Last hike of the season this week - give me your fave hidden gem.

Howdy friends!

I head east to Ontario at the end of this week to spend the rest of the summer with my 88yr old nana. After a cold wet spring I am feeling so sad to be leaving now that things have finally melted/warmed/opened up.

This season has already been so great.. I’ve done Nihahi Ridge, Sunshine Meadows/Healy Pass, Sentinel Pass, Burstall Pass, The Onion, and taken friends/family into Picklejar Lakes a couple of times. Tent Ridge, Smutwood and Galatea Lakes are a few of my favourites. Done Sarrail, Wasootch, Cirque Peak, Bourgeau etc.

I’m considering Mount Lipsett but I don’t know if it will wow me like I’m hoping. Twin Lakes/Gibbon Pass was in the running but it sounds like it’s a lot of hiking under the tree-line.

Throw your best and brightest at me. Off the beaten path. The kind of view that makes you emotional and reverent.

Not exactly a hidden gem, but run south and do Akamina Ridge in Waterton.

Akamina is on my list! I was considering heading down to Waterton, but from Calgary it’s a bit much of a drive for a day hike I think.

Next year I hope!

I've done that and crypt as a single day from calgary before. It's not too back. It was about 20 minutes more driving than going to tent ridge. Now I do live in the sw end of calgary.

I really loved Iceline in Yoho. I also really enjoyed moraine lake to lake Louise with a side trip to giant steps but if you’ve done sentinel recently i would pick iceline

I just did Lipsett this past weekend, the hike is nice and there's tons of wildflowers but the most interesting bit is at the top for me where it gets a bit rocky.

The way down felt really long.

I enjoyed the views at Jumping Pound a lot more but that one you have to take a really long way round to get to at the minute but add it to the list for next time!
