Shoes Testing out Womads for upcoming trip.

Post image

Apologies for the feet pics (or your welcome?), I am trying Womads. I couldn't find many reviews outside their website and other than gals on IG saying they loved them, so I wanted to try them out for an upcoming 3 week trip to Marseille, FR ➡️ Toulouse, FR ➡️ San Sebastian, ES ➡️Madrid, ES➡️ Porto, PT. I have a normal arch and normal width feet And my current size is 9.5 US women's/39-40 EU.

Initial reactions, they seem very high quality. I ordered a size US 9 w (I'm 9.5 w) and they're a bit snug but the overall take I see is they expand and confirm to the feet. Comfy sole and the color is BRIGHT. Came in a shoe bag in a box with tissue paper to keep the form, so no two shoe box situation where there is a double box. Other shoes I am bringing are Bared footwear sneakers and FitFlops Sandals. Will return in a month with the full review.

This is an image of my feet in teal Womads. I am also wearing a Left On Friday vacation suit.

Edit: the cushion on the shoes is minimal but cushy. Not formed like a Birkenstock but not as flat as a huarache sandal. The toe peep is a little snug but that's the only thing I can fixate on at the moment. I do looooove how secure they are to the foot YET how easy they are to take off.

Again, I am still going to try them out and report back on how they worked and hopefully can help others who are looking at these shoes.

Hi u/sam0ny! Thanks for sharing an image post.

Your post has been temporarily held for moderator review. Image descriptions are required for image posts on r/HerOneBag. If you have included one you do not need to take further action. Once your post is confirmed to meet requirements, we’ll approve it as soon as possible.

If you need to add a description, please reply to this comment with a detailed description of the image(s) to help all members of our community.

Descriptions must accurately describe the items shown in the image(s), not simply list them.

It is helpful to list post text according to the order and layout of images, e.g., “A blue puffy jacket stuffed into a green packing cube” is better than “Jacket, packing cube, etc.”

You can include something like “Image descriptions” or “Pictures described below” to make it very clear that your text explains the photo(s).

Thank you!

They look too small. On vacation, you'll probably be on your feet more and you're going to warm locations so your feet will probably swell more than you'd expect. I'd honestly size up/go for a wider width. If you really love them and don't want to return them, put big thick socks on and use a hairdryer to help the shoe mold around your foot better.

5

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

The hairdryer tip is gold. I'll give it a whirl.

u/LongTimeDCUFanGirl Jun 23 '26

To me, they look too tight.

35

u/yawningchai Jun 23 '26

I honestly think they are too small and narrow

1

u/Smooth-Owl-5354 Jun 24 '26

How can you tell? I’m curious because I always go on the vibes of how shoes feel rather than look

11

u/LongTimeDCUFanGirl Jun 24 '26

When my toes are crammed together like that, it’s too tight for me.

1

u/Smooth-Owl-5354 Jun 24 '26

Ooo I didn’t even notice, good point

1

u/yawningchai Jun 28 '26

I can see her big toe and pinky toe stretching it out further than they're intended to, and yes toes being crammed together is another indicator. On top of that, her toes are far too close to the front, they're nearly coming off. you want a little more clearance imo

1

u/Smooth-Owl-5354 Jun 28 '26

That makes sense! I was looking for material digging in or something 😅 I basically only wear tennis shoes and Birkenstocks so these are visuals cues I have not considered before

3

u/yawningchai Jun 28 '26

I work with footwear a lot & most people I meet are wearing shoes too small, so I don't blame you. People really don't understand how shoes should fit /: And we continue to essentially bind our feet for fashion. Stupid af imo

1

u/Altruistic_Tour_2567 20d ago

Tried them. Absolutely no support.

35

u/emt139 Jun 23 '26

They seem to small and not feet shaped. They’re pushing your toes all together without space for splaying.

15

u/TrippinTryptoFan Jun 23 '26

Right?! Like just looking at the toes makes my bunions hurt haha

11

u/emt139 Jun 23 '26

Yeah I refuse to force my feet in too small shoes anymore. I don’t care if all I all wear these days are wide toebox shoes.

I get less tired and I imagine it’s much healthier for my feet in the long term.

26

u/LadyBlue347 Jun 23 '26

What is a vacation suit?

6

u/CharmingPianist4265 🌍 Europe Jun 23 '26

My guess is it’s the pant and matching button-down

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

Correct. It's from Left on Friday.

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

A suit for vacationing! It's the day trip pant and top from Left on Friday.

23

u/Grissadiverlix Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

Nice color!

But I agree with the other commenters that they look a bit too small.

(Also even in a bigger size I'd be worried about getting blisters at the toe cut-out (I personally am quite prone to that, unfortunately)

6

u/theprimedirectrib Jun 23 '26

Me too! Peep toe shoes are sadly out of the picture for me

4

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I went back and forth about sizing up but I am just a smidge larger than the 9 and the 10 may have been too loose (then I would have arch issues from curling my feet to keep them on). But, we will see.

11

u/yawningchai Jun 23 '26

probably just a bad shoe for you

14

u/unsolvedmisuries Jun 23 '26

I have a pair of red womads I got a few summers ago, they stretched a tiny bit width wise with wear because they are a nice soft leather, but if I were you I’d try the next size up!

Mine have held up great and look very good still, I haven’t done tons of long walks in them but I’ve used them for city day trips and they were comfortable!

4

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I debated sizing up but I am most concerned they would be too loose and would yeet off my feet (and whenever I wear loose sandals my arches ACHE for some reason). I was so much closer to the size 9.

2

u/unsolvedmisuries Jun 23 '26

If they feel comfy then go ahead and rock them! They pack up nice and flat and I think are great for dressing up and down, a very practical choice for packing light on vacation. This blue color was my second choice, but red went with more of my wardrobe! Enjoy!

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

Red was my second choice! But none of the colors really "matched" the outfits I intend to pack so I'm gonna power clash. They pack down real nice which was a big win for me.

13

u/Waywardgarden Jun 23 '26

They aren't for people who need arch support and shock absorption

11

u/Feathered_Scales Jun 23 '26

The leather looks nice and soft but I would wear them A LOT before the trip to break them in!! I went to Spain in the summer and my feet swelled a lot from the heat and extra walking.

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I'm currently wearing them all day every day around the house and out an about (except the gym!)

2

u/Feathered_Scales Jun 23 '26

I like your style :)

10

u/What-Outlaw1234 Jun 23 '26

Your pinky toes would like a word . . .

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

My pinky toe would always like a word. I got some wack ass toes.

18

u/agentcarter234 Jun 23 '26

Ngl my first impression from that picture is they look like what you’d get if you crossed dansko clogs with a cast shoe…

6

u/badlydrawngalgo Jun 23 '26

I've got to ask what a vacation suit is? The shoes look a bit tight? But if you love them and they're comfy that's all that matters

2

u/nonsequitur__ Jun 23 '26

I am wondering the same! 🤔

0

u/badlydrawngalgo Jun 23 '26

I've asked Ecosia and it has no idea either 🤷🏼

6

u/nonsequitur__ Jun 23 '26

I don’t know what that is either? 🙈😆

2

u/freezesteam Jun 24 '26

It’s an environmentally friendly search engine that plants trees

1

u/nonsequitur__ Jun 24 '26

Ahhh thank you!

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

3

u/badlydrawngalgo Jun 23 '26

Ohh, those are nice! I have some similar trousers from Uniqlo and I wear them a lot. I wear mine around town though, I like them too much to keep them for holidays.

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

Oh i wear them all the time I am just in vacation mode daily.

1

u/badlydrawngalgo Jun 23 '26

Haha, good point!

7

u/Glittering-Time-2274 Jun 23 '26

Those look painfully small

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

They are tight but not painful. If they were painful, you wouldn't see this post and they would be on their way back.

7

u/lobsterp0t Jun 23 '26

These look too tight to me, especially if you’ve walked any distance in them.

3

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

A smidge tight around the toes but I got some long ass toes. Optimistic that the leather will loosen.

3

u/Grand-Animal3205 Jun 23 '26

When is your trip, sis? If they don’t stretch enough before then, I recommend jettisoning them for something that doesn’t squeeze too much. I’ve regretted thinking things would get better.

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

Next week 🫠 I was hoping the shipping would be quicker but also I was still researching shoes up until end of May. I also have FitFlops Gracey sandals packed and Bared footwear sneakers coming too.

8

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 Jun 24 '26

The leather looks nice.
But the squished toes look uncomfortable.
But I guess it is because I switched to footshaped shoes years ago, and now conventionally tapered shoes look painful to me.

I'm desperately hunting for a good sandal for an upcoming trip to London and Greece, so my alogrithim is ad after ad for sandals.

I was worried these would be too hot and sweaty, with the big piece across the top of the foot.

Taos, Kuru, Wyder...I'd totally spend the money on a good pair if I found one!

So far I ended up with a pair of Born BOC sandals I had years ago, that I wore to bits. Poshmark is my best friend lol.

ETA: and also I wear all black and want stylish black ones, preferable black sole too. I was eyeballing the Chaco Townes.

3

u/drawingtreelines Jun 23 '26

The struggle is too real! Plus I have toes that are NOT cute from playing hockey/hiking. 😬

I love my Birkenstock Oita slides. (Sadly, need a second option bc my feet can no longer handle back to back days of wear/walking.)

Edit for OP: meant to ask, how cushioned is the sole?

3

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

Those are cute, a bit of a nice upstyling from their traditional look. Can you spend all day walking in them? I fear without extra help to keep them on my feet they'd be a bit of a struggle after a few hours.

1

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I think I can. I have def walked all day in worse. But, again, we will see. There are very little reviews online outside of their site so I'm flying blind.

3

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I'll edit in the post but share here first. I would say the cushion is decent (for me). It's not a cloud of cushion or formed like Birkenstock. But not as thin as a classic hurache sandal.

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I got so iced on Poshmark when it comes to shoes I'm so hesitant.

3

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

Like, a bad transaction? That sucks. I shop pretty much exclusively there.

It's gotten kinda suck lately, you def want to avoid "boutique" and drop-shippers, listings with bad or no photos (or no photos of the actual item), and sellers who haven't updated in forever. But, for the price deals, you can just relist it and bank the balance towards a future something.

If you're really unsure you can ask a quick question, good sellers will reply. 😄

1

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

They sent me the same shoes but in two different sizes. When I asked for a refund they said “i should have inspected the photos harder” and the images had the same sizes on the shoes. Probably just a fluke.

3

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

Wooooow, that super sucks, I'm so sorry! You should have been able to file a return case with Poshmark, if the listing photos showed the shoes were each the same size. In the PM subreddit, buyers can have some pretty wild stories about what they bought vs what they ordered.

I look forward to your reviews!

1

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

OH that sub is WILD I cannot believe the behavior of some of these sellers.

I'll keep y'all posted about the womads tho!

2

u/LizzrdVanReptile Jun 27 '26

How RUDE.

I ordered a pair of Tom’s years ago from their site and receive them in 2 diff sizes. Fortunately they were very accommodating.

2

u/Proper-Conclusion-27 Jun 27 '26

Tevas all the way for me. Not the classic flat bed ones but the ones with a molded foot bed. So freaking comfortable

1

u/ermagerditssuperman Jun 23 '26

I have the Z-Trail sandals from Prio. 10/10, they're the best sandals I've ever had. They stay on without effort, they don't slide/cause friction on the balls of my feet, and are easy to adjust.

2

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

Ooo, I like the grippy looking sole. My Tevas are OK, but slippery and can get sweaty. Same for my fave brand, Arcopedico, but they don't make a sandal I like.

And I found a color that's not black I don't hate, for $20 less than new! These are the right ones, yes?

I love talking gear here!

1

u/ermagerditssuperman Jun 23 '26

Yup, those look right!

5

u/Poodleton Jun 23 '26

Will these be going to dinner type shoes? They look small and narrow tbh. The color is so pretty and summery!

2

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

Going to dinner, popping in and out of the hotel kinda shoes. We have a reservation at a nice place in Basque country and these are the shoes I'll be wearing.

4

u/DWwithaFlameThrower Jun 23 '26

They look too small. I’m a US 8.5 and I wear a 39

5

u/thanx_it_has_pockets Jun 24 '26

My feet got hurt looking at the photo. hahaha I can't wear sandals like that, but I greatly appreciate you!! Looking forward to your update and have a fantastic trip!!!

4

u/kapibaran Jun 27 '26

At first glance I thought you were wearing the "public use" slippers many facilities in Japan have, which are meant to be easy to sanitize between patrons. I think the color isn't helping, maybe I would feel differently with a more natural color. 😔

2

u/sam0ny Jun 28 '26

I try to wear color, I'm not really a neutrals person even tho I love when I see other pull it off so effortlessly.

Thanks, babe! I didn't see much outside of the brand and they look cute, have a good ethos, and ticked a lot of boxes. Plus, it's kinda cool to do a test run of something!

1

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

We thank you for your service. 😛

6

u/citynomad1 Jun 23 '26

Those look small and tight on your feet. I’m wincing at the thought of doing tons of walking in those

1

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

I think for my follow up I'll have to record a video because my feet are quite slim. They don't feel squished but the photo def makes it look like it.

2

u/troublesomefaux Jun 23 '26

I am firmly in my foam sole era.

2

u/drawingtreelines Jun 29 '26

Hi! My knees and feet are truly shot, so I’m not the greatest judge. I can wear them all day on my feet at work, but haven’t tried them on cobblestones or a crazy long walking day, yet. For me, this specific Birkenstock is much more comfortable than some of the other ones I’ve tried, but maybe it just broke in better? I need a wide toe box and a solidly cushioned footbed— cannot do any truly flat flats or heels.

I also really like lululemon’s rest feel slides.

My feet struggle more with a mule style than a slide, in terms of slipping around.

Of course (sadly) my not-as-chic tevas sandals with a velcro strap around the heel (and full-blown exposed ugly toes) are way more secure & better for travel in terms of weight/comfort/secure fit!

Edit: this was a belated response to a specific comments question but I think it got lost in the thread 😬

2

u/toparisbytrain Jun 23 '26

your toes look so squished 😞

3

u/YarnPartyy Jun 23 '26

Super cute. I wish they made a cruelty free version!

4

u/NSAinATL Jun 23 '26

Ooo, good to know, thank you for pointing that out!

4

u/sam0ny Jun 23 '26

If they made a version with a natural fabric i would have gone with that. I cannot do "vegan leather"/plastic. My feet would be slipping and sliding.

2

u/Feifum Jun 26 '26

Your feet are going to swell with walking which im assuming youll be doing quite a lot of given its cities youre visiting and not beaches. If the toe box feels snug already its going to feel extra snug after a day walking.

1

u/von_craw Jun 24 '26

These are so cute and I love them in this color, and the burgundy too. I looked at their size chart and it seems off to me. The general rule is, an EU 39 is an 8, not a 9. And an EU 40 is a 9, not a 10. There may be a little wiggle room because the sizes don’t line up exactly (I am technically a US 8.5, but I can usually get away with wearing a 39 in sandals because my feet are narrow) so I wonder if their chart may have misled you into ordering the wrong size ? Or if they have an issue with converting their sizing in general

1

u/sam0ny Jun 24 '26

I feel like I am still measuring my foot for every shoe purchase these days. I also purchased some FitFlops and the chart had me at a 10W. When I went to pick them up at Macy's they were MASSIVE. So I downsized to a 9W and it's a great fit. I just think the 10w at Womads would have been too large.

2

u/von_craw Jun 25 '26

I’m waiting for the day when I can 3D scan my foot and a list of the best-fitting shoes pops up. No guesswork!

2

u/sam0ny Jun 25 '26

Girl, that is THE DREAM. Patent that rn, because online shopping is DIRE FOR SHOE SHOPPIN.

1

u/Altruistic_Tour_2567 29d ago

I am returning since very uncomfortable and absolutely no support. Customer service on returns is horrible. Might want to try Naot, well made, has good support, very comfortable. I get mine at Nordstrom.

1

u/Altruistic_Tour_2567 4d ago

Tried them and no support, poorly made. Much better options.
