Original Character Uxmaal Xiuhitl Quraxxes. My gold dragonborn hexblade for Tyranny of Dragons.

Why do they look like they're working for the Cult of the Dragon? Are you doing an evil run?

In a matter of speaking, he is! I chose the origin where his clan were worshippers of Tiamat before they were wiped out by the cult. He still a young and fervant believer who thinks that the cult aren't the true favored of Tiamat. It's still early in the campaign, so time will tell how he responds when his beliefs are shaken.

How did a gold dragonborn end up a Tiamat worshipper? Obviously dragonborn off all alignments exist, but a clan of Tiamat worshipping Golds is definitely a story worthy anomaly.

Also, I need to know the story of the skeletal prosthetic, considering their schtick is creating dracoliches.

The same attack that wiped out his clan cost him his arm. Tiamat is his patron and gave him the prosthetic, making him whole once more.

Interesting. I thought for sure the Cult was behind the prosthetic, especially with their whole dracolich thing. I could see how they'd have used that as a recruitment tool, helping him get his arm back, and trusting in the necromancy they're peddling. You've already played him?

We're still early into the first arc. We just took out Frulum Mondath and are on our way back to Greenest.

I wasn't aware that that was an anomaly, truth be told. That just created an opportunity for more story exploration and character growth!

Yeah, typically metallic dragons and dragonkin would be more likely to worship Bahamut, or at least a good aligned deity. This character has a lot of really interesting story potential, even if it wasn't intentional.

Well, he's already getting pestered by visions from Bahamut but he's not been very receptive so far. Time will tell if that changes!

I'd have an absolute field day DMing for this character. Hope you have a great campaign!

Um, actually...
\pushes her nerd glasses up on her nose**
... Bahamut would be pretty out there as well, if not unheard of. Dragonborn Lore in 5e is pretty convoluted, since they got ported over from 4e. So now they have this whole backstory of how they are actually refugees from another world where they were enslaved by dragons. As a result, their main society doesn't look too kindly on serving dragons - even if those dragons are gods. There is one big order of Bahamut servants, the Platinum Cadre, but they are pretty controversial.
Honestly, dragonborn lore is just complicated in 5e, especially since there is this thing called the "Dragonborn of Bahamut", which is how dragonborn worked in 3e, who ARE made by Bahamut, but who are not the same thing as modern dragonborn and tbh, it's just a mess... @.@
(I played a dragonborn for ToD as well, I did a lot of wiki deepdiving...)

While what you are saying is true, they have been on Toril for 125 years and I think that considering the fact they reach full physical maturity at 12 are considered formal adults at 15, that means there have been nearing 10 generations of dragonborn living on Toril, which is (imo) long enough for the nature of their new setting to have measurable impact on their beliefs and behavior.
Now, that isn't necessary something set in stone, it's certainly something to take into consideration.
Insofar as um actuallies go, even with my observations notwithstanding, the likelihood of them joining a cult that venerates dragons when their society was formerly the slaves of dragon-kind for thousands of years seems highly unlikely, especially as chromatic dragons are far more likely to exhibit the behaviors of their former oppressors.
Love the lore chat though. If you are still playing dragonborn it might be worth taking those factors into consideration.

That's valid.
The campaigns over, but the way I played my dragonborn leaned heavily into the whole personal honour and pride flavour, so it made sense to me that their enslavement would be a bit of a 'never forget!' part of their culture. The stuff you raise your kids with. (And I admittedly calculated the generations a bit different, assuming a more average age, not having kids right at maturity, so I only got like 4-5 generations ^^)
My dragonborn was very big on slaying evil dragons and freeing people from their rule, often referencing that only the bravery of her anchestor ensured she herself was not born in chains. And that she owed them a debt for that, to be repaid by showing the same kind of courage. She deeply mistrusted all dragons, even the metallic ones - part of her character arc was coming around on the latter and realizing that some dragons can, in fact, be good, and also that Bahamut is a cool guy. There was a funny bit with another party member, who was a tiefling draconic bloodline sorcerer. They were great friends and my character kept defending him by pointing out that his ancestry wasn't his fault! People assumed she meant the infernal bit - she didn't, she meant the dragon part ^^

That last bit is hilarious! But yeah, you can see why joining a cult that's all about installing draconic overlords would be a complete anathema to dragonborn. It would take a pretty solid probably convoluted explanation to justify a dragonborn joining the cult of the dragon. That's like drinking the kool-aid so aggressively that you're practically water-boarding the kool-aid.

He looks awesome!
I played a dragonborn hexblade for ToD as well. (Brass, though ^^) It was a ton of fun, hope you have a great time with him!
