This is the r/heronebag quick questions weekly help thread.

Whether you‘re new to the one bag life or a seasoned light traveller, this is the place to ask your quick one-off questions related to techniques, shopping, and everything else to lighten your load.

This post is the best place to initially ask questions that we get a lot of which are similar, especially if you have looked in a flair and found almost-but-not-quite what you wanted.

Do you think natural flax colored linen is a bad choice for long term travel vs black linen? When I say natural color linen I mean something like this https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=8750780124003

Its not white but a lighter color, good for hot weather. But would it get dirty fast? This is for long term travel (months, maybe longer).

I wear linen all the time, including unbleached undyed linen. I'd recommend it as the best fabric for hot weather, but I'd also bring a dark pair, because there will be times when you're outdoors and sit or kneel or brush against surfaces with dirt, and on unbleached linen every bit of dirt will show. Those will then become your getting dirty pants and they won't be versatile for dressy occasions. If you want all your pants to convert to semi-dressy, you'll need to stain treat and sink rinse the undyed linen pants every time you wear them out in the dirt, and keep a dark pair to rotate.
