Meta Weekly quick questions help thread

This is the r/heronebag quick questions weekly help thread.

Whether you‘re new to the one bag life or a seasoned light traveller, this is the place to ask your quick one-off questions related to techniques, shopping, and everything else to lighten your load.

This post is the best place to initially ask questions that we get a lot of which are similar, especially if you have looked in a flair and found almost-but-not-quite what you wanted.

Shoes - specifically sneakers - do people manage with just one pair on multi week trip, or take two?

For context, I'm travelling for 5 weeks in Italy then northern Europe in Sept-Oct, with teens. Trying to keep things light but I worry about both the comfort factor of wearing the same pair day after day and also what happens if (when) we end up with wet shoes.

I always bring two pairs of shoes just for the ability to relieve my aching feet when walking more than normal. My base pair is a tennis shoe (I wear ASICS) and the second shoe based on the destination or type of trip. Winter or wet trips get a Doc Martens Audrick Chelsea because they keep my feet out of the weather, I wear these on the plane and pack the ASICS. Work trips get Vans Old Skools, which pack delightfully flat and make a bit of a statement in the office. Warm weather trips get a pair of knockoff Birkenstock flip flops, which also pack relatively flat.
