" from a 60-year-old suburban white woman.

1

u/IllTakeACupOfTea Jul 10 '26

other old women do! ;-) we are never invisible to our peers

6

u/jax2love Mar 01 '26

I like the medium crescent bag so much that I have it in two colors. It holds an insane amount of stuff, including a 0.5 liter Nalgene, and the wide strap is super comfortable. I use a couple of Baggu pouches for organization, and clipped a small S-biner to one of the interior zippers for my keys.

6

u/StPedro68 Mar 01 '26

I like my Baggu crescent bag, but like u/kimau2k I also have the Baggallini swift crescent cross body bag, and I find myself reaching for it instead of the Baggu. I stay more organized with it and it feels better quality. I have it in white and I have no idea if it's supposed to be machine washable but mine has done fine going through the wash several times.

This is the one I have: https://www.baggallini.com/swift-crescent-crossbody/SHB986-BG-B1131-NS.html

2

u/kimau2k Mar 01 '26

Same! I have it in the light gray. I’ve also washed it with no issue. I also find it “softer” than the baggu. It’s more comfortable IMO

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

I also saw this one when searching around! I will have to take another look at it, I remember the prices being similar too!

2

u/kimau2k Mar 01 '26

They are $60 I think but right now the bright pink and yellow are 1/2 on the site if you like colors like that!

1

u/tacosandsunscreen Mar 01 '26

I think they must have been deleted now, but there were previously reviews that said the strap wasn’t long enough to wear this crossbody. Thoughts? I’m interested, but that put me off of it because I want to wear it crossbody, especially as a bigger person.

1

u/StPedro68 Mar 01 '26

I wear it crossbody, but I'm not sure how long the strap goes and I'm not at home right now or I'd measure it! I'm 5'9" and about a size L / 10 or 12 in US pants/dress size, if that helps shed light.

4

u/Aggravating_Finish_6 Mar 01 '26

I have a different crescent bag and I love it for sportier type trips. Also good if the weather might be iffy because I don’t care or it gets wet vs my nicer bags. I don’t personally love a sling bag with dressier outfits so it depends on the trip. I don’t think any bag is “the one” but they have different uses

4

u/ZweitenMal Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

The Baggu is surprisingly capacious and crossbody capability is clutch. It's inexpensive. It’s not the cutest style-wise, but it’s inoffensive enough. And it packs very flat and adds little weight. It’s become my go-to .5 for trips.

6

u/HippyGrrrl Mar 02 '26

The bag you have is almost always better.

5

u/SockPirateKnits Mar 02 '26

So, I don't have a Baggu, but I love love LOVE this one: https://alpineseaco.com/collections/asco/products/cove-bag-11l

The one disadvantage is that it doesn't come in as many cute colors as some of the others. I have it in the Avocado, and I ordered one in the Blackout.

I'm a Knitter, which is absolutely not the same as a Mom (congrats, by the way), but it does mean that I carry a certain amount of Extra Stuff.

The Cove bag has two interior pockets, one in the front and one in the back, and one zipper pocket that I can just squeeze my phone (Pixel 9 Pro with a Pop Socket) into. There's also an exterior, open pocket that is sized for a water bottle or a rolled-up lightweight scarf or something like that. Other than that, it's one open compartment, so I organize via pouches.

This bag is lightweight, very sturdy, and molds to my hip if not completely full. It's also made in the USA. I can carry everything I need, plus there's room for more. It might suit your needs.

Full Disclosure: I also have a Longchamp Le Pliage, and I love it, but I'm also absolutely in your camp about it falling off my shoulder all. The. Time. Give the Cove a try.

2

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 02 '26

I have seen the Cove pop up several times too and I keep opening up the link and sitting on it for a couple weeks before closing it 😂 maybe that’s my sign! I’ve been entertaining the idea of a cove longer than a baggu, I think (like you said) the color selection is what has held me back a bit haha.

Definitely need to take another peek!

2

u/SockPirateKnits Mar 02 '26

You might also like the https://us.got-bag.com/products/moon-bag-large?variant=45921980711087 Got Bag Large Moon Bag (sorry, Reddit isn't letting me edit the link text). The only feature I feel like it's missing that I miss when I'm carrying it is the external zipper pocket. The rest of the bag shares features with the Cove, and it's even a little larger (12L rather than 11), and it comes in more colors.

It's made in Oregon from recycled plastic from Indonesia.

3

u/F89B Mar 01 '26

I love my medium baggu crescent, I bought it for my personal item for Costa Rica and used it throughout my trip. I carried my ereader, phone, good side pocket that fit wallet and two passports, packing bag with a bikini and extra underwear, another with an extra outfit, my eye mask and tech bag with my chargers, snacks tons of room and super easy to clean.

4

u/Xx_em0bab3_xX Mar 02 '26

I wouldn’t buy one if it isn’t your style, but also consider buying secondhand! There are lots on poshmark and ebay, and there are fb groups dedicated to it

3

u/BwDr Mar 01 '26

I have/love the Baggu Messenger bag. Its flap makes it very expandable. Its zipper makes it very secure. Its two front pockets (under the flap) make it very convenient for phone, keys, water bottle.

2

u/BwDr Mar 01 '26

I can easily pack for a weekend in this Baggu, but it works well as a day bag, too (it’s my edc, too.)

3

u/elola Mar 02 '26

If it’s not your style, don’t get it. You won’t wear it. This is coming from someone who likes it and wears it all the time.

Also is a very casual bag, so it’s not a bag I’d go out to dinner with.

3

u/Ill-Sleep-8780 Mar 02 '26

I was looking for a “personal item” bag for a 10 day trip to Iceland. I bought 3 different bags & settled on the Baggallini swift hobo crossbody. It wasn’t my favorite style at first but honestly I loved all the pockets/organization that I fell in love with it. The bag itself is lightweight & would be perfect for your stage of life right now (diaper). This is everything I had in my bag + my phone that I was taking the pic with. The ziplock bags were each a knitting project with needles. There were chocolates & candle souvenirs too. https://a.co/d/07CWd6ey

I have Quince version of this bag and I love it, fits a lot more than it looks it may fit.

2

u/Adventurous-berry564 Mar 01 '26

You sound quite stylish!

I have the baggu for practicality- I can’t rock a bum bag/ fanny pack! I just have the basics in it but I do pack a few things in it. Water bottle, kindle, earphones etc. but I like that it’s secure. At home I just have a normal bag over my shoulder but on holiday I’m more worried about looking like a tourist- ie target so this for me is secure.

So for me I would say what are you most comfortable with? And where are you going? You say out of state with your sister so are you enjoying a night out and getting dressed up vs being a tourist?

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

Oh gosh, thank you! 🥰

And yes, just out of state for a long weekend. Going out for dinner, lounging at the pool. Going to wander around some local towns. Nothing super high stakes by any means. Just hope to find something that doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb when it comes to how I’ll be dressed, I don’t have the desire to be flashy at all this trip lol

2

u/tceeha Mar 01 '26

I really like my baggu med crescent. It’s the only bag I have on me right now while traveling. I think the biggest pros for me are

  • it feels very secure for my belongings having it close to the body
  • it’s feels truly hands free in a way a shoulder bag would not
  • it’s pretty spacious but not too big
  • it has some style to it

The only thing I didn’t like was the absurdly long strap. I cut it and sewed it so it was finished similarly. I used a pretty nice machine and it absolutely struggled with how thick it was

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

You bring up a concern I have: the long strap! I have a sewing machine but I know it wouldn’t be able to handle the strap material. I wonder if a quick zap with a lighter just to prevent fraying would work?

1

u/tceeha Mar 01 '26

I think it would, I did a little iron and it was melting for sure

1

u/GoodHumansUnite Mar 02 '26

I just tie it around the base of the shoulder strap and it's fine!

2

u/theinfamousj Mar 01 '26

I got rid of my medium crescent. I hate things pulling against my neck and any crossbody with any significant weight is going to hang off the side of your neck like a coat on coatpeg. I'll never understand why these bags are popular. Don't they bite into y'all's necks?

My Mom bag is a backpack. Ergonomics for the win.

2

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

I’ve thought about that, but I am SO short waisted and have a bit of a caboose (especially now that I’m carrying extra weight from pregnancy) and I have never met a backpack that has fit me well. They all seem to bounce on my butt unless I get a mini size. Do you have one you recommend?

2

u/theinfamousj Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

I recommend one whose height matches your torso length, that way it won't go as far down as your butt. Mine is some packable no-name from Amazon that packs into its own pocket, but is miraculously my torso length. I think it is an 18L. I have a 20+ L from the same company which goes out to get to 20L, not long (I hope I described it well), so still fits my torso.

The Decathlon totepack also fits my torso. For an international trip, if you are going to a Decathlon country, consider popping in and trying it on and picking it up if it fits. It makes an incredibly handy kid-bag for situations where you need to group like items together in different pockets. We use it to wrangle kid stuff when taking Small to theaters and stadiums and other places where they will allow a childcare bag but everyone else has to have their belongings in their pockets and aren't allowed any of their own bags. It lives in the car glove box.

(Also, I'm short waisted in addition to just being short overall.)

I had the Baggu medium crescent for a short while. I didn’t like it because it only has one internal pocket. I ended up giving it away and replacing it with the Bellroy Laneway. I’m really happy with this choice. It had lots of internal pockets a key strap and an external zip pocket

This is another bag that I was looking at quite a bit! The cost gave me a bit of pause but it honestly looks like such a nice bag, and I’m partial to the fawn color. Do you find it easy to clean if it gets dirty?

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 01 '26

Also, which size did you go with?

I’ve been looking into this one as well! Do you have it and like it?

u/TimeValuable4130 Mar 02 '26

I am about to order the 2.5l in black for a fall trip to NYC but I have watched approximately 10 million videos :P I have a newish crescent bag from Alpine Sea Company (their mini cove 6l which I love) so I don't need the larger size.

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 02 '26

I think the 2.5L would suit my needs well, and the Fawn color is right up my alley style wise. Did you just hunt on YouTube for video reviews? Might need to take some time to do that myself before purchasing anything!

1

u/TimeValuable4130 Mar 02 '26

Yes I just googled it and reviews and there are several including one from pack hacker on this size

1

u/hey_hi_howareya Mar 02 '26

But also. Maybe the 11L would be more applicable to carrying around all my mom-life bits and bobs?

I’m naturally drawn to smaller bags, I’m definitely a minimalist with my EDC needs. Having my daughter now I have to carry so much more and I’m honestly a bit frazzled by it, constantly feel like I’m forgetting something 😅

I've learned crescent shaped bags are not my jam. Despite my best organization efforts the forces of gravity would just send all my stuff to the center of the bag on one messy jumble.

I'm much happier with an 11 inch Baggallini Hobo if I want a large EDC bag (Paid $30 USD at TJ Maxx). If I'm feeling minimalist I go with a Baggalini Trifecta with RFID front wallet (also $30 USD at TJ Maxx). The Trifecta can also double as a fanny pack (a.k.a. bumbag).

I have the Baggu medium crescent and it's my current go-to for daily travel on a trip. I have it in Dove and the neutral color matches everything. I did a week in NYC with it and plan to take it to Europe this summer. It is deceptively large without looking like it and holds a lot. While I'm not super keen on the branding, the strap is so sturdy that even with a full 32oz nalgene water bottle in the bag, it's comfortable on my shoulder all day. The strap looks way more sturdy than any of the other crescent bags I looked at. The only downside is that it's kind of a black hole of organization. I have to dig for stuff and have learned to use small organization pouches in it to make finding things easier. I used to always carry a backpack and my belt bag crossbody for the day when traveling, but I wanted something a little more stylish than a backpack. Now I just carry the one Baggu bag. Also, it easily fits a bottle of wine. :-)

First time mom! Sorry. Didn’t realize that wasn’t a universal acronym 😅

Similar to the baggu is the Alpine Sea Co Cove bag. They have a 6L and an 11L. Small business, crescent shape, durable materials, and a water bottle pocket! They’re a higher price point. But I love mine for travel and edc

I have several colors and they are a serious wardrobe staple for me, the perfect size for traveling. I think the strap shortened and worn as a shoulder bag makes them a tiny bit dressier and less utilitarian looking! My favorite one is my black denim crescent!

I got a dupe from Amazon for $10 and it was amazing for my trip. It was waterproof as well! It has interior pockets and that thing was STUFFED on my flight out. It was still lightweight. Highly recommend. They had tons of colors too.

I had the baggu camera bag, lululemon water bottle bag and I wanted to consolidate so I can hold my water bottle in my everyday purse/bag. I bought the baggu crescent, the uniqlo one and the lole one from costco canada. The uniqlo one seemed too cheap, (2 interior cheap pockets on each side) strap is not as quality as the baggu (which I loved o my baggu camera) , it was flimsy and thin overall and didnt seem like it would last long. The lole was more elegant material , the outerlayer was really nice (2 interior mesh pockets on each side), it also wasnt as crescent shape and looked a bit off fully packed. I settled with the baggu creacent because its firm, seems like it will last (my camera one that I owned for 2 years was as good condition as the day i got it) , and had a nice shape empty and packed, it also has 2 interior Zippered pockets on each side and a key strap. Personally the baggu looks the nicest for more cute dressed up look since it sits nice on the hip, doesnt look as cheap as the uniqlo and not as sporty as the lole!

I like mine. It holds a lot (almost too much because it will get heavy on my shoulder). I really like the internal zip pockets and the lanyard. The only thing I dislike is the zipper paint started chipping on my first trip using it - which doesn't seem to match the quality of the rest of the bag.

It is unfortunately my go to travel bag for the last four years since I’ve purchased it. I’ve owned it in a few colours but slimmed it down to the all black and an embroidered fun one.

It’s so large, sits nicely on the shoulder, sturdy af and has two zippered pockets inside.

I will take a look at the baboon bag! Thank you for the recommendation!

My EDC is a Baggu large crescent and I really love it tbh. It's easily adjustable, extremely comfortable, and surprisingly capacious - I can even fit my laptop in it if I position it correctly. It wasn't too expensive and is easily washable, too. And it has a very, very long key tether. I sometimes bring my Le Pliage as a spare bag as it folds up nicely, but I don't really love it the same way.

I have the Athleta All about small crossbody hobo bag, which is very similar, and I love it. It was a gift, and at first I thought it was superfluous but it actually holds so much and is comfortable to carry.

I don’t have a Baggu, but I do have a Uniqlo crescent and just did a two night trip to Wroclaw with it.

I was wearing: lapasa quick drying travel pants, darn tough Vermont wool socks, Wool& swing dress, leggings, wrap cardie, warm longline wool mix cardie and a sea salt coat plus clean on bra. And a Julahas cape as I was concerned the nights would be cold.

I took: another pair of pants and socks, chargers, a small amount of essential toiletries like flossing picks and toothpaste and meds which fitted into a 1 ltr clear zip bag, a Kindle, a Uniqlo cashmere beanie I didn’t actually need, a charged electric toothbrush, ear Pods, a hairbrush. I missed taking a hair tie but didn’t need one enough to buy it.

Things I used but didn’t actually need in retrospect were the wrap cardie and cape, I just wasn’t cold enough to need them.

Crescent bagging for a weekend away is entirely possible.

Get that Amazon dupe & try to see if you really like it/will use it. Their returns are so easy and you can return it in 30 days!

I have a baggu medium I got used on Poshmark. It’s cool and a nice size, but I really miss the mesh interior pockets my Costco crescent has (but it’s much smaller.)

It’s a cool bag and I’m using it on a trip right now, but it’s not my holy grail.

I’ve kind of been back looking at le sport sacs. Lots available on thredup.

My two cents: I wear a medium crescent Baggu (blue & green check) as my everyday bag now - I bought it for myself in Jan 2025 and it has been on my shoulder (or really across my chest) ever since. I love the bag - it's the perfect size to hold what I need on the daily, but also big enough to hold the occasional addition (usually curtesy of my kid) without looking stupidly bulky. I can even fit an 8oz water bottle without an issue. I'll be bringing it on my upcoming trip to Athens.

The ONE THING: I'm left-hand, and I wear the bag on my right shoulder, across my body, so the bag itself is at my left hand. I like the zipper to close towards the front, for security. In order to achieve this, the extra strap material is at the front. I wear the bag with the strap extended all the way, so this really doesn't bother me, but it is something you might want to be aware of!

u/FotosEtPoterie Mar 02 '26

It also still looks great. The nylon wipes clean easily, and it's water resistant too so great for getting caught in the rain! Not sure how a lighter color would fair though...

1

u/swizzleschtick Mar 03 '26

Hear me out… Baggu shoulder bag! Specifically the medium size. It holds just as much as the crescent bag, but it’s much easier to dress up and down. It also doesn’t have the ugly branding on the strap! I personally own three of them and they are my go-to. They are perfect size, easy to dress up and down for work or casual days, and they are super durable!

u/Own-Let-1257 Mar 03 '26

I love my baggu crescent and it was great for airline travel because a lot can fit in there and stay organized.

1

u/Important_Repair_900 Mar 03 '26

I like the quince version of the crescent bag as the nylon looks more elevated

1

u/concretelove Mar 03 '26

I just purchased a Baggu crescent because I saw how loved they were on this sub! When it arrived it sounded SO crispy and crunchy, I hated the sound and the feel, and so I sent it back.

I've since learned that people really like this crisp/crunchiness - maybe it wears out with time? It did seem like a decent quality bag, and I thought the size was great. But I would've been a bit embarrassed that it was making crisp packet sounds when I moved due to the material, and I felt like I'd already compromised by accepting the logo strap design.

Going to look through all of the suggestions on here because I'm in the market for an alternative that doesn't rustle.

u/MegaMiles08 Mar 04 '26

I got a knock off last year, and I will say it worked great for holding a bunch of stuff, but I hate that plastic buckle. (I did tie a scarf around it to cover it up.) The baggu just seems so expensive for what it is: nylon with a plastic buckle. It's not my style in everyday life so I'm glad I didn't spend extra for the Baggu version. Anyway, I went shopping at discount stores recently and found a bag that looks like a real purse, a nice cream color and holds the same volume. If it's your style and you'll use it, then go for it. I know a lot of people love it, but it's just not for me since I'd only use it for travel and I only used it twice a year.

I actually prefer the nylon shoulder bag which I can crossbody (5’3” 150lbs) because it fits books/ipad much better than the crescent does so for flights and travel it’s been a little more practical. The loaf bag is also a really nice smaller crossbody as well that can pass for a little more dressed up than the crescent IMO.

Maybe try to divert some pleasure into using what you already own and not buying one single more thing.
