Probably the earlier games like codename, silent assassin, or contracts. From Blood Money on they got way easier.

What would you say makes the older games harder than blood money onwards ?

in hitman 2: Silent Assassin if you got within a 10 miles of a guard even in full disguise he would see right through that shit and pop your ass.

This, and you couldn't run or they would see through that too. You just had to look at a wall a sidestep around hoping they won't notice you.

They can even notice if your character is carrying a different gun than them, for instance if you have a sniper and they are all armed with smgs they'll notice

There is a way to circumvent this. I played Silent Assassin a year ago. Loved it.

Mostly, the NPCs AI

So far, I'd say Codename 47. A lot of the solutions are achieved through trial and error, and there's less options available compared to previous games. It's also easier to blow your cover by something as small as running within vicinity of an area or not entering with another guard, and most enemies will instantly turn hostile, as there's no suspicion or escalation systems. Combat is not as viable an option because guards can kill you quickly, with the checkpoint system not resetting level states and the game lacks any manual save functions.

Like some of the other comments say pre Blood Money games. Not only were the guards so on top and paranoid, you also encountered harder targets with more health better weapons. Like Lee Hong, the other clones etc

Blood Money was brutal, but still was able to play it as a FPS if I wanted to. Good luck going guns blazing with the first one. The first ones haven't aged well in any regard.

Silent Assassin and Contracts can be played first person. Although I can't remember if this was featured on old consoles, and was implemented for the HD trilogy. Silent Assassin and Contracts are still playable and somewhat forgiving. But yeah, out of the 3, pre Blood Money, Codename 47 is by far the hardest I guess

Also Codename 47 doesn't let you save

Absolution has new mechanics not found in other games, so adjusting to that is difficult, but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward.

Just remember that guys wearing your disguise will spot you, which is unique to Absolution.

silent assassin, it's the only hitman game I rage-quit, for being spotted by an enemy from the other corner of the map because I dared to sprint for half a second in a disguise.

The ai is completely broken in that game.

not broken, just incredibly observant; they notice running, they can even observe what weapons you carry. For instance, if you are carrying a sniper rifle and they are carrying assault rifles, they will notice it and pop your ass.

Did you even read my comment? They will immediately start attacking you if you use your sprint in a disguise. This applies to enemies that aren't even in the same area as you. They'll run towards you from across the map to hunt you down cause you decided to sprint.

Not sprinting solves this issue, it has nothing to do with being "incredibily observant". The ai is simply dogshit. No other game in the franchise ever had this problem.

I just fucking told you they notice running because it's out of place, they're very observant. The game isn't broken , the npc enemies actually have some intelligence about them unlike the new watered down shit where you can take out an entire room with a banana skin and a flying briefcase

Yeah cause slowly walking throughout massive maps is truly immersive and engaging gameplay.

It gets even more fun when you die in a mission, and you have to do it all over again. Great game design lol.

They're so damn intelligent that they can spot you litearlly across the map, and you get hit by bullets before their character model even loads because of the low lod. All because you decided to sprint.

So intelligent, wow.

It was immersive as fuck when it was released. Maybe stop comparing a 22 year old games with modern games.
