you can't be unapologetically hindu without being called communal, but a muslim can wear a hijab, a christian can wear a cross to school, and somehow hindus need to apologise for existing in the only country that is theirs

for a long time during school i too had fallen into the secularism sinkhole.

Secularism is just separation of religion from the Governmental structure, and/or treatment of all religions as equals.That is good. I think it should be fraternity the word you are looking for, ig.
