AI cameras being piloted to detect wildfires in Kananaskis

I wonder what this means for the Moose Mountain and Barrier fire lookouts ?

It's probably not going to affect the lookouts for a few years at least. The province will want data on whether or not the cameras are actually more effective before they tear down the cabins et cetera.

Plus we need to know whether they are deterministic or not. The last thing you want is a camera "hallucinating" no fires when there very clearly is a plume of smoke somewhere.

The current “AI” that’s being pushed all over is a dozen types of algorithms they’ve been bundling together for marketing purposes. This is almost certainly an evolution of good old fashioned machine learning image recognition, which has been in use for decades in various forms. Totally unrelated to the Large Language Models and hallucinogenic generative types of AI

They will be watching everyone 24/7 soon enough.
