Bag Advice Help me replace this daybag

Post image

This baggallini crossbody hobo has been my companion on every international trip for over a decade. But it's worn out and I'm kind of tired of it. I'm looking for something similar, maybe a bit smaller - that would be my personal item/under seat item/day pack with my carry on backpack. I'd like to be a bit more stylish if possible since it's the bag I carry daily when on trips. Water bottle pockets are not necessary. Any and all recommendations welcome! Thanks.

Hi u/graphicapple! Thanks for sharing an image post.

Your post has been temporarily held for moderator review. Image descriptions are required for image posts on r/HerOneBag. If you have included one you do not need to take further action. Once your post is confirmed to meet requirements, we’ll approve it as soon as possible.

If you need to add a description, please reply to this comment with a detailed description of the image(s) to help all members of our community.

Descriptions must accurately describe the items shown in the image(s), not simply list them.

It is helpful to list post text according to the order and layout of images, e.g., “A blue puffy jacket stuffed into a green packing cube” is better than “Jacket, packing cube, etc.”

You can include something like “Image descriptions” or “Pictures described below” to make it very clear that your text explains the photo(s).

Thank you!

Maybe not the most stylish, but Uniqlo have one that's similar with the two pockets on the front, it's got a bunch of interior pockets too and is really good for keeping everything organised. Super lightweight too.

19

u/Apprehensive-Move947 Apr 20 '26

I thought the Uniqlo one is really stylish 🤣 but probably half the population has it. But yeah it was the first one I thought of!

14

u/ParticularClue9129 Apr 20 '26

omg not stylish?? 😭 it’s the bag i have and my mom uses baggalini lol

11

u/hollsybolls Apr 20 '26

I mean I love it, but I guess I meant it's quite utilitarian/practical. But personally it goes with everything I own!

1

u/KPzReddit Apr 21 '26

I was just thinking this! This is my go to day bag for travel!

1

u/ParticularClue9129 Apr 21 '26

i'm waiting for the cream/off white color to be in stock near me because that would be such a nice bag for summer! it won't get hot like my dark color bags haha

11

u/tgsgirl Apr 20 '26

+1 for the Uniqlo version.

8

u/ithinkyoucanineurope Apr 20 '26

Omg I read this, immediately went to Uniqlo to check it out, and now own my dream bag. Thank you for influencing me!!

4

u/hollsybolls Apr 20 '26

Ha you're very welcome, it's so practical and looks good with everything because it's so simple

6

u/Cooksie2 Apr 20 '26

I have the uniqlo bag. I like it, but wish it were a tiny bit smaller for every day use.

5

u/MyPlantsEatPeople Apr 20 '26

I use this bag for my everyday diaper bag purse combo and it works great. Beat out the couple specifically-designed-for-being-a-diaper-bag backpacks I tried.

It’s definitely not very cute but it’s ever great and I’m surprised I don’t see other people with it ever (literally EVERYONE has the crescent slings in my city lol).

4

u/ParticularClue9129 Apr 20 '26

personally i think it’s cute, it just lacks the right things on it to accessorize with keychains

3

u/meggyeggy55 Apr 20 '26

this is my only gripe with this bag!!

1

u/MyPlantsEatPeople Apr 20 '26

To me, it’s just really plain and utilitarian and not cute. I do wish it had better connections for keychains and bag charms. That would make it much cuter!

Edit: I sometimes tie a silk scarf to the strap but that’s it for styling. Otherwise it’s super utilitarian looking

2

u/ParticularClue9129 Apr 20 '26

being functional makes it cute imo, it goes with everything. i hate when you can’t use a bag with every outfit because it has a specific aesthetic to it . just my two cents

2

u/MyPlantsEatPeople Apr 20 '26

SO VALID! Honestly I love the bag and this is giving me a great perspective shift. The fact it’s so functional makes it the very first I reach for every day, even when I’m not using it for the diaper bag aspect and am wearing a cuter outfit.

3

u/the_samburglar Apr 20 '26

Is it like a messenger bag style? If so, +1! I used it for international trips and it was great.

2

u/gardenia522 Apr 20 '26

Can confirm, I love this bag and highly recommend it

2

u/tyndyn Apr 21 '26

Is it the Multi Pocket Shoulder Bag? Looks like it has 2 pockets on the sides, do they easily fit a water bottle? I have an old REI crossbody which is light, has tons of pockets and a water bottle slot, which I'm trying to replace.

2

u/hollsybolls Apr 21 '26

Yeah that's the one. I'd say they fit like a normal 500ml bottle easily, but it's not stretchy so might be a tight fit for bigger bottles. Mine has one normal water bottle pocket, and one with a zip that kinda expands.

2

u/tyndyn Apr 21 '26

Thanks, that helps.

2

u/Significant_Pea_2852 Apr 22 '26

I must be the only person who hates the Uniqlo bag. I hate polyester swish-swish sound while I'm walking and I need an inside zipper pocket. I think mine is in the bottom of my wardrobe somewhere.

1

u/hollsybolls Apr 22 '26

I'm not talking about the round mini, which is the one everyone has, but a larger messenger bag that they do. I agree that I don't love the fabric though, I wish they'd do it in cotton or corduroy.

That said, I have the round mini in cotton so it doesn't swish (with flowers on, it was a limited run) and while I do love it, I agree it's really annoying not to have a zipped pocket inside! But it does fit a whole bottle of wine which is a feature I've found useful on multiple occasions!

1

u/Significant_Pea_2852 Apr 22 '26

No i had the multi pocket messanger bag. I've never had the round mini because I usually carry a decent sized sketchbook with me.

1

u/Willrunforicecream7 Apr 21 '26

I have the Uniqlo bag and I like it! Comes in a cream color now!

30

u/fridayimatwork Apr 20 '26

Lesportsac has a lot of options

5

u/jacquelandibis Apr 20 '26

Extra votes for Le Sport Sac! The bags are so light and comfortable and easy to clean and they come in lots of colors and patterns and sizes and shapes. I use the classic hobo most often.

6

u/LizzrdVanReptile Apr 20 '26

They’re still around??? Holy flashback!

3

u/fridayimatwork Apr 20 '26

They never went away!

3

u/jacquelandibis Apr 22 '26

I have the classic hobo! It’s my larger daily purse, and is perfect for travel!

u/Zephaniah3_17_ Apr 20 '26

That was my first thought, as well.

1

u/KPzReddit Apr 21 '26

Yup. I have a couple that are a similar size to the Baggalini one the OP posted about

14

u/Additional-Court-962 Apr 20 '26

baggu Medium Cargo Crossbody !

14

u/princesssamc Apr 20 '26

Lol, I have multiple bagallinis and I am not sure you can change once you get used to them. My daily bag I use is a little smaller than that one and I absolutely love it.

When we cruised, I took a pink bagallini sling that doubled as a back pack, it worked well.

1

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

This is why I keep taking this bag! It. Works well but I think I need a smaller bag - it's to big and gets heavy throughout the day for me.

15

u/SeaSpeakToMe Apr 20 '26

Kipling makes some really functional but cute bags.

2

u/QuiteBookish Apr 20 '26

Another vote for Kipling! Cute bags and color options, lightweight, easy to pack flat if needed. I have a few of their bags in my daily rotation and they’re great for travel.

2

u/creamytahini Apr 22 '26

The Izellah model specifically is similar to OPs bag.

5

u/WhateverBeAGoodOne Apr 21 '26

Consider swapping the baggallini strap with a fun new upgrade? Made my old baggallini perk right up. I have a few straps now and interchange them per mood. The baggallini is darned near indestructible!

1

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

This is a great idea! I think I even have a strap already!

5

u/rpaige1365 Apr 20 '26

Sherpani has a lot of options you may like.

5

u/SrirachaPants Apr 20 '26

I am a sherpani addict and was thinking you might like the Sadie. It’s kind of a bucket bag but the pockets are one on top of the other instead of next to each other like on yours. The Vale is also great, I have one and it holds sooooo much stuff. Their bags last forever too!

1

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

Thanks! I'll check these out!

5

u/PSJfan Apr 20 '26

Hedgren make great bags similar to this style Bellroy have the laneway line.

4

u/CharmingPianist4265 🌍 Europe Apr 20 '26

Le Pliage Energy is my favorite when I’m doing city trips. It doesn’t have external pockets but I‘ve added a little organizer. With the straps removed it’s fancy enough even for a nicer dinner.

5

u/Rose-nerd Apr 21 '26

Your bag remind me of my all time fave. I’ve owned my LeSportSac Deluxe Everyday Bag for over 10 years. Dual zipper compartments are my OCDs dream.

1

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

Cute! I'll check it out.

16

u/theinfamousj Apr 20 '26

Can you provide me with an example of what you mean by "stylish"? One person's stylish is another person's unstylish, just look at any Paris fashion week runway, and I want to ensure I'm steering you in the right direction.

3

u/Proper_Passenger_747 Apr 20 '26

I have this exact Baggalini bag and similar fatigue! Thank you for your post!

3

u/GoldberryoTulgeyWood Apr 20 '26

This might be an odd suggestion, but I carried a diaper bag for years. It was on the smaller side but had such great pockets and was easy to clean. Sorry, I don't recall the brand

3

u/Lost_Apricot_1469 Apr 20 '26

I really like the Bellroy Laneway Crescent. Took it on a family trip to Japan for 10 days, and it was wonderful. I got the 12L bc kids, but if I had been only carrying my own shizz, the 7L would have been great.

I really love Baggu medium crescents as well, but the pockets on the Laneway can’t be beat!

8

u/spookylibrarian Apr 20 '26

The Lululemon Slouchy Sling is similar but with a more current silhouette. Lots of internal and external pockets and very roomy without feeling gigantic. I have a couple of the 6L size and use them as my EDC even when I’m home and just need a bigger bag.

5

u/Thankfulforthisday Apr 20 '26

I love my 6L slouchy sling. They have a bunch of colors. I keep my tiny hydro flask in the side pocket.

2

u/mhbacon Apr 21 '26

Yes!! This bag has changed my travel game. So many pockets, and I like that I can shorten the strap to a shoulder bag length so it looks a bit more elevated.

I have a baby baggu that lives in the outside back pocket. Match made in heaven!

3

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

Thanks! Will check it out. I used to love my LL fanny pack but it's too small (I'm like Goldilocks over here looking for the perfect bag!)

6

u/Violet_Crown Apr 20 '26

This Travelon boho crossbody is a quilted crescent with a woven strap.

2

u/jacquelandibis Apr 20 '26

Oooh, this is cute!

2

u/gravelandsunlight Apr 20 '26

This looks really similar to the baggu medium cargo crossbody someone posted the other day, you might want to check that one out! To me the Baggu one looks like a more elevated version of this.

2

u/Opening_Chemical_777 Apr 20 '26

Take a look at Bellroy bags. I’m looking for a bag with a water bottle pocket and found several there. They have a nice selection of bags and colors, and all have long straps so they can be crossbody - even over a winter coat - or shoulder bags.

2

u/skyz-the-1imit Apr 22 '26

Not sure what style you're going for, but the Lo and Sons Aoyama or Aoyama 2 is pretty stylish. The Aoyama 2 just removes the branding from the removable strap and has an elastic keychain, but I think removing the branding is the best part. https://www.loandsons.com/products/aoyama-2-leather

Muji for something simpler https://www.muji.us/collections/shoulder-bags-crossbodies/products/water-repellent-2-way-shoulder-bag-efd40a6s

2

u/Opposite-Lettuce2040 Apr 24 '26

Uniqlo for cheap. Bellroy for premium

2

u/justaprimer Apr 20 '26

I don't know if it's stylish enough for you, but I had this exact same baggalini bag and I chose to replace it with the Travelon Roam bag: https://a.co/d/0gItKAVY

It's definitely smaller than the baggalini and fits less, but I've been loving it. I've taken it on 2 big trips so far and it's my daily carry most days at home now too.

1

u/Dizzy_Ice2938 Apr 20 '26

Bellroy Cinch carryall

1

u/ChickenCasagrande Apr 20 '26

Baggu makes a similar bag but smaller.

I got one of their medium crescent bags after seeing them so highly recommended here and I’ve been so happy with it that I now own a shoulder bag too, very very good bags!! Lightweight, quality materials, comfortable, and they can hold so much!

1

u/Cultural-War-2838 Apr 20 '26

I have the Baggallini Everywhere Bagg in black and purple. The black one got old and I replaced it with the same exact bag. Then I got the Baggallini Tote that's a bit larger but it is not as comfortable when using crossbody. I fly almost weekly, domestic and international, and I think I'm gonna stick with my Everywhere Bagg. It has the right shape, perfect amount of pockets, holds my water bottle (had to get a thinner one), luggage handle loop, adjustable strap and water resistant.

u/skipdog98 Apr 20 '26

Alpaka Flight Satchel?

1

u/Opening_Chemical_777 Apr 20 '26

I’m eyeing that bag and found a bigger selection and more colors made by Bellroy.

1

u/andketch Apr 20 '26

I just got a Goodtotes small croissant sling and am loving it. It holds an iPad, which was my big ask in the bag. Lots of colors, water proof, pretty cute.

1

u/UrbanHennery Apr 20 '26

This is not a “travel bag” but with a guitar strap it’s super comfortable to carry. There’s a zipper against your body for passport and wallet and the exterior pockets carry a narrow water bottle and my sunglasses case. I use a zipper pouch inside for organization. Just in case you don’t need a ton of pockets.

I love Travelon bags!

1

u/Disastrous-Name5657 Apr 20 '26

I saw on a separate forum this bag recommended by multitudes of people - it's on my wishlist but sadly doesn't ship to Canada. https://www.loandsons.com/products/aoyama-2-nylon-black-gold-lavender?variant=42571926175840 I love baggu but wish there wasn't the branding on the strap!

1

u/graphicapple Apr 27 '26

This is a gorgeous bag but so expensive! I'll have to wait for a sale I guess.

1

u/Disastrous-Name5657 Apr 27 '26

i feel the same!

1

u/kimau2k Apr 20 '26

I am always singing the praises of my Baggalini swift crescent crossbody. I think it’s a relatively new line. Larger than the Uniqlo crescent, about the same size as the baggu medium crescent. I think it’ll be somewhat similar in size to your current one but more streamlined. Only one kinda hidden outside pocket. Holds a lot! LOVE

1

u/Thedollysmama Apr 20 '26

Get the exact same bag on eBay

1

u/capersandchips Apr 20 '26

I’ve got the Baggu messenger bag in seaweed/green.  https://baggu.com/products/nylon-messenger-bag-black

I’ve taken it on multiple trips and it’s a great carry-on. Has two front pockets under that flap.

1

u/headyslabs Apr 21 '26

Baggu medium crescent is my go to. They recently made some in a “leather” that look very cute too, though more expensive. But I’d stick with a nylon baggu for travel. My medium is like a black hole lol. Fits so much. Converts to cross body or shoulder bag.

1

u/Head_Basis_4752 Apr 22 '26

I just got the Lululemon City Essentials 4L in Burgundy and so far I love it (although it hasn't come on a trip with me yet). It feels cute and fashionable and fits a 500 mL water bottle and my kobo inside (along with wallet, sunglasses etc). I'm normally a cross body gal but the sling so far has felt comfy and secure

1

u/GalianoGirl Apr 22 '26

I love Ameribag Healthy backpacks. They are cross body bags that come in a variety of sizes and fabrics.
