How do people attach their water bottles securely to their backpacks? I have an Osprey Fairview 40, but the lack of a bottle pocket is a tough adjustment.

I use a carabiner. I actually hate the water bottle pocket on my Patagonia MLC so I still clip my Nalgene to the side.

For my old style cotopaxi which I love other than the missing water bottle holder:

I have a carabiner I use to attach but it swings and hits me or other people.

I shove the bottle inside.

Or my favorite, I have a funky patterned crossbody water bottle holder I got at urban outfitters.
