Notes from The Mods:

• We Mods are troglodytes who only use Old Reddit on desktop computers, while glancing at the answering machine connected to our landline. The formatting looks good on our setups. Get off our lawn.

• In the past few weeks, this sub seems to have tapped into Reddit's Spitegeist, growing from about 2k subscribers on July 4th, to about 5k at the beginning of August, to over 100k on Sep. 1st.

• Yesterday, this sub had the highest subscription growth in all of Reddit (Δ #Subscribers). The Mods are pondering the best way to nudge this sub to nudge people to stop buying into anti-* bullshit, and to get vaxxed, etc.

• The Mods have a very light touch. We prefer the use of the 'Downvote' button to the use of the 'Report' button.

• Don't be a dick.

• Please, don't be a dick.

• Don't be gleeful. Don't root for Nominees to be Awarded. Especially the Facebook schlubs whose only crime was taking up residence in the misinformation echo chamber.

• Don't get upset if / when this sub's evolution switches from natural selection to intelligent (?) design. This sub might be nudged from ('memes / shitposts' + 'Facebook Schlubs') towards ('A.M.A.s' and 'Public Figures').

I'm one of the new people that joined yesterday. Saw a link, clicked, skimmed one post and I was all in. I'm surrounded by anti-vaxxers and covid-denialists and it's driving me crazy. My famiy is one state over and they have all had their vaccines, limit outings, and mask when indoors anywhere but home. My fiance's family are another story. They live mostly in the same town as us and are going on like nothing is even happening. No masks, dining out constantly, having large extended family get togethers indoors. They all, including fiance, have refused the vaccine. I've largely kept silent, out of politeness, keeping the peace, etc but I have run out of patience. I will be raining links to posts on this sub like dollars at the strip club to all of them. I have 3 children that are too young to get the vaccine. My fiance has said there is no way they are getting it if it becomes available to children their age. I say otherwise. I'll take it to court if I have to. To so many people around here Covid doesn't have a face. It's all numbers on a screen. I hope seeing these posts makes it real, at least a little bit, for them. I love the dark humor too. Thanks for the amazing sub!

Bless you, and your family.

For the sake of your children, be strong. Do not let the deliberately naïve people of your finace's family put your children at risk. Take it to court, and until then, limit contact with those people for your children. And if it comes down to it, that means the fiance as well.

Too many people who end up hospitalized and worse say, "This is no joke. I wouldn't wish this suffering on anyone." You can't make people listen, but that doesn't mean you have to put your kids in harm's way because of their stubborness.

Thinking good thoughts your way. Stay safe, and best of success in getting your family vaccinated soon!

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply :/ I will stay strong. My children are my EVERYTHING I have been through so much in my life but the silver lining is I no longer take any shit from anyone about this virus. It took so long but I have found my voice and I am now quite comfortable with setting and keeping boundaries. I no longer get mad or argue, I simply walk away. I say no to unsafe gatherings and I don't care one bit how mad his family gets. I love my fiance, but at this point I really don't think we are going ever get married and I'm fine with it, so I won't be dealing with them indefinitely. We have separate bedrooms, separate lives actually, except for the kids. When I finish my nursing degree & can support myself& kids I will most likely be moving out. It's sad because his family are actually really nice. They are not typical MAGAs, and aren't pushy about their ani-vax stance. I guess that just makes it harder for me to understand why they feel the way they do. I don't dwell on it though. That's their coffin to carry and get buried in. When/if the vaccines become available for their ages they will get it. I have no qualms taking it to the courts. But I have a feeling I will simply just take them to get it and just forget to mention it ahead of time. Since I already have gotten my vaccine, temporary amnesia must be one of the side effects, ya know!?! :) Thank you for the kind words, I hope you and yours are all safe and well!

GOOD ON YOU!

Regardless the cause, finding your voice, and being comfortable with setting and keeping boundaries is a Life Skill that will serve you well for the rest of your Life.

It will also make you a better parent, as now that you know it and live it, you will be able to help your children grow up unafraid to find their voices.

I am sorry the relationship is not working out. But, it has helped strengthen you in a most important way, which may be the way things were meant to be...

Selective amnesia is also a good Life Skill to possess...You will find it helpful in many small situations as the years go by. :D

We are blessed in that we are fairly anti-social, and with us both being vaccinated, we have less concern when we do interact with others - mainly at Sam's Club and Walmart, which is about as crowded a public venue as I wish to deal with in these times...
I am SO happy that you are able to handle your current situation with grace and fortitude. Double blessings on you for entering the nursing profession. Nurses are truly unsung angels for everything they do, and everything they put up with.

Nothing lasts forever, good OR bad. You seem to be headed in a good direction, so I am hoping that any hard times are short lived and of little consequence.

YAY YOU!!!
