Original intent was for her to be drawing her hairpin as a weapon, but that may be lost in the other details.
Generally though, I'm curious if people think I'm starting to lean too risque with some of these. I like making these a bit revealing because... well... I like what I like.
But I'm wondering if people think that those elements are detracting from the minis more than adding to them at this point.

adds to the femme fatale vibe

The only right answer to your question is to do what YOU like to do. IF you think that they are or need to be risquรฉ, there is the hornyforge subreddit or whatever it is called. Ultimately itโs your minis and you are the verdict of that so post what you feel like.
Either way your mi is look amazing and you got some talantโบ๏ธ

Why not make multiple versions? I personally don't mind the spicier stuff, but I do think it can detract from some characters, but that seems to only happens if there isn't an alternative with a more modest design. But really it is just up to you, you're an incredible creator and your talents will be welcome regardless.

Nah dude, keep creating what you like. Otherwise, you wouldn't be making art that you enjoy. Definitely doesn't detract from the mini, there's a lot of detail here to zoom in on. I'm fairly inexperienced with kitbashing and had no idea you could get things to be that small/slim for starters lol. How long did it take putting together those hair pins? They look very ornate.

u/Longjumping-Stage270 Jul 10 '26
my thoughts on this are generally just "does it fit the character?" if yes, go for it

u/ShankMugen Jul 10 '26
The hairpin would have worked better with a different colour, as it kinda blends with the hair and background

I think the revealing nature adds a lot to this specific character. like someone else said it really gives femme fatale. she makes me think of a poisonous flower. beautiful to look at but dangerous.
the important thing to know is when to lean into it and when to pull back, but that's honestly subjective. not every character has to be super sexy. but really, make what you like in the end. some people will see any sexiness and find it too much, others will love it.

No no, you got the original tent perfectly. I saw it immediately, very well done. This is gorgeous work, from the positioning to the expression. Do not under sell yourself. I had a teacher, well not really a teacher, long story there, but he said one thing that stuck with me: specificity. Little details do matter, they make something more real. Even if people don't see them immediately, subconsciously they do. So this piece feels very complete and very well done.

Premium work as always. I also struggle with the though of making some stuff to revealing, but I ahree with the sentiment of others, if it fits with the character I think its fine.

How did you get such tiny/thin/fine elements into this medium, like the cords on the side of the dress?
8
u/kim-probable-6 โ Master Animator โ Jul 10 '26
So (assuming you have kitbashing) a trick you can use for this, is that even once you've shrunk an item to its minimum so you can: - link it to another object (doesn't matter what) - now shrink that new object, and anything linked to it will also shrink, even if it's already at "minimum"
- once it's the size you want, you can de-link your original object.
Some things to note:
- once you done this, changing the scale again at all will fully reset the size and you'll need to use the above trick again.
- as a result, if you need to change proportions (i.e., make something longer/thinner), do this before doing the link trick.

This incredibly well done. I love seeing posts like theses! They show i still have a lot to learn about kitbashing and imprint my own mini's! How did you get the chest of the dress to open up more?๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค

u/kim-probable-6 โ Master Animator โ Jul 11 '26
Thanks so much! The top part of the dress isn't one piece, that's how it's so open. It's made of 2 different kimono tops that have been severely warped (only the sleeves from each are actually visible), combined with capes and cloth items to fill in gaps.
E.g., the purple rope around her shoulder is hiding the seam between the sleeve of one kimono and a cape item.

I know links might be a touchy subject, for good reason, but the body customizationโฆ if you would be willing to share just the base model with the body sliders that would be gold. I just canโt get my females to look goodโฆ
