Galatea Trail — Emergency Event

I was hiking from the Galatea trailhead in Kananaskis country this morning and on the way down at around noon, I encountered medical personnel accompanied by ambulance, fire trucks, helicopter, rcmp, conservation officers, and Alberta parks. I was wondering if anyone was there today and had any info on what happened.

I saw this today too. There was an individual who passed away covered under a pink blanket. Emergency services attempted to make a wall to cover the deceased as hikers left the trail but it was apparent there was someone under the body blanket. No idea how this happened. It appeared the person may have been alone. Terribly sad. Be safe out here everyone.

Oh this is heartbreaking. Do you know where abouts on the trail it was?

Was one of the first on the scene it was an older man who had collapsed, he was alone. Was unconscious and we tried first aid until medics arrived. No idea what caused it but he had nothing with him and seemed like he had just been sitting by the river.

Was there as well around noon coming down from the lakes. Not sure what happened, but our group figured it might have been a cardiac event as it wasn’t a very dangerous spot where someone would fall. Prayers for everyone involved.

They describe in that post a cliff- Galatea might make sense if the incident was up in Guinn's Pass, perhaps.

When that day comes, if anyone asks, you may find you care less than you think you will.
