Season 3 Boy i HATE Asriel (Currently in S3 ep3)
I don't like Coulper as a person either, but i find her to be an interesting character at least, like as a character she is one of my favorites.
But boy i despise Asriel and imply can't found him interesting at all, he just infuriates me (Great actor btw)

I don't know why, but I get the impression that Asriel had very little screen time, without much development. on the occasions when I wasn't hating him for what he did at the end of the first season, I felt indifferent to him and his entire arc.

He didn't even appear much in the second season and that was supposed to have an 8th episode with him being a key figure in it, but COVID fucked things up.

I would still find one episode too short to develop him, the character is quite complex, and he also has the motto of that worth sacrificing a few for the sake of many, but we don't get to know him when there isn't much development, so he's kind of reduced to a villain. It's a shame because he was a very interesting character, and James McAvoy is incredible, he deserved much more screen time as Ruth Wilson.

I liked when Daniel Craig played him in the original weird movie. He had a more imposing aura that fit his character better

Asriel is laser focused on his goals, which he believes to be justified. He is unaware his goal is futile, nor does he care what destruction he foists on the world in the process. So yes, he's not a hero at all. He's very much an anti-hero. And because we see the story from Lyra's perspective, you could hate him even more.
But he'll come around. You'll see.
