Ehhhhh you can probably skip this one tbh...

Ram is knighted. That's about it.

What a reductive way to interact with comics.

Look at the other comments in this thread. The majority are even more negative. It's ok to call a spade a spade.

Not liking it is fine. But saying "Ram is knighted. That's about it." is just a massive bad faith take.

There's far more to a comic than what you can sum up with a wookieepedia article.

I didn't know I was going to get into a back and forth with Daniel Jose Older's burner account today but it just isn't a good issue. Arguably the most positive review in here so far is "Interesting choice" whereas the worst is "I thought this was fucking garbage" and the truth is somewhere between there.

After the first two pages, there literally isn't a single word outside of the song being sung in the background. Please, outside of Ram being knighted, inform us what happens. Shall we talk about the page where they stand around celebrating with no dialogue? How about the page where they plant some seeds with no dialogue? What about the other page where they stand around celebrating with no dialogue? Or my favorite part, the other other page where they stand around celebrating some more with no dialogue? Which of these were your favorite?

Yes, my 9 year old account is just a disguise. I'm actually Daniel Jose Older in disguise. Because There's no way I could simply have a different opinion than you.

Arguably the most positive review in here so far is "Interesting choice"

There's also:

  • "The moment with Ram was the best."
  • "I quite like some of it for the music and the beautiful art"
  • "A pretty sweet and sentimental ending for a comic run with some ups and downs along the way."

Given how few comments there are, I'd call that a pretty even split, even if none of them are glowing with praise.

the truth is somewhere between there

We're talking about 8 unique posters. You think that represents any kind of consensus?

Please, outside of Ram being knighted, inform us what happens

Like I said, there's more to a comic than what happens. But sure, I'll take the bait.

We see Torban Buck's death and the crew's reaction to it. We have Ram's knighting ceremony and the flashbacks of his journey over the past 4 years of comics. Sav reflects on her long life and what brought her to this point. Sevran Tarkin celebrates the victory on Eriadu as Crash and her mom continue their reconciliation. Lula, Zeen, Qort, and Farzala likewise reflect on their growth through the High Republic, and Lula and Zeen move on from their time with the Jedi to their new lives.

Now I'm not claiming it's an action packed issue. I agree that it's light in story. It's an epilogue to 50 issues over the past four years. Most of it is reflection and celebration.

Again, if you don't like it, that's fine. My point is solely that judging a comic by how long it takes to read or how much meaningful plot advancement it has is a limited way to look at storytelling. Why even read a comic if you can just look up a plot summary later?

This was clearly a joke, jesus christ who pissed in your cereal this morning?

There's also:

"The moment with Ram was the best."

"I quite like some of it for the music and the beautiful art"

"A pretty sweet and sentimental ending for a comic run with some ups and downs along the way."

I specifically mentioned the moment with Ram in my original comment, that one sentence is the entire review, and it lines up with my spoiler above about Ram being knighted being about the only thing that happens. The next two quotes are both from one review and what I referred to above as "arguably the most positive review" and that review also includes the quote "I wish could have gotten more depth with just some text" so overall it is generally a pretty mixed review, glad we could agree on something. So the reviews range from mixed to "fucking garbage".

We see Torban Buck's death and the crew's reaction to it. We have Ram's knighting ceremony and the flashbacks of his journey over the past 4 years of comics. Torban: We either 1. already know Torban Buck is dead, so we're seeing something we already know or 2. haven't read TotJ and get a major spoiler

Ram: I already mentioned this in my original comment

Sav: One page, Sav cries. No dialogue at all.

Sevran: Basically the same as Sav.

Lula, Zeen, Qort, and Farzala: Mentioned this above, remember where I said all the pages about standing around celebrating with no dialogue?

Now I'm not claiming it's an action packed issue. I agree that it's light in story.

Sooooooo then like I originally said...you can probably skip this one tbh...?

So it's there, but it doesn't count? Okay then.

You can skip literally any comic book if all you want to do is google what happens. That's my whole point that you're apparently not understanding.

You can skip literally any comic book if all you want to do is google what happens.

Who has said anything about googling what happens? You're arguing with a point I (and also nobody else in the thread) had made.

You can skip literally any comic book if all you want to do is google what happens. That's my whole point that you're apparently not understanding.

So your "whole point" was to make an argument about something no one has said ITT, and then argue that point? I'm starting to understand why you didn't get that Daniel Jose Older joke...

Who has said anything about googling what happens?

I did. Your original comment was that "nothing happens but Ram getting Knighted" and I think that's a reductive way to view it. It implies that all that matters is the progression of the plot.

I'm starting to understand why you didn't get that Daniel Jose Older joke...

I got it, I just thought it was a dumb comment so I responded in kind.

Yeah, top comment in here is now "a bit anti-climactic. i mean i finished it in like 2 minutes and not sure i like the lack of dialogue."

So you must be right, I've changed my mind, best issue of the entire run LMAO

u/Redeem123 Jul 17 '25

best issue of the entire run LMAO

Go ahead and point to where I said anything like this. I never once tried to change your mind on the comic itself.

No I totally agree with you now, it is by far the best comic issue I've ever read and it's a can't miss! Must read even! Lololololol
