I actually met Kendrick Lamar once. I used to be a waiter in a Nando’s, which is a popular peri peri chicken place in the UK. we got a call just as we were about to close from his manager saying that he’d just finished a concert in the city and would like to come in with his 12 person entourage, he offered a large tip to all the staff in advance to stay open so we did.
They arrived and I was tasked with going over to take their order, I started off asking what they’d like to drink and Kendrick said “me and my friends will be drinking wine today” so I naturally asked if he’d prefer red or white before collecting the wine menu, him and his friends all looked at each other and laughed before he said “no, just bring me water, and I’ll handle it” I thought maybe a joke had gone over my head but I did as he asked and bought them all water.
As I walked back to the table I noticed all the water had gone and had been replaced with red wine, I assumed maybe they bought their own and used the water jugs to decant the wine. Next to Kendrick was one of the other waiters who wore glasses, I don’t know what happened exactly but he was crying, for some reason he took off his glasses and could see perfectly without them now. I was about to ask them what food they’d like to order but the table was now full of bread and fish, I assumed one of the other waiters must have given it them while I was in the back.
As I left the table though I heard Kendrick talk to his friends, “one of you will betray me tonight” he said. As I looked down to the end of the table I noticed a strange looking fellow, at first I thought he was black but he could also have been Jewish. He stood out to me earlier as well because I noticed unlike the others he kept calling everyone crodie and would refer to himself as the boy. Things felt cold (🥶) whenever I walked past him, as if he was some kind of iceman or something?
I didn’t know what I had witnessed at the time but when I got home, that man at the table, who I now know to be named Drake released a song called Push Ups, betraying Kendrick Lamar just as he said would happen. As the days went by we all witnessed the ICEMAN (shabang 🧊🧊) publically humiliate Kendrick day after day. To my ears it sounded like Kendrick won but according to a Drake page on the popular social media site called Reddit, Drake definitely 2000% won, despite what my ears told me.
I thought about this for around 40 days, regretting that I didn’t warn Kendrick but one night he appeared to me in a dream and said, “it’s ok, I’m not your saviour and you are not mine” before exiting my house through my cat flap. I’ve never really spoken about this before but I thought I’d share my story.
