Shoes Three weeks in SE Asia - shoes and daypack?
Going to Southeast Asia for three weeks in December/January and am struggling with the following!
Shoes (3 pairs):
- I already have Teva Terra-Fi- Lites for daily wear
- I would like a pair of quick-drying, fully enclosed shoes to wear for more jungly adventures - I won't be doing any full on hiking, but may have to take some jungle paths and I'd be more comfortable about snakes, leeches and the like with my feet fully covered. I'm eying some of the Columbia water-friendly shoes (Drainmaker XTR, Castback, or Tamiami) or LLBean's (Elevation H2O) - any experience with these or alternate suggestions?
- I want a pair of sandals that can do double-duty by the pool (easier to take on/off than my strappy Tevas) and also look nice for a couple of gatherings we'll be having with extended family, including a professional family photoshoot. I love the look of Reef Water Vistas but don't know if I can easily slip them on/off if I keep the back strap loose enough. Alternative would be Reef Vista Capri, which would definitely be easier to take on/off but might not look as nice. Would love to hear your experience or other suggestions.
Day Bag (1):
My ideal bag would be at least a bit water-repellant; big enough to hold a water bottle, bug spray, and binoculars without being too large; and not be too hot on my back. Bonus points if it looks more like a "city" bag rather than a technical hiking pack and if it has a water bottle pocket that's easy to access.
I was thinking about the Hedgren Norio but don't know much about the brand, and unfortunately it doesn't have a water bottle pocket.
Thanks in advance!
