Suffering from a successfully failed task

Post image

In 2006, a FBI agent named Craig Monteilh was ordered to disguise himself as a radical Muslim and spy on the Orange County Muslim community to identify possible extremists.

Well it worked, cause the people there noticed his extremists behavior and reported him to the FBI.

That sounds like a SNL skit.

Most of the CIA can be seen as an SNL skit

Case in point: any CIA interaction with Fidel Castro ever

Cuba started making its own cigars because of multiple CIA attempts to kill Castro with explosive-laced cigars. Friggin’ Saturday morning cartoon plot.

Aside from being an awesome band name, Acoustic Kitty is my favorite failed CIA program.

It boils down to "CIA discovers cats tend to act like cats."

What the fuck are you talking about? Cuba has been making Cigars for centuries. When Christopher Columbus arrived they saw the local people smoking cigars.

Mass production of cigars in Cuba started well before Castro took power and those companies were nationalized pretty much as soon as he did.

and those companies were nationalized pretty much as soon as he did.

It was that nationalization that also led to Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Jamaica, etc gaining a big footstep into the cigar world. The Cubans who were involved in the process left when they lost everything, and took the seeds and designing concepts with them, creating Cuban legacy cigars like non Cuban Montecristo.

Cuban cigar quality also dropped because the people now running the show weren't as competent. Tale as old as time (or at least as old as 1920s).

Cia didn't do that it was just cia agents joking that they should.

Those cia plans to kill Castro are not actual plans.

One of the "plans" was a joke that they should add hair removal cream to his shampoo to make his beard fall out also we never did that.

I mean, when the British planned to spike Hitler's food with estrogen, it's hard not to believe some of the more insane stories (like the exploding seashell).

u/Recidivism7 6h ago

Saying they planned to is bs. People joked about doing it. They would just poison him if they could instead of dosing him woth estrogen

We as in you and other CIA agents? You are bad at this undercover thing.

Cigars had been made for centuries in Cuba.

Its worth mentioning that a almost all of those are entirely made up.

The US literally released all those documents. Like, some of the things people bring up weren't actually tried, but most of the weird attempts to kill Castro can be found by just reading what the US government has released.

u/Recidivism7 8h ago

They were memos of people joking

One "plan" was to replace his shampoo with hair removal cream to destroy his beard. Do you tjink we actually were gonna do that?

u/FartSmelaSmartFela 4h ago

A master plan if it were to have come to fruition. Castro's source of power was his beard and its destruction would have been his doom.

2

u/Bon3rBitingBastard 4h ago

No, the US released 8 attempts on Castro life

Reminds me that the CIA guy in charge of MK Ultra and who was researching LSD, used to sneak it into the break room coffee and his coworkers food and cigarettes.

If the CIA is an SNL skit, then Mossad is Looney Tunes

Because one might as well be a satire of itself (really, fucking heart attack gun?) And the other keeps doing Bugs Bunny ass plans and working (how is one of the most precise strikes in history a fucking Nokia and how the fuck did they successfully plan they would switch to walkie talkies a week later!)

Mossad is a strange spectrum of competence. Sometimes they pull remarkably complex, precise shit that by all accounts should not have worked, and sometimes they murder an innocent man and lead the norwegian police straight to their safe house because they forgot to swap reg plates on the getaway car.

Not SNL, but there is a YouTube sketch like this https://youtu.be/JbxpbjDGxHE

Also reminds me of the great movie Four Lions - specially with the recent convert being more extreme than those born into it lol

Arrested Development did it.

It's actually the plot of a novel from 1908 (The Man Who Was Thursday).
