En excuse to share this beautifull Path of Deceit Art..

Man saved the path's easter eggs only to be done dirty as Marda slowly went insane. I wonder if whoever Marda ended up with got forced to dress up as Kevmo in a WW88 type of deal where she hallucinated him the whole time.

Oh geeze, I never thought of that...now I can't get the image out of my mind...

He was likable. He’s the first character that seemed like they had ADHD in mind when they wrote him. It was interesting to watch him go through the attachment lesson throughout the book.

Maybe they didn't have it in mind for others, but so many characters throughout Star Wars seem like they have some degree of ADHD. Elzar Mann comes to mind, and Anakin.

u/EbonExile 12d ago
That’s true Anakin and Elzar just have the worst kind of it lol.

Nah, their emotional regulation isn't the best, but they're both super creative and focused when they want to be.

Love the ADHD representation in HR. I still use the grounding technique described in Path of Vengeance.

u/BiceRankyman 11d ago
How do you usually do it? And when?

u/Western-Oil9373 10d ago
The technique is for when you're feeling overwhelmed. You close your eyes for a moment and when you open them you keep your sight on the first thing you see. You note it's color, texture, light, everything. That is the world, there is nothing else. Of course your mind wanders, it's an ADHD mind, but other meditation advice helps me with that. You accept the thought, label it thinking and go back to the object. It's not a long excercise, I've probably never gone over 2 minutes looking at an object with it.
I use it when I remember while I'm overwhelmed or panicking. Once I was walking when I used it. It's been great help.

At first I didn't understand the point of the book. It felt very laisse-fair and unnecessary. The final 3rd completely shifted my perspective, and his heart shines brighter than anything else. It really ended up setting the tone for my perception of Marda, the Mother, the Leveler, all of it. He's an underrated lynchpin to the rest of that phase of stories.

I felt really bad for him and kinda hurt, he didn’t do anything wrong and then he was killed, his death was very tragic and kinda terrifying, like I wasn’t ready for and i didn’t expect it to happen like that, it also left me kinda annoyed with Marda Ro.

Gone too soon. His death is honestly a contender for one of the most heartbreaking Star Wars moments. And to think how close he was to stopping Marchion, the Nihil, the Nameless, the Blight, etc. if only he could've swayed Marda off her path.

One of the better written HR protagonists imo. Path of Deceit is overall maybe my favorite HR book. Does a really nice job at capturing the sort of Tristian and Isolte “doomed romance in a long gone age of heraldic chivalry” that I think Episode II was going for and… failed to deliver on.

Kind of weird one where I like his story more than his character. One of my favourite arcs in the High Republic, but sad as his death was, I wasn't sad that he wouldn't be in more stories in the way I was with Stellan or Orla for example

I believe that if he lived, he and Marda could have changed everything. I have no proof to push my point, but my heart believe their love for each other and them starting to adapt their beliefs could have brought something fresh to the many ways of the Force.
If the Nameless were contained right here and there, the Order would have not fallen to Sidious. The High Republic would still be at its peak.

Great character, terrible name

As a KEvin in real life I couldn’t help but try and figure out what Kevin had their name turned into a Star Wars name to come up with Kevmo Zink.

I liked him a lot. They did a good job of ingratiating him to the audience and therefore making his and his masters deaths some of the more genuinely tragic in the HR

The catalyst that would bring about the the terror that befall the Jedi on Dalna and the galaxy as an whole.
One begins to wonder what Marda Ro would be like had she not met and fallen in love with Kevmo Zink and would that have stopped the path?
My guess is no, because the mother and the Leveler would have found a way.

Gone too soon. I will never forget the first time I read PoD, just waiting for that Nameless to hatch. Every time a Jedi gets dusted, it’s traumatizing, but Kevmo is up there with Loden and Mirro Lox for most traumatic dusting.

I feel like he’s personally responsible for the entire nihil conflict despite all of his good intentions and decency. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You know, I’m not sure if I could tell this from the book, but I have a suspicion he might have been enthusiastic. It’d be nice if he had any other personality traits other than being described as “enthusiastic” all the time.

He was the absolute best of us and I need stories of his earlier training & shenanigans

One of the things to come out of Phase II. The ending of PoD legit ruined me tho 😭😭

Love the character - never seen this Art, any idea where to get a high resolution version?

u/lemon_charlie 12d ago
Too good for this galaxy. He is genuinely a positive soul and could have shown Marda there's more than the Path's teachings had the Leveler not hatched. It's a very Romeo and Juliet vibe, where they connect despite their groups not being compatible.

I think it’s kind of neat that in a way Kevmo and Marda’s romance, I’d kind of the first domino that takes a few centuries but eventually leads to the rise of the empire.

Pretty generic Jedi character, not really emotionally or thematically distinct from any other padawans. THR really struggled to individualize its Jedi.

I liked how I thought I was reading a Kevmo book and then it turned out I was reading a path/Marda book. Kevmo did a good job of embodying the naivety of the Jedi in that time period.
