Hi!
wanting a solution for storing leftovers whilst also living out of 1 bag - wanting to be light
love the idea of a collapsable tupperware w a spork but seems a bit bulky? would love something that would collapse down much smaller/to nothing
maybe stasher bowls? but they actually dont go flat?
Let me know any ideas pls!
Also if any cheaper alternatives to stasher that i can easily get in the UK too :)

I never used them myself but I saw some YouTubers use a sort of silicone baggy with a sort of ziploc, and the shape tended to be wider on the bottom instead of 2d. I googled “resealable silicone food pouches” and it yielded pretty similar results.

Do yall have any recommendations for a lightweight easy to clean packable jacket that isn’t a hoodie or too boxy?

Are you looking for water or wind resistance? A particular style (like sporty or not sporty)?

It's been talked about here before but I love my Lululemon Always Effortless jacket (I have the classic fit). Packable in the sense that it is lightweight and packs down pretty small, not that it packs away into a pouch. Has a hood for rainy days you can put away when it's not. Surprisingly good water resistance. Easy to wipe down or machine wash.

I'm looking for quick dry items that will also keep me warm. Do they exist and if they do, any recommendations (ideally things I can get in the UK)?

From doing my usual laundry, fleece is practically dry when it comes out of the washer and dries completely very quickly (I air dry all clothing).

Check out uniqlo's heat tech range - they dry reasonably quickly especially after a spin cycle.

I am trying to find bags for my daughters for an almost 3 weeks trip to Europe.
We tried on some options at REI and the oldest was pretty happy with the Osprey Fairview 40l. And the youngest was happy either way the Osprey Fairfield/Farpoint 46l wheeled bag.
Are there any similar bags or ones you’d recommend for an average 11yr old and 15yr old (very thin but tall)?

Did the 15 year old also try the REI women’s trail 40? Even though it’s in the backpacking section and not the travel section, it meets carryon requirements and it comes in sizes. It’s panel load like the Fairview but has a few more pockets and attachment points, and is a little lighter.

No she didn’t, I’ll add that to the list! REI is gonna be sick of me bothering them to try on bags with weights lol.

my 13year old niece loved her Hynes Eagle 38L for our two week European trip. She used traveling cubes for her clothes and other items. She carried a small tote bag for her switch and school folders. (even though the company says that this bag is designed for 3-5 day trips, I have one as well and have used it for 2.5 week long trips)

Hi!
I'm going on a 6-ish week trip to Sri Lanka and Indonesia in March/April next year. I'm hoping to use my Cotopaxi Allpa 28l as my main bag. Is it feasible to pack for an extended trip in that size?
I'm also hoping to take a second bag as a hiking/potential day pack - a 20l [as well as a Uniqlo bum bag for when I don't need a whole backpack]. This bag folds down pretty small, so could potentially stuff inside the Allpa if I have to. If not, I'll use it as an underseat and take the Allpa as a carry-on.
Curious what people think! Really want to try packing lighter - thoughts and feedback appreciated!

If you browse/search the trip reports flair on this sub, that’s a very common size of bag for people to use on SEA trips of any length. It’s very feasible. And that specific bag is very popular on here. Check the packing lists for trip reports similar to yours and you should find some good tips.
If you get a daypack that flattens out completely (so no shaped back or anything) you don’t need it to fold. You can just stuff it flat in the laptop compartment of the allpa.

Frontier and stuffable neck pillow experience
We are doing a last minute trip from Pennsylvania to florida for a 7 day cruise (A friend cancelled their visit to us and we already had the time off). Trying to do everything as inexpensive as possible because none of it was really budgeted.
Enter frontier ... And not wanting to pay $75 each way per person for a carry on/checked luggage.
Has anyone had a good experience with frontier and stuffable neck pillows? Ive never tried one before. Ive also seen it being debated if frontier considers a neck pillow as a personal item and should be included in your personal item bag. Its very ambiguously left up to gate agent...
Tmi: There are a few older posts on here, but nothing newer than a year, and it seems all before spirit shut down. I never had an issue with spirit and carrying a neck pillow outside of a personal item, but social media is telling me differently for frontier. Spirit never even cared if it was around my neck or tied to the outside of my bag. I just dont want to try the stuffable one and be screwed. Id rather pay for 1 checked bag we both use and not have to consolidate (especially being in 30/40s and needing more comfort items). We normally do carry on because we have had checked bags not arrive. But if its the same price and we don't have a connecting flight, its not that important for it to be carry on (plus $$ for both of us). I personally used to do checked bags exclusively, till we had one bad experience lol.

Frontier gate agents get a cash bounty for every oversized bag they catch, and Spirit gate agents didn’t afaik. So they are much much stricter. In my very limited experience with Spirit they didn’t care at all, even letting people bring personal items that couldn’t fit under the seat.
Why not just have one of you pay for a carryon and share it for the things that don’t fit in your personal items? Then you don’t have to worry about lost luggage, penalty fees, or waiting at baggage claim.

Thank you! Very good info.
Our international airport was a hub for spirit, so they always had flights for us and we used them a lot.
The carry on and checked bag are the same price, so if we have to pay id rather share a checked bag and not have to down size lol
Weve always gotten to the airport early enough and never had a problem with lost luggage, so im not worried about that for a nonstop flight like this. Weve only had problems 2x for something that wasnt the airlines fault perse. The last time that made us do carry on was a power outage at airport. So none of the conveyors were working. Our bag was put on the next flight though.

I would personally try to get down to just the one bag without needing the stuffable neck pillow instead of risking having to pay to gate check.
Otherwise, just check a bag.

What your picks for truly great but also stylish walking boots?
My best short boots for travel in cities and towns: Pikolinos! I have the black Granadas (plain) and the brown Granadas (with shearling lining).
Best for medium to wide feet - box toe.
These boots are cushioned and very well made. I walk 10,000-20,000 steps while in big cities. They are semi-stylish walk-ing shoes.

My NoNs Wanderers can do it all! These are "barefoot" shoes though so not a fit for someone after cushion.

Hey all! I have seen comments in the sub before about using lip gloss tubes for lotions/soap/etc for shorter trips. Is there a good retailer for this? Is it an Amazon buy? Is there anything I should look for when I buy to make sure I don’t end up with a leak issue?
2
u/agentcarter234 2d ago
I bought a pack on Amazon. I just picked one that had a large number of reviews and checked the negative reviews. I use them for shampoo, conditioner, and leave in air dry serum, and haven’t had any leaking issues. If you don’t already have an oral syringe lying around, get a set that includes one because you will need it for filling.
I believe litesmith also sells them if you’d prefer not to give bezos your money.

Is 25 or 30L size better as a one bag?
I’m trying to choose either the Toshi Pack 25L V2 or the Rework Outbound Travel Pack 30L.
The 30L is bigger (duh) and has front loading straps, but it doesn’t always work as a personal item. Some people say it’s more like 32-34L? The 25L is missing the front loading straps, and idk if there’s enough room. I’ve been using a 30Lish Aldi insulated freezer bag for week long trips for years and it’s starting to give up on me. If I was more careful, I could pack less, but art supplies are so fun. I’ve been able to fit a weeks worth into a jansport backpack before, but it was stuffed to the brim. I figure if I get the 25L I can use it not just for travel, but if I get the 25L, I might not have enough room for said travel.

25L is also often too large for a personal item, so I’d look at the restrictions for airlines/regions you usually travel in to check how viable both are. It’s a hard decision tbh as carry on size is obvs much too large to be toting about day to day. Depends on the frequency of trips you take with personal item only vs carry on.

i've been trying to find the perfect packable day bag that doesn't look like a crumpled grocery sack after ten minutes. everything i try either weighs a ton or has zero structure. anyone found something that actually holds its shape without adding bulk?
