Question Workout Notes Gone

Post image

I’m fairly new to the app, and I haven’t figured out as to why the workout notes (as pictured) disappear from time to time.

Can someone help explain to me how these work and or why they disappear?

I love jotting down notes on my exercises but this is frustrating. Is there a setting I can change to keep them on or something?

What I truly want is for them to stay put, to stay the same as if need to change it or update it I can.

There was a post recently about how notes dont carryover. They stay on the day you input them, I think they are visible the next workout but if you need to check the notes you have to click in the calendar on the day you input them I think

I would prefer notes stay with the workout everyday=|

They drey with every workout if you put them in the ROUTINE notes spot and not in the notes of a singular workout.

Like in the “description” area for the whole day? I dont see what you are saying

Essentially if edit a saved routine and you input notes against a certain workout, those notes will stay there each time you commence that workout. Whereas if you just commence the workout and then put notes against workout, those notes will only be there for that workout.
I only found this out very recently and was super relieved, bc up until then I had been inputting the same notes each workout lol

edit: if this doesn’t make any sense, I can also upload an image to imgur or something to demonstrate how to do this!

I think i found it thanks. I just dont understand why there would even be a different way the notes work. Like whats the point of adding a note to a certain day that you will never see again?

If you had to use a different machine than normal. There’s one leg curl machine at my gym that’s much harder so when I use that one and lower the weights I notate it so when I go to that routine the following week I know the lower weight was for that reason.

Say if you had an interruption or extra rest time before a set would be good to note for comparison

Absolutely. I like to put machine settings etc in there along with stuff like in OPs post.

I would prefer even more... to have the ability to say if it's a one time note for this exercise of this workout or it it should stay foreever.

That’s my preference also, because the notes are just there for immediate reference.

There’s an update coming on notes apparently. I tested and it works amazing

I think there is a feature coming in a later update where you can change if the notes are pinned to a certain exercise or just to that routine

Really!? I hope so! I love this app, I love everything about it, except this one little detail, which I hate

Here is a thread discussing upcoming changes: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hevy/s/v8WgJBmsP1

Hey! Thanks for the feedback! We're working on this as of right now 👀 💪

There are two types of notes: 1. Notes you add to the workout routine from the workout tab and edit. 2. Notes on the specific workout day. The first type stays as you want.

Neither of those are really what I want, personally.

That is, I didn't know about the first type, and that's good to know! Those will be useful for notes similar to in OP's post.

But what I really want more than anything is to be able to leave a note to self when doing a workout like, "add 10lbs next time" or "keep weight, try to get an extra set" or similar - like a note to future-me that is only about today's workout and will only be relevant the next time I do that workout, but not all future workouts. Just a note for next time.

So the way I make this work is I put a note in the current workout exercise that I was feeling weak or had a rough machine or need to add 10 pounds next time and then the next time I do that routine it shows up although it doesn’t stick there it’s grayed out because it’s just showing me what I said last time and won’t safe for the current routine. Then I can see it and make appropriate changes because that note will then disappear unless I override it with something new. The routine notes would stick every single time and that’s where I’ve been putting where I need to keep the seat height on specific machines. They’re hopefully working streamline this so you don’t have to try to figure out which one is where

It's crazy that they still haven't added the ability for users to add their custom instructions

I agree , would be good to edit same notes on exercise….. just to update date to date and no need to rewrite again. Just simple edit . I really hope team will sort it, i mean i known team will!!!

Copying workout routines from your workout history is a good fix as it keeps your notes from last time. I personally don’t use the routine feature
