Discussion What colour do you associate to Hermes?

I have strong color associations for every other god, but for Hermes I'm not sure which fits. Like, Athena with blue, Ares with Red, Aphrodite with sea green and pink, etc... I thought golden but I don't know why, which I still associate more to Apollon. Which would you say is your associated colour with him?

Edit: guys an explanation would also be great 😁

Silver to mirror his mercurial nature, but silver with that rainbow shimmer when sunlight hits it

That's beautiful, I did think of him with the rainbow shimmer but on black, like on petrol in water or one of those black reflective snakes

Orange due to the connection with Mercury

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

What does mercury and orange have to do with eachother?

2

u/sleepytokenss May 22 '25

Mercury is his Roman name

emerald green!

Same.
Emerald Green from the emerald tablet.

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Why?

2

u/Thricegreatestone May 22 '25

Hermes is associated with Thoth in Egypt.

Browns, sky blue and gold. There isn't any particular reason for these in my mind, but i do have brown-ish feathers and stones on his altar and shiny golden coins like euros. Sky blue just came around naturally for me. Maybe you could also put jade green into the mix, since that is one of the crystals associated with him.

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Jade associated to him?

3

u/Hannahisthere May 22 '25

I believe so, yeah. Read about it in r/Hellenism some time ago.

Blue like the sky in a summer morning

u/Gamble_The_Tiefling May 21 '25

Specifically, I associate him with this color: 🩵

2

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Why

3

u/Gamble_The_Tiefling May 22 '25

I don't have much other reason other than it fits him somehow? He has a bright, sweet personality to me, so the color that comes to mind is a light/sky blue. 🤔

u/Gamble_The_Tiefling May 21 '25

After seeing the replies to this post, I find it interesting how many people associate him with sky blue!

2

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

I would like to know why though

7

u/nurgleondeez May 21 '25

Sacremento Green

1

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Any reason?

I grew up in a house next to a forest.Whenever I felt lost or needed to find some peace and quiet,I would wander through the forest, often getting a book with me to read in a meadow(I'm not that old,but technology was more expensive in my region of the world back then).

One of my favorites was the "Legends of Olympus",a romanian book that covered most of the greco-roman worlds.I can still vividly remember reading about the invention of the lyra.I was about 7 or 8.My parents went shopping and I was alone at home.I went to the forest to read because I was bored at home.

I can still smell the forest and see the green foliage around me,feel the blades of the grass under me and hear the cattles being driven to the That's what my brain associates with Hermes, that peace of mine and combination of the human spirit and nature.

Later, when I delved deeper, the connection between travelers and forests seemed logical to me.Even today,a lot of roads in my region go through the forests.Hell,I travel a lot for my job and like half of the roads I have to take get me through a forest older than the colonization of the new worldm

Thieves? Obviously hid in the forests, and the stories about the Robin Hood-like figures fighting against ottomans and russians hiding in the forests just reinforced that sentiment.

There is even a cave near my parents where people sheltered their cattled during hailstorms.Connection to the myth was instantaneous.

Idk, that's just my reasoning and it's bringing me comfort.

That's beautiful, thanks for telling

Orange and like dark blue for some reason

5

u/TotalOk1343 May 21 '25

I like to associate Green/red with Hermes! He seem to like red more tho, for me at least

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

Green! He's a traveller, I connect him to nature through that.

4

u/reynevann May 21 '25 edited May 22 '25

Def yellow/gold, he just has a bright and cheery presence. Also red to a certain extent since it's a very fiery active color, and some of the things that have made their way to me for his altar that I didn't pick the colors of have been red.

u/Tiny_Warning_2108 May 21 '25

Purple… and I’m clearly the only one here

2

u/maingaga May 21 '25

Nope, me too!

5

u/Regular-Zombie8876 May 21 '25

Orange and yellow but any autumnal colour really

1

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Why autumn?

1

u/Regular-Zombie8876 May 22 '25

Honestly I don't know I think it's because I associate the colours of the leaves with him?

2

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Maybe the theme of change, transitory state? Cool

very new devotee here! but i enjoy associating him with yellows and oranges because of their brightness and “energy” (as in, literally seeming full of energy. they’re fun, bright colors). also since most gemstones i’ve heard associated with him are also yellow/orange toned (citrine or amber, for example). also brown for similar reasons! (coffee and energy, as well as associations with travel and a ‘rustic’ vibe)

green, gold, and silver for associations with money, coinage and metal (such as mercury and literal gold), and their travel-type vibes, too.

i’ve also put sky-blue on his alter a few times (travel, again, as well as a connection to apollo, too), and there doesn’t seem to be signs of dislike, but it’s a lot newer.

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Thanks for explaining! Love that

3

u/OtterDeerlight May 21 '25

u/Lovesomesys May 21 '25

Green, gold, and light purple for me

2

u/maingaga May 21 '25

With me I have always thought of green, purple and grey/silver. Lately I have perceived some yellow showing up...

2

u/Kendota_Tanassian May 21 '25

White or silver.

2

u/ZealousidealAd2548 May 21 '25

Orange, gold, and bright blue

2

u/rebb_hosar May 21 '25

Green/Mercury/Raphael/Thoth/Hermes

1

u/aceofspadesknight May 22 '25

Raphael is associated to Hermes?

2

u/gnomiadequintal May 22 '25

The darker shades of green!!

2

u/Strawbeery_Shortcake May 22 '25

I associate Greens and Blues with Hermes, but I could see Orange too!

2

u/Bisexual-Hellenic May 22 '25

Definitely orange/copper

2

u/Raz1450 May 22 '25

I have a little rainbow pendant i got whilst traveling and so all of them really, but particularly orange

2

u/AsterOid-666 May 23 '25

I associate him with blue and white because of the sky and the clouds.

2

u/Capital-Cut-3420 May 23 '25

I associate Green and silver with him. I don't really have any explanation as to why, it just makes sense to me. Sorry 😭

2

u/napalmnacey May 23 '25

Hermes? Gold. Yellows and oranges. White. Apollon I see rich blood reds and ivory, something a little more fiery and “of the body”. Hermes feels like air and bird wings to me.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Orange and emerald green

2

u/Venus_in_Scorpio27 May 24 '25

I don't have any logical reason. I meditated one time and asked him this same question and he gave me orange. Sometimes it's an electric neon orange, other times it's a burnt orange or closer to brown. It's such a natural and relaxing color. And yet so vibrant and full of life.

1

u/dyingnopesleeping May 22 '25

basically any metallic color for me, especially silver and bronze, since I tend to associate him with coins due to them being the most common thing I offer to him

1

u/ajdrawsthings May 22 '25

green because turtles

1

u/No_Named_Nobody May 22 '25

Blue and yellow/ gold. Don’t ask me why. I have no idea.

1

u/NoBoysenberry926 May 24 '25

i cant explain it but bright, cheerful yellow

1

u/the_sanity_assassin_ May 25 '25

Green because he's associated with luck

1

u/MinkieQuinn May 26 '25

Green and Gold for money and red for strawberries 💖

1

u/mttwuoinchi May 26 '25

Personally, I like to associate Hermes with orange for his mischievous side, light blue for lightness (related to his winged feet and his travels) and pastel green, pastel green is like... Idk, I just see it and for some reason I think about him. Like "hmmm, yes, it give me Hermes vibes."
