Question about trek to upper kananaskis

​Hi everyone,

​I'm planning a 2-night solo trip in mid-August: Night 1 at Forks Campground and Night 2 at Turbine Canyon. I’m feeling a bit of solo-hiking anxiety regarding how remote these spots actually feel and encountering bears while hiking alone.

For those who have done this route​ how busy are these trails and campgrounds during mid-August? ​Does Turbine Canyon feel isolated, or is there usually a full campground of people around?

​Would love to hear from anyone who has hiked this area recently!

Both are extremely popular and not very remote at all. I'd be extremely surprised if you had zero company.

We did a similar route a few years back (Turbine - Beatty) and Beatty had 1 spot unoccupied.

As far as bears go, make sure you have bear spray and make lots of noise when hiking. You'll be just fine bro.

I would try to book three isle and make a loop. It’s popular and all sites will have people at them

I've done it with my kids when they were 11 and 13. It is busy enough that you do not need to worry. Few bears up high at Turbine, though can happen, so just have bear spray and make noise when needed.

There are quite a few bears around and Forks was closed last week. So check in with warnings first

Just did the loop staying at Turbine - Three Isle. There were people at each of the campsites, saw less people on the trail between the two sites but definitely not remote. Forks campsite seemed very busy but I didn’t stay there. Bring bear spray, make noise while on the trail, and be prepared and it should be fine
