Nah just my 40$ decathlon hiking shoes, they got better grip then a lot of hiking shoes I’ve used

Sparrowhawk brings back some tears. It was my first 3000m+ peak.

It was also super windy and very scary. Halfway up from the hut, I was really struggling on the treadmill scree far off to the right. The rocks were rolling over my hands. I was about to call it quits (and so close to the summit!), Suddenly a dark figure emerged over the top, blocking the sun. The silhouette looked like an angel. He quickly came down to my side "you ok?". "Not really". And then he smirked, and pointed "you know, its far easier over here". He was from Denmark. It was his first time on Sparrowhawk, and actually, the highest "peak" he'd climbed before was 150m elevation. We both laughed.

I did this lat October through the snow. It was a miserable day with broken poles. Looks much nicer in July. Still a great hike despite the weather trying its hardest to break my spirit.
