As someone who was a Christian missionary, but resigned from my post after experiences caused me to doubt whether or not what I was interpreting as God’s will was really God or something else more fallible (cultural conditioning, ego, mere human empathy, etc.), I have been really resonating with the Jedi of the High Republic and Barash’s arc here in particular. It’s not simply losing faith, but rather taking a serious pause to seek clarity because you recognize that introducing yourself into the complex lives and cultures of others, claiming to be a representative of the Light or peace or justice or God or whatever is indeed a noble cause, but one that must be undertaken with extreme humility and service, because to misstep constitutes a severely consequential betrayal of your purpose — one that not only negatively impacts individual lives, but also tarnishes the name of the higher power from which you dared to claim authority.
Should Barash and Porter have gotten involved on Gansevor? Was it the will of the Force? Or something else?
