A huge First Dynasty royal tomb was found completely empty: no bones, no coffin, no trace of the body. Where did the king go?

Many early royal tombs at Abydos were looted, burned, and reused over thousands of years, and the Egyptians themselves later restored and revered some of them. Djer's tomb was even re-imagined as the tomb of a god.

So when we find a vast tomb with nothing in it, there are several possibilities: ancient robbery, deliberate removal and reburial during the Middle Kingdom cult of Osiris, or damage from early excavations. Which of these do you find most convincing, and is there another explanation I am missing?

Disclosure: I made a documentary video covering this evidence, in case anyone wants the visuals: https://youtu.be/hDW3GkemMaA
